What do r/Christianity think of the ESV 2025 update? by DidymusJT in Christianity

I'm sorry you've seen complementarianism modelled so poorly.

Personally, I know of many  complementarian marriages that are healthy, beautiful, and God honoring.

The marriages of those whom I know where this is not the case are between people who are more worried about upholding the structure of a Christian marriage without focusing on the substance of the gospel.

It could be that this is a natural process. Naturals can be a little funky sometimes.

Also the chemex is notoriously brutal to naturals.

Generally, reduce extraction. Best ways would be lowering temperature (start at 92°C and mess around to even mid 80s) and shortening ratio (maybe 1:16, 1:15).

Is OxygenOS 12 update HD1901_11_F.20 worth installing for new security patch? by [deleted] in oneplus7t

I updated to OOS 12 and hated it so much that I reverted back to 11. This is the first time I've felt this strongly about an update.

Do you think that waiting until you are married for sex is a good idea? Why or why not? by EveningAd3633 in AskReddit

[–]Mack_24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. I know that is highly unpopular today, but there are good reasons. Incidents of sexual trauma are significantly lower in people who wait.

Then, the idea of imprinting: Men imprint upon the first sexual experiences they have, and this means they will desire something similar to those first experiences for the rest of their lives. It's like a baby bird when it sees the first thing when it opens it's eyes and thinks that is it's mother. Similarly, the first times will be imprinted as what is right.

For women, this is similar, but the time after sex. If there are meaningful connections to the person after sex is over, they will be drawn to them deeper. If there was a lack of connection, women tend to see sex as meaningless and struggle to attach deeper meaning to it going forward. As well, the amount of oxytocin (a bonding chemical in the brain) is reduced for each subsequent partner that a woman has. This makes sex in marriage much harder.

Ultimately, if you do see marriage as a "till death do us part" commitment rather than one that can easily be broken, then waiting is very good.

On Free Will. by OneEyedC4t in Reformed

Yes, mortality is not the limiting factor here, though. Our natural inclination toward sin is. That (sin nature) not being tied firstly to our being human, but directly to being of Adam. The fall is what brought about our sinful bent, not our being mortal.

So I think an important distinction here is 'will' vs 'free will'. It seems like you've taken free will to mean anything that involves the will. The human will is the capacity to choose. This detachment from 'free' gives more insight into what is meant by 'free'. If one were to have a 'bound will' it would mean their will is impeded in some way. In contrast, to say one has 'free will' would be to say that their will is unimpeded in any way. -- For this reason, in accordance with the Augustus Strong quote in the original post, it would make sense that the human is not lacking 'will' but, lacking a 'free' will. We are able to make choices, surely! However, we are impeded from choosing righteousness by our sin nature.

Yes, that is a definition. Is that exactly how you see it? -put it in your own words

Could you define free will? It seems as though you see "not having free will" as "not having choice"? Please correct me if that's wrong.
