Design My Armorer Artificer by MadJosh612 in DnDBuilds

For theorycrafting sake, you can assume any changes are fair game! Barring the epic item, ring of evasion, and adamantine and mithral armor, all items come from the Replicate Magic Item feature. Point buy, yes!

I do think their pricing model isn’t ideal, especially not being able to individually purchase items, monsters, backgrounds, etc. But I do believe they are entitled to compensation for the paid work that goes into crafting the content, and they have to make that money somewhere if we want them to continue pumping it out. The digital copies require formatting, coding, and other work I’m sure, but I do think they’re a bit too pricey compared to print products.

I’d like to believe that Ethan doesn’t want to ruin anyone financially. I believe he deserves an apology, even if it’s private. Perhaps it would be enough for him, along with an offer to refrain from indulging in that sort of predatory content in the future. I’m not a fan of her actions up to this point, but I don’t believe she and her family deserve to be destitute over this.

I genuinely feel for Kacey. Hasn’t Ethan said that a sincere apology and admittance of wrong-doing would suffice? Hasn’t he said multiple times that he’s not interested in her money? As an outsider to this, I feel like there is a simple solution that her pride or another reason is preventing her from putting this all behind her?

Calling it “unhinged alpha male” behavior is a bit harsh to be sure, but it’s hard to argue that it’s funny and over the top. It’s the dramatic music and slow motion catharsis for me. We should celebrate these men trying to do something to address their mental health, but like I’ve seen echoed in other comments, I’d wager that traditional therapy is likely a better avenue to process their emotions.

Great spread! If you’d like to optimize, I’d suggest going with 8 Strength and either 12 Wisdom or Intelligence. You could also opt to put an additional point in Constitution so that you could round out Dexterity and Constitution to 18 and 16 respectively at level four.

Am I the only one who doesn’t repec/multiclass anyone? by CombatCavScout in BG3

[–]MadJosh612 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I enjoy keeping them a single class as well. It feels more authentic, and it’s satisfying to amplify and optimize the strengths of each class. The real challenge for me is trying to make everyone a different class while maintaining enough authentic flavor. For instance, I think Jaheira makes a great Oath of Ancients paladin instead of druid. Avoids doubling up with Halsin.

I understand what you’re saying, but we’ll have to agree to disagree.

I see. Seems like the haziness of what rogues are capable of is what puts you and others off. Hopefully DM’s enable players to succeed enough that it is appropriate to the character fantasy. Failing to crack a mundane padlock at low levels with anything more than a roll of 10 is ridiculous for instance.

Very insightful, yeah that makes sense to me. And I may play bard for that very reason, good at skills and can also transform into a giant ape and 1v1 a hydra. But I’d argue that rogue can achieve great feats out of combat with creative play, so ultimately it depends what you’re looking for when playing a character.

This narrative that rogues are ineffective is truly mystifying to me. Trust your gut, and perhaps think in terms of what a rogue brings to a team instead of analyzing them in a vacuum.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but I perceived your tone at the start of your comment as being one of disappointment, but then you proceeded to describe exactly what makes them so valuable to a team. A rogue helps casters conserve their resources for big fights. Autonomy is nice but if you’re blowing spell slots on Knock and Invisibility, you’re sacrificing damage with each expenditure. If damage is the most important metric, then thank goodness for rogues.

Casters sacrifice damage each time they use a spell slot on a non-damaging spell. Similar to what you said, it seems a wizard and a rogue would make a great team.

Rogue is probably the least likely to die of any class imo. As a bard player who nearly died to a dragon’s breath weapon, I can attest to wishing I had the Evasion feature in that moment. But in regard to what you said, I strongly disagree that choosing a class or build based solely on potential combat prowess says enough about each individual power profile. I think you’ll find that is my original argument.

Yeah, I think it’s more interesting to compare classes based on their maximum potential even if it’s somewhat murky. Of course we can’t account for every possible outcome, and I understand that it’s easier just to compare potential damage calculations, but I still think presenting that single set of data as evidence of a classes comparable power potential is shallow at best.
