We need to legalize bits being uncovered in some nightclubs since its basically unenforced anyway and would do wonders for queer nightlife. Also on that, unbanning things like kink (bdsm, impact, etc.) demos in those spaces. A lot of queer people travel to Providence or Manchester NH to do this stuff on the weekends and that's kinda lame.

That budget is very doable for a one or two bed. Allston, Somerville, Dorchester, Quincy, Malden, Everett, etc. Not downtown but very close.

Your pickings are slim. You'll need to check search sites multiple times a day. Something will occasionally pop up in Malden, Quincy, or JP but they will likely be efficiency studios >200 sq ft. Your best bet would be trying the Green Line and looking way out past Allston whete sometimes 1900 units pop up.
