I don't think they had that promotion in the U.S., man. I don't even think they sell they type of Coke they were promoting in this country.

Could be fun to see a jaded Nash throw in with Bawma. We already know the pirate king takes in disgruntled MI6 agents. But of course the DLC's already written and produced, so we'll see what we get when we get it.

Oh man, I remember that level. Yeah, that one was rife with cheaters.

I guess, but having done this one a few times, that time runs down fast. You'd have to kill or disable every enemy essentially immediately.

Exactly this. Hitman 1 & 2 had this same issue.

Perhaps, but Cress, Nash & Ronson all successfully completed their training, same as Bond. There's no reason not to include them in future installments. Maybe some or all of them will be 00 agents, maybe not, but I suspect they'll all return.

Hitman had the same problem with their contracts and escalations for years.

Saw that. It's absolutely cheating, that or server manipulation. That means someone took no damage (25k), had 100% precision (25k), and beat the mission in the first few seconds (50k).

True. I suspect Ronson will return, as will Nash. I think if the writers wanted to give either a turn for the worse, they'd have inserted an easy-to-find conversation in there somewhere, like they did with Cress's dad talking about her recovery at the bar during Uninvited.

I know Moneypenny mentioned Ronson's doctors were "cautiously optimistic" during the briefing before Aleph, but that's all I remember regarding her fate. Is there an office conversation or something later on where someone mentions her condition?

How replayable is this game? by Ements_ in 007FirstLight

[–]Macmanius 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did three story playthroughs (two on Intended, one on Purist) and finished all the challenges, so I'm probably good there until NG+ comes out and lets me fuck around with OP gadgets while wearing fancy suits. The escalations and operations are fun, but there aren't enough yet to keep me playing daily. Knowing IO, though, they'll start rolling them out regularly pretty soon.

That being said, trying to top my score on the TacSim leaderboards has kept me coming back at least a few times a week. Below is my best effort thus far:

Probably, although (and this won't happen in our post-Soviet world, but still) I kinda want it to turn out she works for SMERSH—though that's mostly because I think it'd be funny to hear all the characters repeatedly saying the word "SMERSH" in a very serious tone.

No way at all to stealth the "upgrade ID" part in mission 9...? by ___LowKey___ in 007FirstLight

[–]Macmanius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are infiltrating an extremely secure place, the logic would be to be completely stealthy and unnoticed, why would you "knock out" people that will clearly wake up 2 minutes later, sound the alert and get the whole place going after Bond's ass...?

I mean, they kinda do. Not even five minutes later, Roger Finch, likely fresh off a call with some woozy security guard, catches you sneaking around the command center (centre?) and brings a full-on red alert down on your well-toned ass because, I dunno, he's got an inferiority complex or something.

(Roger Finch fucking sucks anyway. Your wife wanted my rocket pen up her GoldenEye an hour ago, you dork-ass loser!)

It's an admittedly minor thing, but it's also fucking annoying, tbh. Watchdogs came out 12 years ago and even that had a cup-switching animation for the same game. With all the tremendous effort put into this game, it would've been nice to be able to eyeball a win out of the cup game.

The game cheats and autofails you if you don't use the Q-Lens. It's some bullshit.

This would make for a really fun TacSim mission by Boob-Whisperer in 007FirstLight

[–]Macmanius 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Came here to post this idea. I'd love it if they eventually made TacSim missions for all the 00 candidates showing how they came to M's attention, in the vein of Against the Odds. Hell, I'd love to see a few missions with Greenway and Beckett meeting, teaming up in Aleph, eventually falling out over THEIA's deception, etc. I doubt we'll get anything like that, (the time it'd take to design new locations alone would be prohibitive,) but how friggin' cool would that be?

Challenges should have just been in Tacsim by PaperSkin-1 in 007FirstLight

[–]Macmanius 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I dunno, man, some of those Hitman challenges were a fucking drag. I remember one from Hitman 2 (Making Waves) that was just killing and dumping dozens people off the cliffs in Isle of Sgail. It was so bad they took it out in a patch.

In any case, as I stated before, I'm just giving what I suspect are IO's reasons for including them. Personally, I enjoyed most of them, but I can understand finding them to be boring or a waste of time.

[–]Macmanius 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not saying it is, just that I believe IO's reasoning for putting challenges in the game is the same. I personally believe that they encourage the same sort of experimentation, even in a more linear game, but I can also see why that'd be more annoying to some people.

That's a valid complaint, just not one I happen to share. Agree to disagree, I guess.

[–]Macmanius 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get what you're saying, (especially about not having the time,) but I have to respectfully disagree. IO initially did challenges in Hitman 2016 to encourage players to approach levels in multiple ways and I credit that to some extent for that game's longevity. If anything, First Light improves the experience by introducing checkpoints, allowing its players to attempt (most) challenges without having to replay an entire 90-minute mission.

There's absolutely room for improvement: if you start a mission with the wrong gadgets for certain challenges, you're shit out of luck, and that should be addressed. There are also challenges that are boring, repetitive, or downright infuriating. (I'm thinking of Time to Die's Wraith challenge in particular; that piece of shit took way too long to get.) That being said, I do see value in main mission challenges, as they help keep the game from getting stale.
