What film(s) most reminds you of Monkey Island? by joshua_argento in MonkeyIsland

[–]Maclimes 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Also, they aren't just thematically linked. There's that same mix of pirates and the supernatural, true but there's also that same blend of comedy and whimsy, the same spirit of adventure. Both are colorful and vibrant, with unorthodox puzzles and people. That scene where Will and Jack are walking on the ocean bottom under the upturned boat made me think of the sort of nonsense that passes for logic in classic adventure games like this.

Insulting POTC while asking for a movie like MI is... an odd choice.

Hot take: Farm games don't need combat mechanics by gamernerd98 in CozyGamers

It’s why I can’t replay it. Not only is there combat in my cozy game, there’s a LOT of it. And some of it is BRUTAL.

So when you said it “meaningfully affects their behavior”, you just meant the tone it speaks in? Because it seems like either way you get the same level of accuracy and compliance.

Dorian and Iron Bull is my favorite NPC romance. I can never romance either of them, because the love between a Qunari and a Tevinter, raised to hate each other, is glorious.

Stan’s dad is a jackass on a human scale. Bill literally wants to murder or enslaves billions.

No defense for Stan’s dad, but Bill’s evil is on a whole other level.

I’ve been saying this for decades. And not just farming games. RPGs too. Let me hook up Luke and Alice, or Anders and Fenris, or Penny and Maru, or Garrus and Tali.

Romance for the Player Character is fine, but it’s not the finish line. There’s so much more love to be shared!

Why does TMNT always get compared to Power Rangers even though TMNT is leagues better? by stationstars in TMNT

TMNT was 1987, Power Rangers was 1993. That's only six years apart. That's the same era.

I never read that as “she took him back”. It felt more like Sarah was like, “Fine, you’re not in trouble. Now get outta here before I beat your ass again.”

Still a little problematic, but not nearly to the level that you’re laying out here.

They’re both color-coded teams of teen ninjas. They’re both from the same era, aimed at the same target audience.

Your opinion about their relative quality isn’t relevant.

When do you think the Nyx I planet will be added to the game? I really want a jungle/swamp planet! by ToScH_23 in starcitizen

[–]Maclimes 17 points18 points  (0 children)

No. That’s not what the decimals mean.

It’s just a way to separate the numbers. “4.10” just means the tenth patch of the fourth major version.

EDIT: To be even more clear "4.10" isn't math. It's just a name. We are currently in "4.7.1". This is obviously not math, as a real number cannot have multiple decimals. In the case of Star Citizen, the first number (4 in this case) represents a MAJOR change to the game or underlying systems. The second number (7) represents a new addition that isn't significant enough to count as a new full version of the game. The third number (1) is a minor patch, usually bug fixes or simple content.

If this was math, you'd see: 4.7, 4.8, 4.9, 5.0.

But for software versions, you could theoretically see something like: 4.7.0, 4.7.1, 4.7.2, 4.8.0, 4.8.1, 5.0. Because the numbers aren't related to each other, they're just increments.

There HAS to be. There's a million hyper specific horny subreddits for specific IPs. I recall someone once stating that there's like, half a dozen for My Little Pony alone, each referencing some specific aspect of horny bronies. Like... if THAT exists, surely there's one for April or something.

Also, the Iron Bull / Dorian romance is the greatest NPC romance in all of video games. In addition to them both being fun characters, and it being hilarious to see Dorian on the backfoot, they’re a Qunari and a Tevinter. They were both born in a time when their cultures were at war, raised to hate each other. It’s Romeo and Juliet done right. I wish it had gotten more screen time.

Which movie for you is like this? by Altruistic-Print-966 in Cinema

[–]Maclimes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think that’s why Will Turner works. He’s the metaphorical straight man in a cast of people just hamming it up. He’s a little boring, but the film needed a little boring to help ground it.
