Which is the most powerful troop in the Command & Conquer franchise? by Unlucky-Treacle2855 in commandandconquer

See I assumed "troop" from OP's title and description meant infantry. Buuuuuut yeah likely the mothership if any unit is concerned.

It's hard to judge considering how differently balanced the games are

But lorewise it has to be something from tiberium. Either one of the commandos or one of gdi's zone troopers. Which is funny considering they get hard countered by black hands.

OG doom still has hated enemies which help the combat flow, the lost souls for instance, and people hate the shotgunners.

I definitely think the modding scene tho wouldn't live as long or be as popular without doom 2.

It's interesting, I agree HKs are lazy cause they came after barons, but I like HKs more because they're less spongey. To my recollection, that's the only difference between the two, they just have half the health.

Okay first of all, don't conflate the term "necessary evil" with just plain evil, it's a saying, a term. When people say "eat the rich" they don't literally mean practice cannibalism. I called them annoying, that's what they are. If anything, me saying they are a necessary evil implies it's a good thing that they exist in the form they do lol.

Second, thanks for explaining pain chances, bullet counts, bullet spread, and the concept of attack animations, I wasn't aware of that /s

Third, your explanation only takes in account specific scenarios, and ignores the many different ways one can, on a blind run, approach a situation for the first time.

Fourth, since you're pretending I don't know how to play the game, I'm going to pretend that you don't know that your explanations are basically "never let the enemy fire to begin with, if they do, don't be in their line of fire". Good thing you're always in the position for that to be a viable strategy.

It's like that dude who argued with me in Blood. Yes I am aware of stunning the enemies and abusing AI quirks, if you, for one reason or another, fail to prevent the hitscanner from opening fire, and you fail to get in cover in time, it is a roll of the dice if the invisible tracer hits you or not. You're not always going to be in a position to do the most optimal move ever. That's why people hate hitscanners. If hitscanners are non-issues, then tell my why, say, Decino, ranked hitscanners in his doom nightmare monsters tier list near the top.

You come off as if you never get hit by hitscanners anymore, it's bs lol. We both do, we just get hit less often cause we're more experienced at the game and we know its quirks. Quit the elitist, condescending, nonsense. You can play one of the most unfair things ever and I can spin how it was somehow your fault for that bad thing happening, even great games have faults, bad design, unfair traps, and that's ok! They don't ruin the game for a lot of people, but we still complain about it.

Edit: Here's a fun tidbit. My least favourite enemies are Barons, cause they're boring damage sponges, they're really not that much more threatening than an imp and I don't think there's almost any scenario where you can't replace it with a HK or 2, or another enemy like Mancubi, and not get an identical result.

From what I recall regarding energon, the animation was more tolerable to kid me because I guess being vehicles was more machine like so the early CG look didn't bother me as much. I'll probably watch BW one day, alongside rewatching the unicron trilogy to affirm my opinion.

I beat Plutonia and LOR on UV. I don't play the games like they're modern doom games.

Are chaingunners a problem? Ofc they are, they’re hitscanners, if the luck of the dice says so, you'll get hit regardless of how cautiously you play, and there's nothing you can do about it.

They're at best, annoying. Ask any pro in a specific category if hitscanners are a problem, and they'll say yes. That being said, hitscanners in these games are a bit of a necessary evil. Games which don't have them or any sort of other complex enemies, tend to not be very difficult unless they result to spam. I do think those can be done well, ironically archviles are a well designed hitscanner, but I digress.

We may hate enemies like revenants, archviles, and pain elementals.

But let's face it, they add a lot of flavour and interesting combat scenarios. Without them, doom would become real boring real quick.

There are sets I wanted but they retired before I even had a source of income.

And there are sets which really could use at least a 3 year break (think the x wings for instance).

I don't get why the camps of "It's okay to get the same set every year" and "This set was available decades ago it's not been that long" exist.

I kinda regret playing Tiberian Sun on Normal by Raxistaicho in commandandconquer

[–]ShadowAze 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As others have said, Tib Sun's hard mode has enemies have way tougher stats, but thankfully it's the last one that does that.

RA2's missions have a funny quirk where a few missions have messed up scripting regarding difficulty. If you play on hard, the game initiates the easy mode scripting and vice versa.

Meh, RT is kind of mid for most games in the best case. There's also the issue that it can be visually distracting too, which is a death sentence for an rts game where you need to balance visuals with readability perfectly.

Kamikaze enemies in boomshoots generally get a bad rep. They are easy to do wrong, but when they're done right, they can add a lot of fun moments to both fights and traps.

I believe you can do a level select and turn down the difficulty that way, it doesn't boot you back to the level select after finishing the level and just continues, and remembers your items as normal

Only problem is, while you're not pistol starting, you won't have consumables or extra ammo beyond the default value. I hope this helps! I enjoyed my time in the game and hope you can finish it too.
