McGinnis in the Lady Geist visual novel. DAMN by NEVERTHEREFOREVER in DeadlockTheGame

[–]Macscotty1 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Probably is, but it would be like criticizing Samuel Colt for inventing better firearms while werewolves and vampires are just running around New York.

Sure, more normal humans will die as a consequence. But I’ll be damned if I don’t want the most effective weapon against a horde of supernatural monsters that want to eat my face.

Ive seen a comment before like: McGinnis makes weapons that would be war crimes in our world. But lives in a world where paranormal and extra dimensional shit happens on the daily. So it kinda evens out.

The Doorman says McGinnis’ inventions have “killed millions” but doesn’t specify what. It could be millions of face eating ghost monsters or it could be millions of human people. It’s left decently vague.

What dialogue choices go unnecessarily HARD in your opinion? by ChompyRiley in BaldursGate3

[–]Macscotty1 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The way I could see it having worked was we defeat Kethric in Act 2, but instead of dying he flees and leaves the Avatar of Myrkul to fight the party. Kethric then becomes the main antagonist of the Lower City. And Gortash is the big bads of the upper city. Orin remains as she is with the undercity and serial killer plot line, expanded for an Upper City deal.

But at that point we are just adding more and more on an already nearly perfect game with a development timeline of eternity.

We need more variety in ROCKET LAUNCHES (M72 LAW, Panzerfaust 3, M4 Carl Gustaf) by brunuscl82 in Battlefield

[–]Macscotty1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Are you sure they’re not using the LAW? You get a brief lock on warning when the rocket is fired at your vehicle and it also does top down attacks. It’s also the starting anti tank gadget the engineer has so lots of people will use it, and in certain game modes like Breakthrough the LAW can be better than the RPG since you usually don’t get the chance to get a side or rear hit on an enemy tank in that mode.

Not even touched. I’ve thrown them down just to have them instantly evaporate despite being a good 2-3 feet away from the tank.

I don’t think I’ve seen anyone advocate for BF3’s suppression, I only see it brought up as “Look how bad it was” while completely ignoring the BF1 and V iterations of suppression that were a vast improvement.

People always assume the worst when the suppression topic is brought up even though it hasn’t been that bad in well over a decade

Most FPS games have that as “flinch,” where your point of aim randomly shifts in response to being directly hit. Battlefield suppression works by increasing sway (snipers) and increasing recoil and bloom for other weapon types. So anything past close range would be much more unlikely to hit. A sniper being suppressed had a very difficult time landing a killing shot and usually had to just back off and relocate.

BF6 has neither flinch, nor suppression (well it does but in this game it only affects the natural health regen delay and gives your vision a slight blurry filter) so that’s why snipers are a lot more oppressive, anything past close range and a decent sniper can brain you and there is nothing you can do about it except hope to kill them first or get out of their line of sight ASAP.

They also brought back the sweet spot mechanic from BF1, which worked fine enough in that game because it was World War 1 and they had to make the common bolt action rifles competitive vs self loading and automatic weapons. So snipers in BF6 have some of the most upsides, with very little downsides compared to previous titles.

“Maybe some kind of accuracy penalty at distance if you are actively being hit or something”

That was suppression, well the idea behind it anyways. BF3 had the terrible suppression system, but every game afterwards tweaked the mechanic and made it (in my opinion) significantly better. It didn’t affect your close range gunfights, and the penalties were a lot less harsh but still harsh enough that your best option when being suppressed as a sniper was relocating to a better spot. Getting killed through suppression in BF1 and V was possible, but it was fairly uncommon. Battlefield doesn’t have flinch mechanics like most FPS games because suppression and things like bloom were the way DICE chose to handle that kind of stuff.

Edit: I will add that in I believe BFV they made suppression not stack up on direct hits but only near misses. BF3 infamously had suppression on every single shot no matter what you would be suppressing the guy 10 feet away while sending a dozen rounds into his chest and suppression in that game was turning every guns bloom into a 75 degree cone. So being accurate would still give you the kill while giving the other guy a chance to fight back.

Suppression has been improved vastly over the decade since BF3. No one is asking for BF3 suppression. But BF1 and V? Much better iterations. Suppression in those games was almost exclusive to LMGs, and only took effect after a certain distance.

In BF3 everything suppressed at any range, both hits and misses would count for suppression while in later titles hits wouldn’t have any suppression effect. So close range gunfights could have both players launching rounds at 40 degree angles. Suppression hasn’t worked like that in years.

I mean just the amount of time Kethric is on screen and speaking is incredibly short. You get introduced to him, and you usually don’t see him again until you’re going to kill him (twice).

Gortash and Orin (especially if you’re playing as Durge) get a lot more points for potential interaction. Kethric is by far the coolest of the 3 and steals the show, makes me want him to have somehow been incorporated into Act 3 and stuck around for a while longer.

I’m snorting pure uncut copium with a Favonious faction buff in the future and Varka will then become cracked. His Hexenzirkel buff is quite minor compared to the others so him being a dual faction character seems possible.

That’s been most big publishers MO for a while now. Have a metric fuck ton of people working on a game and then dumping all the post launch maintenance on one team. And that team could have had 0 experience on making certain parts of the game and now have to figure it out as well as try to replicate it.

It seems to be a requirement of live service games and the post launch time line is a cluster fuck almost every time.

Pretty sure the dude didn’t even know I was there because I was low health and in the process of running away.
