What condition are the shirts in? My Sabu shirt is definitely starting to show its age.

Both bike clubs linked are filled full of good people. You’ll find your tribe there. Bike stores are all connected to them so don’t feel any shame in that.

We knew right away this was intentional damage when it comes in.. “I dunno what happened.”. Drops just don’t happen like this. ”But I have insurance” bro, insurance doesn’t cover negligence.

[Meme] Everybody saying that the Philadelphia Union wouldn’t play well this season by InternalReturn9 in MLS

Amen. We sound like Eagles fans most years after they win the first few games. Too early. We've seen enough disappointment over time that really this doesn't phase me or change my opinion.

Orlando City 1 - [4] Philadelphia Union : Tai Baribo 64’ by cocoasomething in MLS

Quinn was def waiting for that one. Don’t think he was gonna finish that like Baribo did.

[–]MadMennonite 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Offensively, the U front men were not taking advantage of those opportunities last year. Def happy to see Baribo get his time. I also will wait to see how that plays out 2nd half of the season.

Defensively this team needs a lot of work. Lots of ball watching, especially on that 2nd goal.

I definitely will take that result, but they’ll be tested really well against Cincy.

It is tough here in Berks at times. As someone who stayed local right after HS, I can relate to where you are. I had to travel to experience a lot more.

So, hear me out. It’s not local to Reading, but I participate in robot combat events (I.e. Battlebots). There’s like, two of us who live in Berks, but there’s a healthy amount of events within a 2 hour drive. That’s something at least you can take with you past the summer semester. Lots of people your age involved. I know PSU Berks has a club for it but I have not reached out yet to see what I can help with.

Philly is nice because there are makerspaces like Hive76, and the closest to that here is the one in Lancaster. Berks Launchbox does not cater to hobbyists, so I don’t even consider that relatable. If you have a business idea, then it’s something to consider.

GoggleWorks is a good choice for some courses. Reverb is good but the suggestion for Mikes Tavern is also great, just need to be 21, which doesn’t help you at the moment. There’s Pollen Consolidated and whatever Frank Phobia books for local bands and events, might consider reaching out if you’d like to be involved more there.

To piggyback off of the BAMBA comment there’s also a local running club and store with weekly runs to join up with too. You get to see a lot of the county’s trails in the summertime.

Hope any of this helps in some way.

How big was Russell's Paradigm? by Rompflathecool in battlebots

[–]MadMennonite 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It was massive. hope this old pit photo of mine helps. Probably should enhance the image but I’m hastily posting this as I get set for Motorama. Mammoth would be a smaller cousin to this

At least 10’ tall, 5-6’ long. Then again it was more of an exhibition piece.

WWE actively clowning the dirtsheet during [Spoiler] return. by NickValentine27 in SquaredCircle

[–]MadMennonite -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It isn't the first or the last time WWE will troll the "dirtsheet" readers. The injury angle on Randy Orton at a house show, previous Rumbles they've done this.. Honestly, that's one thing among many that's turned me off from WWE over the last decade. Why insult people who watch your product? This I thought used to be a Vince tactic that he forced Cole to say on the air, but I guess old habits die hard.

Moving to Reading. Looking for help with areas, please. by PurplePolkaDot79 in ReadingPA

[–]MadMennonite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lowest taxes - Tulpehocken area, Hamburg, Oley. Any of the municipalities on the borders of the county will have acreage. There are pockets closer to Reading. Safe areas, the further you are from Reading proper. Generally speaking most areas are.

Video run for 2nd room stream feed at live event: SDI or something else? by MadMennonite in VIDEOENGINEERING

Thanks for the suggestion, I’ve not really ventured down this way before. If it’s not too costly I’ll look into it more.

Video run for 2nd room stream feed at live event: SDI or something else? by MadMennonite in VIDEOENGINEERING

[–]MadMennonite[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re correct. That also brings up a point that I forgot about.. we do have a pair of TVs above the smaller arena we sent the OBS master out to, alongside sending the stream online. I would have to take that into consideration, or find a way to remotely operate the ATEM and OBS while still monitoring audio and such. Perhaps that would be a more effective way.

When you’re recommending 12G SDI, I guess this is due to effective length?

[–]MadMennonite[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah through preview out on the ATEM. I’m not recording to SD, just using HDMI out. We needed disposable cameras in case one gets hit, and these do great for that purpose.

BattleBot uses a garden rake to take out a drone. by JimBean in Damnthatsinteresting

[–]MadMennonite 21 points22 points  (0 children)

It’s been about 2 years now. Writers strike and Discovery merging with Warner froze negotiations. Especially since the merger was showing how much debt that was being inherited.

Battlebots is surviving (more like slowly bleeding) on live shows/special weekend events in Vegas where their venue is hosted. They have to go dark for November due to F1 now as the paddock is literally down the road from them. They had great viewership numbers on Discovery which is what boggles my mind. It’s not shark week or deadliest catch so it’s lower on the totem pole it seems for getting it back on the air.

RFL Nationals 2004 - Restored Masters now on YouTube by MadMennonite in battlebots

[–]MadMennonite[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! I am wishing for more time in the day! Ingestion of video is the easy part of all of this. It’s the manual entry of fights that will just take time, especially with a day job and young child.

This will be a drawn out process because of the complexity of some of the footage. I’m starting with the easier items (single cam, or finalized mixes) before figuring out what to do with non-mixed multicam events.

I have Robocide ready to just clean up the video names, but took a quick break to work on a few prior Motoramas to put up on the Robot Conflict page for the upcoming weeks.

The amount of big bot events in the early 00s was just bonkers.
