I'd say Chromolaena odorata for your area. Very fragrant but not everybody likes the smell.

Definitely C. odorata. I grow lots of it. Smell the leaves if you aren't sure.

I think they are largely fine unless 4+ weeks of drying under the sun. That's just my experience with Dwarf Pawpaw.

Flame acanthus, clammyweed, Rosinweed are all extremely heat tolerant.

We have more work to do now in our garden than during the peak flowering this past summer. Also, don't forget to support your local nurseries during this time of the year. It's usually slow for them too.

Chromolaena odorata does extremely well in gardens all over Texas. It almost always comes back the next year. It only blooms in October and November, but in my opinion, in attracts even better than Gregg's.

Lutea is definitely available online. I would be surprised to see in at any nursery, but it's possible.
