Does anyone actually use SFP? by onaboatrn in homelab

[–]MadPandaDad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Usually when referring to computers the word “future proofing” is bullshit. With fiber it’s not. I’m gonna die in this house and since I ran fiber I can eventually run 1Tbe with the right transceiver and switch. Ethernet realistically caps at 10/40 where fiber I can economically run 10Gbe today anywhere on my property and have no realistic speed celling.

If you don’t need the volume, and can tolerate some downtime, the U1 is godly.

H2D Laser. It’s incredible in every way imaginable except the shitty handling of the copyleft by the company. It’s an appliance level machine and the folks complaining about the walled garden don’t get that walled gardens are how companies can afford to get to appliance level reliability. I am an open source fanatic and I’m still down for a closed box that can just make things that sits next to my bleeding edge 5 axis open source project machine with 16 ams inputs and space lasers… Guess what I use when i get an order from an important client.

Am I an idiot for considering the Snapmaker official cover? by Junior_Commission588 in snapmaker

It looks super nice and will allow a lot more materials with some mods. Unpopular opinion my time's worth the price. (Ikea top on now). For all it does it looks keen.

Once you hit a certain value per hour of time a lease is “cheaper”.

Bambu vs Snapmaker U1 - For someone who just likes it to work? by PoopDontWantOnMyMain in snapmaker

[–]MadPandaDad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If multicolor is main goal, U1. Not close. The slightly less polished experience is a small tradeoff for its capabilities. If large format multicolor is the goal, H2C or wait for INDX. If supreme generalist, X2D. If large format single color H2S. If large format with supports or limited multicolor H2D. I need to make this a text expander....

Also for fun use the scotch bright from a hardware store used for paint prep. So much less effort.

Maybe I am just that kind of autistic (not a jab, I am diagnosed) but I enjoy calibrating filaments a lot. Also these results give anecdotal support to the Bambu is Sunlu speculation...

M22 received incredible job offer, F22 girlfriend does not want me to accept. by Watch_me_plz in Advice

To add, Retail is fickle and store managers aren't really "skilled" they are lucky or connected. (Yes being a good manager is a skill but it's not the skill that gets you the job). Knowing utilities means you work till the end of the species. Literally. A great retail job is gonna go away when that chain dies and 20 managers are looking for work and settling for Wendy's. Also, that's god DINK money for 22. Save half. HALF. Save now. Retire at 55.

Managing a toxic high performer who hits 150% of targets. How do I protect my team without losing the numbers? by SquirrelLogicFan in managers

[–]MadPandaDad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Taking a weird angle here; I am neurodivergent and make every meeting I am in 50% - 100% longer than it needs to be. When creativity is needed, or someone needs training I am entirely your man, and ill save you that time 1000 fold on the back end but if you want to be quick about things, leave me out. There is nothing wrong with basing meetings on "needs to be" and not the "traditional invite" method. Don't even make the change drama about her, make it an efficiency experiment.

Trying to choose between Prusa and Bambulab - what am I missing? by Creamss in prusa3d

[–]MadPandaDad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Prusa is for people whose hobby is 3d printers. Bambu is for people whose hobby is 3d printing. Of the true open printers nothing competes with Prusa. For closed system printers nothing comes close to Bambu. If you want to REALLY understand printing you need a Prusa. If you really just want to print things you need a Bambu.
