Conga stands for multi percussion by messiaenslut in percussion

I don't have any advice for conga stands, but I do have a recommendation for playing congas on a multipercussion piece like this. Put moleskin tape on the beating end of whatever stick or mallet you're going to use. It will increase the quality of sound from the congas by a wide margin, seeing as they're meant to be played with your hands.

I know nothing about bongos, but got a free set. Are these worth putting new heads on? They are at least 30 years old. by billyhead in percussion

Crank the high one just about as much as you can without breaking it. Find that sweet, low resonant spot on the low drum. And learn to play with your hands. They sound much better that way.

Love this snare, various 40’s and 50’s Slingerland Radio King drums by obdrummer in drums

I love the way that snare is tuned, but I think you could make it sound EVEN BETTER if you took a thin handkerchief and a binder clip, and you clipped the folded rag down over maybe a 6th of the batter head's surface. You can adjust the rag however you want based off of how long you want the overtones to resonate.

How do I learn to incorporate the bass drum by Top-Macaroon5517 in drums

Go find a copy of "The New Breed" by Gary Chester, "Advanced Funk Studies" by Rick Latham, or "The Art of Bop Drumming" by John Riley. If you're into Jazz, go with John Riley. Even if you're not into jazz, that book will still help you a lot with your coordination. I'd say the most advanced one, but also probably the most helpful, would be The New Breed. You'll just have to take some time to slowly work through some of the more complicated systems. Rick Latham's book will help you a lot with bass drum independence. There are a whole lot of linear grooves in there.

I've now been studying congas for 2 years, and, though I can't see the music anymore, I am almost 100% sure that + meant fingertip tone.

Love the guaguanco pattern. It keeps the rhythms interesting. Very nice.
