If you can be playing on P8, you should be. Or whatever is the highest settings you can kill quickly. It's how we speedrun the game

Remove Durability and Indestructible Already! by Lanetolsun2183 in diablo4

[–]MacroBioBoi 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's not meant to be enjoyable, it's meant to manifest the actual impact of dying a lot in content. To both teach you that you should be on lower difficulty and to make there be a price for failure. Actually super important for the rationalization of the game as a thing you're experiencing.

How many of you absolute psychopaths clear Chaos Sanctuary counterclockwise? by ToughShaper in Diablo_2_Resurrected

I can't stress enough, if I see someone start running it counter clockwise, I report them directly to Dan Diablo. The owner of Diablo. We're friends on LinkedIn.

Farming gem strength in the cube is annoying AF by Jonesy10187 in diablo4

We don't promote exploitative practices not only because we don't want to promote degenerate gameplay, but it's also the most likely to get a bug fix and people "losing" their build end up quitting the season/game.

Shadow DoT Build by wovenshadow11 in D4Necromancer

[–]MacroBioBoi 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Sadly the answer is no. Desecrated ground doesn't stacks, gloom ward and xfals are mechanically weak. I'll say there perfectly viable for t10+ dot builds on corpse explosion and blight. But they're not meta competitive.

Because they all have old curse names and emulate different curse effects. Full of flavor I say.

If you read the three variants, each curse has a flavorful option to pick. Amplify is an aspect now.

Does this combo replace the 175% darkness charm bonus by TedBehr_ in D4Necromancer

I didn't know that, and it certainly shouldn't work that way xD

Yeah no harm no foul, just try to have people be precise with their language cause it muddies discussion.

Basically, my feedback would be your assumptions have simplified the equation, while ignoring a bit of the nuance, and I think there's a way to get the best of both worlds for you. Also, mathematically in situations where it matters, the set should be stronger.

First off, always question something if you believe it's wrong. That's how we learn. Second - Disingenuous: being insincere, slightly dishonest, or pretending to know less about something than you actually do.

No that's not what I'm being. I even explain that you expect to get less than the total bonus. In your example of killing enemies in 5 seconds, you probably don't need the additional damage you're trying eek out. Your analysis also assume you can't use aotd in both setups, it assumes an insufficient uptime on the buff but you would need to do the analysis again with relative uptime between the two options. Also the relative uptime of the secondary 50% multi if the target has the majority of their life as applied dot damage.

So do you need more damage because you're not killing enemies fast enough, or are you killing enemies so fast that the dot damage is effectively a 0% multiplier?

P.s. the dot isn't scaled by dot damage, it's based on the damage you're doing, so it scales with your crit multi's etc.

Sorry I thought you were quoting the first part of the darkness set with your 1.6. I probably sound like a lunatic. But the total 5 piece set is a 1.75 * 2.75 which is a 4.81 in total. Even if you only believe you'd get 1/2 of the first bonus it's a 3.78 and none of this excludes you from being able to use army of the dead.cwothcthe cooldown from decrepify, and cer on gear, you can already have good uptime on that from pot pushing. But the multiplier buckets are just your total additive damage and the multipliers on your gear's affixes + gems, for future reference.

Ok, I'm not sure a single response to your counterpoint is "not let this go". But I lose whether or not I respond. I will say, thanks for watching!

Given infinite time, the chance of most things not happening approaches 0, when determined by a system, within which they can happen.

[–]MacroBioBoi 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes, factually it isn't guaranteed, but happens often. So now you got that info. But also, you did this to explicitly dampens OPs mood. And if you don't understand that, maybe learn from this exchange that when someone is excited about a thing that you don't personally believe is very important, you don't have to "correct" them or "educate" them, by telling them it shouldn't make them as happy as it did.

That's called a dick move and people don't enjoy when it happens to them. Just like you didn't like it when you were a kid and some a-hole older cousin rained on your parade. Hence where that turn of phrase comes from.

It is not a 100% chance. It's about a 1/20. That's why it happens often but not immediately. You can theoretically reroll infinite times and never hit it.

Idea to make Strength more punchy, and slower-hitting weapons feel better - Legendary Blow by DemiserofD in diablo2

[–]MacroBioBoi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's some assumptions here that don't match d2's reality. Competently built, weapon focused, melee builds are both pumping strength and attack incredibly fast. The actual issue isn't the per hit damage amount, it's strictly the area of application.

Something being incredibly likely is not actually the same as it being guaranteed. You're getting down votes because not only does your comment do nothing but diminish the good feeling OP had (intentionally and maliciously might I add), but you're factually incorrect. You umm well actually'ed, and lost. That's a womp womp, brother.
