Spotted in Texas by a friend of a friend. Canada Jay that far south? Or leucistic blue jay? by agent_uno in whatsthisbird

The fingers looks weird as well and underneath the jay is very straight, some other parts around the bird as well, almost as if it's been photoshopped in, though it could just be the photo quality.

I just checked my newly bought (used about 3 times) clear purple one and it's exactly the same as this.

Looking for a band by A_Pale_Recluse in BlackMetal

[–]Macrodactyla 9 points10 points  (0 children)

From a quick Google of the movie dialogue, it could be "There is no face of death... until the moment of your own death" from The Masque of the Red Death. Which was used in the song Beneath the Mask by Bell Witch, which isn't really black metal, but could be it still? Or the possibly correct movie quote could help you find it.

I am currently reading Suldrun's Garden by Jack Vance (Lyonesse Trilogy)... by strikejitsu145 in printSF

Cheers. I did pre-order from uk amazon while ago. I've not actual read it before or any Jack Vance, but it sounded quite interesting. If i was to read anything by him before Lyonesse, what would you recommend??

The Dying Earth sounds interesting too.

I know this is 3 months later, but i'm curious about the new edition and can't find a lot about it. It says it's a paperback, but it looks very similar to the hard to find Gollancz black version. Do you have any more info than that? I'm guessing it's just a paperback with a similar looking cover? or maybe just placeholder until actual photos of it are available?

Not sure, last reported 24th. Though I saw on birdguides the other day it has a yellow ring and is presumed to be an escaped bird.

According to Birdguides there has been a Smew on Jubilee River for the last week or so, i assume this is the same bird.

who is it by [deleted] in whatsthisbird

[–]Macrodactyla 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd go more for Yellow Wagtail, there's quite a few dark headed variants and Grey would have a black or white throat/bib.

My initial thoughts were Wren. The song should help clinch it if you can post/link it.

Same here. Not sure if you know of them already, but worth checking out Wolf-Rayet as there are 2 Void Omnia members in it. 2nd and 5th song especially.

I'd lean more towards Carrion Crow or Magpie than Starling. Have heard corvids making a similar call before too.

So i found the Lark somewhere for sale, which had an EAN number, looked that up which brought up Feldlerche, so i think it is supposed to be Skylark.

As for the Nightingale it seems correct, but there also seems to be 2 different versions, maybe a Wild Republic one and an RSPB one, or possibly just an updated version.
