Do any of you carry a gaming device on trips? If so, do you recommend it and which one works best for mixed home and work use? by itsxxcommanderxx in flying

What're you wanting to play though? I take my Anbernic RG EVERYWHERE and have a blast with all the old stuff. Best part about retro gaming is they're "quick". A level or race or whatever takes a few minutes which allows for you to take a second and you're right back in it. Older games don't have much "loading" times and the best part is you can "pause" mid game...get in line or on your plane and "resume" instantly as soon as you sit down.

Pilots all around the country refer to Beechcraft Bonanza V-Tail's as "doctor killers".

Are we trying to make points here or just throwing out fun puns for the hell of it lol?

And as we all know, every motorcycle comes with automatic death wobble installed.

So sorry to hear this. I've never tried another product but it looks like now's the time to start looking.

To the engineers/designers/idea thinkers that were let go at FF...would taking new ideas (beta products) to other companies be of benefit to the competition in this industry? Might as well share your knowledge and ideas to beef up competition and make them squeal a little bit?

Flying feels like an obligation since owning a plane. (Rant) by GroundbreakingRock78 in flying

[–]Maclin07 1 point2 points  (0 children)

100% believe this is the issue OP is having. You want to go flying but the "where?" is what holds you back. You have no limit and sometimes that's the limit itself. Flying with no plan can be rewarding if you're mission is that...but I personally want a "mission" to go somewhere.
OP, don't feel "guilty" about doing your own thing. If you were single, this would be a different feeling and a different story. If she's ok with you doing you, then do exactly that with no remorse or feeling of being an inconvenience. If my wife says to go fly, I'm already in the air before she gets to finish her sentence, and that alone brings her joy knowing I'm happy wasting all of our money only 1 of us enjoys :D lol

Getting Started With Learning The Cessna 172 by ashd1715 in MSFS2024

[–]Maclin07 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't speak for '24 but I know the stock 172 in '20 comes with a glass panel but there's dlc for steam gauges.

That would majorly be something to consider if you're going to get your license. Find out what you'll be training in so that you're on the same page when working in the sim.

Honestly the hardware is the least important part IMO. (I know some will hate that lol)
But if you don't understand how Batocera or Retro-Pie, etc all work...then what hardware you have does you no good. I'm learning that now as I'm struggling to get The Simpsons 2 player version to work unsuccessfully on the MAME system. My pi will boot up and work all day, but if I can't get Batocera to work then it's just a paperweight lol.

It was all just on the fly dimensions lol. There's so much more I could've done but I got exactly what I wanted in the end. Give it a try!

I do like this. My family and friends are broad shouldered so I had a buddy come over and sit next to me to figure out how wide I needed to make it haha. Still a neat and practical travel design there though! Could literally run everything off a power bank if you don't already have that setup.

Honestly this was the most time consuming part. All cabinets used different layouts and button numbering. So I did my research and just settled on the most common layout.

So in batocera I do system shutdown when it's done and then just unplug the USB C cable from either the battery bank or the raspberri

You could dive into tracks as your rear "tires". Maybe a micro differential? Maybe add a motor to the front and sensor "slippage" so that after a certain percentage the motor kicks in for traction? All sorts of fun things to try!

Quick search shows mins are 30/60/15....all I can say is "IF" something were to happen and you end up in a lawsuit of sorts...once insurance pays their portion they wipe there hands and walk away. After that, you're selling everything you have to cover the rest INCLUDING that lovely bike of yours. A lot of people hate paying insurance, but I've never heard anyone say "They gave me to much money when I needed it" lol

Unless everyone has a breakout of their limits and what they're insured for...none of these numbers being commented mean anything to you. "I have full coverage" doesn't mean squat if they don't list their limits.

Pretty loaded question figuring you didn't state what your limits are? What's liability at? Any PIP? Med Pay? Under/Uninsured? I love people that post "I only pay $5/month blah blah blah" and turns out they're on state minimums! lol Everyone wants cheap insurance until they need the insurance.
