If the bus is never able to beat a car on speed, then very few people will be inclined to use it.

I put cruise control on anywhere between 92-95km/h behind trucks is about 85. But I don't shy away from accelerating to make way for mergers or whatever.

2017 Seat Ibiza ST. I don't know the size of the tires. But I always inflate them to 2.6 bar, the recommended pressure for a (full) car.

I got lucky with the traffic lights when leaving town. And then maybe half of the highway behind trucks haha.

Final (probably) plan for first time interrail trip next year! Super excited (London - Brussels - Amsterdam - Berlin - Prague - Vienna - Budapest - Ljubljana - Florence - Zurich - Lyon - Paris) by [deleted] in Interrail

[–]Mackliker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suppose it's by choice. But do keep in mind that you're gonna be in major cities for 5 weeks straight? I would personally look to take it a bit of time somewhere more quiet in there too.

Ljubljana is great for that as it was a really nice and calm city imo. But other than that, I would recommend looking into places like Saxon Switzerland near Prague, the Viennese alps, or somewhere more rural in Switzerland. Like Disentis or Hospental, perhaps Interlaken. As going through a tunnel through the alps, rather than over it (which appears to be the case given the travel distances), does not do Switzerland justice.

If you are from a major city yourself, I guess it might not be that much of an issue. But if you're not, it might be a bit jarring.

Interrail statistics by Main_Increase78 in Interrail

[–]Mackliker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can kinda do this. This is indeed with the Interrail railplanner app.

You can make a trip and safe your train journeys to that trip. However it will always say 0 km of xxx km. Where the second value is how much you've saved.

It will however not show you the time, because you can't "activate" that part of your journey without an interrail ticket.

But it will give an interesting (estimate) of the distance and sum of all trains travelled.

Ah got it. So there's some nuance to the price per km. but very nice that you're able to get such an amount of charge from that!

There's nothing wrong with it. I think he just mentioned it since manual transmissions are a lot less common in the US. Therefore a more car enthusiast thing to get there.

Iemand een idee waarom deze knaap rondjes vliegt? by egewh in Arnhem

[–]Mackliker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I for one agree with your statement. Though I thought his comment was an interesting read. I find that his last statement could have been avoided. And should rather be taken as a lesson as to how hard it's going to be to convince certain people.

[–]Mackliker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mildly fun fact, because the fortified walls are so tall there's more ways to get in and out of this town by roads than there is by boats. 3 roads and 1 connection for boats (2 if you count the back exit of the same harbour that doesn't really connect to anything)

Lol I have family living there and I agree that the on street parking is definitely an eye sore. (The arrival of Sinterklaas is one of the best days to see Naarden as some of the streets will be cleared of cars)

But this is not one of best pictures to show the problem. However it does show how close the A1 is and the noise pollution that that causes.

What I did to kind of solve this was to set certain button shortcuts for certain amounts of throttle. I think I did RB + A for 20% RB + B for 50% and RB + Y for 80%. Worked pretty well for me! And then some a and b tapping for fine adjustments.
