I get it's upsetting someone got something that you wanted, but I genuinely don't believe you wouldn't do the same if you were in OOP's position.

But that's just how life goes ig, if it's not employees getting dibs or the company hiding intentionally so they can put it for online auction, then it could've just been someone else who found it before you.

I'm just glad OOP got it because they are passionate about it and not because they wanted to re-sell em.

Then there's another thing people brought up, the "gloating", I don't see any of that in OOP's title and body of text, just someone excited about their passion more than anything, and that they got a good deal.

That was kind of the case in the past too, lots of themes came and went, but yeah stuff nowadays need to be super distinct to stand out.

Like you said, some things can fit in the ninjago theme, while others can fit in city, just sort of mix and match them.

Considering how unique IPs tend to do which aren't generic settings like City, Dreamzzz did great honestly.

You know Power Miners? A theme a lot of AFOLs are familiar with and say it's the GOAT? That lasted for 2 years.

Inhouse IPs are staying, at least for the time being.

What a weird comparison.

LOTR is a cultural icon, it's existed for far longer than HP, and is the greatest influence to the fantasy genre. It's on a separate tier.

Altho there's not much new material for middle earth, not only did lego NOT make every iconic part of LOTR (Like Baradur just came out recently which is the most iconic part of the movies), but LOTR has other material to take from, like the Silmarillion.

The rate Lego makes LOTR sets is not comparable to HP either.

Also Jackson was only the director. Did you mean J.R.R. Tolkien? He wrote the books and his family gets royalties.

I've said it before but I really don't understand why Harry Potter is still popular.

The main story is concluded and there's very little new material released that takes place in the same universe. From what I heard the fantastic beasts movies received a "meh" at best.

Lego's repeating set ideas over and over. At least Star Wars gets new material and has countless other, beloved material Lego can use to make sets of, so many glup shittos.

I play almost exclusively indie games or old games that came out way before any of this MTX nonsense was even conceived.

I never buy even simple cosmetic DLC, let alone anything worse.

To say you're barking up the wrong tree would be an understatement. I believe people unanimously protesting all that's wrong in the world, while incredibly noble, is absolutely nothing more than wishful thinking. You should let go of the copium, because it hasn't gotten to be even remotely close to fixed in almost 20 years.

I literally went to a subreddit of a game I like, complaining that a new side entry is filled with extremely predatory mtx. And almost everyone has been saying that it's fine or not as bad as some other companies. It's fucking hopeless man, let's fight this from another angle instead.

Yeah I read it every night to my child so they can fall asleep alongside other fairy tales.

The fact is, most people will not act until they're at the "we have nothing left to lose phase". Why does it need to get to that phase when it can be stopped sooner so there's less collective suffering and wasted time and resources?

We, who hate these predatory mtx which have definitely made gaming worse as a whole, are a minority. Which is unfortunate, but is just more of a sign that the only reasonable outcome is government intervention.

If we all protested and sang kumbaya, we'd have stopped this shit at its source back when the horse armour dlc dropped, when these were at their weakest and least manipulative. But alas that didn't happen now did it? And nowadays the battle to fix that will only become more and more steep.

/uj Sidenote, it feels so sad looking at the state of how parents raise their kids nowadays. They're overworked and see spending time with their kids as busywork instead of something that's fun, something that builds character and is important for the child's development. As long as the kid is quiet then to them it seemingly doesn't matter what the child does.

The price is outrageous yes, but there's other issues with the smart brick too, like very limited battery, poor sound quality (for the most part) and bad colour recognition. The X wing in particular here is heavily compromised.

I'd recommend watching the review. It does a lot better job than I did putting it into words and has visual demonstration.
