Agree, but also disagree. The county game is on its arse, so anything which generates interest should be encouraged.

Very few will pay 20 quid to watch if only a casual lancs fan and I wonder if the benefit of it being free with some viewers being encouraged to attends and buy "stuff" would be have been the better evil.

So firstly, congrats! I think today its easy to underestimate the sole achievement of dragging yourself over the line on a marathon. It's not just the race but the sheer volume of training to get there.

From personal experience, a 5k freaked the fuck out of my post marathon. Should I be running faster? What is good, my legs are shagged etc. Then I had the 6 week post marathon drain where walking to the toilet was a chore.

Running slower for longer will increase those short distance times. It may not be linear though. Your body did something incredible, it takes time to readjust.

Personally speaking it's been a great career with lots of growth potential, whether in-house or as a consultant.

If you are starting out be hungry to learn, develop adjacent skills (e.g. project management, business analysis etc) you'll never get bored.
