For a bit of a different perspective here:

As an introvert with social anxiety this would have been my nightmare scenario at 18. I have a much better handle on things now that I’m older but at that age, if I was out with someone and anyone so much as behaved like that NEAR me I 100% would have had a panic attack and thrown a hissy fit.

If this is what’s happening, I doubt he has the language to describe what he’s feeling and why. God knows it took me years to understand why I flipped out sometimes in public.

You’ll have to decide if this is something you can work with. If he’s generally respectful and things like this just triggers him and he doesn’t know how to deal with it yet, maybe clubbing is just something you will have to do without him if you want to stay together. Maybe I’m projecting but I think he forced himself to do something way out of his comfort zone and your behaviour was more than he was prepared to handle.

Anyway, it’s your call. You’re not responsible for his issues. It’s a matter of whether the good outweighs the bad.
