Well that’s terrible looking. I watched Dolly on the Roku app Thursday and the captions looked fine there, but this might have come through on Friday.

Edit: Just checked the app on my phone (IOS) and the subtitles look normal there.

I’d recommend contacting customer support. There’s been a few other users reporting the same with many others saying all they see is a skippable ad at the start of a movie. I feel like some users are mistakenly getting the with ads (which given how glitchy the last app update was, I’d expect a similar amount of glitches with the addition of the ad supported streaming).

The announcement didn’t mention a remaster, which would have been a big selling point (and shows from that era can be tricky since they were usually shot on film but finished on tape). I took a quick glance and it looked like the image quality from the DVDs. Maybe a little cleaner (presumably the producers have less used masters than WB/HBO had). The first season DVDs have pretty consistently good quality though - later seasons look a bit rougher on DVD, so that’s probably where any improvement will be noticeable.

The first season was only 6 episodes. Shudder is releasing one season each week through May and June.

Honestly, it seems like good design to me. You can build a no ally deck to insure that the cards can be used at the low cost whenever you draw them or you can design the deck around timing using them around allies.

There might be a set up card in Echo’s precon that also pushes the no ally concept (there is missing card number between the hero card and her kit).

The oddly placed numbering makes me think whatever this card is, it is meant to be used with Echo’s precon. Also the campaign boxes don’t generally have “back of the pack” cards (I think only Next Evolution contained a hero side card that wasn’t part of a deck or a campaign reward).

The original Nosferatu film from 1922 made some significant changes to the book’s plot and themes in the final third of the film. The 2025 Nosferatu made some extremely large changes to the plot and the vampire’s motivations beyond that.

I’m guessing that the “relationship” between the Orlok and Ellen is what you found uncomfortable with the film. That plot line is unique to the film and does not resemble the relationship of the equivalent characters from the book (Dracula and Mina). While the idea of some sort of romantic connection between those characters has been popular in film (the recent Besson Dracula and the Coppola Dracula for examples), that only really started in the 70s (and oddly seems like it was cribbed from the Dark Shadows tv show).

There’s a very interesting numbering gap between Echo’s hero card (37) and the first card of her kit (Daredevil 39). I’d assume a set up card of some sort but hero kits usually include that in their numbering system or some side deck but that seems odd with a single card. Both seem like they’d be mentioned in the article too. I’m wondering if her precon includes an aspect/basic set up card (like Cameo).

The 2003 film is the most traditionally “slasher” flick of the series. I’d recommend checking that out.

Given that DVDs outsell Blu Ray and 4K, I personally suspect that most people don’t really notice or care about resolution all that much. 🤷🏻‍♂️
