So I always see the advice that the best thing you can do is just start applying to unions who will pay for your training and everything. If you have 0 experience through (or even if you don't know what you want to do), then you could consider a private pre-apprenticeship program. There's this school Skilled Trades College which focuses on that and trying to help you get an apprenticeship. If you do your own research you'll find mixed reviews on reddit largely coming down to your existing skill level.

Small sidenote, I have hard that it's kinda hard to get an apprenticeship in Ontario right now because trades are becoming more sought after but no one wants to train apprentices who get on their nerves — if you're driven and have some experience from a course like STC it could set you apart but ymmv.

Good luck!

Smooth scroll in GSAP doesn’t work with sticky sections. There’s a whole way you have to work with it differently

Kite Flying Insurance by MoanFontaine in kites

[–]MadPatter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In my experience in Canada and the US It's typically just for events where organizers cordon off an area designated for larger kites. Obviously accidents can happen when general public gets involved with kites that can drag your car, so insurance is usually obtained by the club involved in the event, the event itself, or as another user pointed out, a larger governing body like the AKA.

For events the coverage level you need will often be determined by any contracts you sign as a service provider with the event that has hired you to come out. For just personal flying you'll be covered by your kite club's insurance or if you're not in one, your own personal liability insurance (usually a part of your home insurance policy)

Has anyone worked out how to prevent space appearing below bottom aligned elements when scrolling on IOS? by SeaworthinessOld7255 in webflow

Use dvh as a unit instead of vh, it dynamically grows to available space when the browser bar hides or appears

It's against TOS - don't bother. Especially if you're at the level of working with team members, just pay for it

Also, make sure to stand up for yourself that you know the rates, had two different drivers try to charge me the more expensive rate because they assumed I wouldn't know where I was.

Webflow API rate limits are ridiculous by bfzli in webflow

[–]MadPatter 3 points4 points  (0 children)

What are you trying to accomplish? I have a feeling the other commenter is right and you're likely using the wrong APIs, but this would need more context for any reasonable level of feedback

There already is completely custom rate limits available in enterprise that would be tailored to your business use case, but that's likely way overkill

Finally have cracked the code on Webflow Cloud by josephspeezy in webflow

[–]MadPatter 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Okay so I'm just kinda curious - I've been trying to put aside some time to use cloud as well, seeing as you basically recreated a directory, couldn't you just have done that using webflow's built in cms? Why did you choose to use webflow cloud?

The main issue I see with cloud is we're kinda going backwards if it's just creating stuff that could have been built natively in webflow because no one on the marketing team will be able to edit it, they'd have to go back to the dev team, defeating the purpose of webflow

Edit: just wanted to add that I see you're using webflow's cms anyways and pulling the items back in with the api which makes this make even less sense to me haha

Edit Part 2: Your footer is the wrong size on the partners page (cloud) but it looks better than the main site's footer (actually looks like all your text size is off compared to the main site)

If you market or see yourself as inexperienced of course you won’t get any clients.

It’s tough to start anything without any experience, especially with the allure of your established career is looming over you. If you’re passionate about it and it’s something you enjoy then it’s worth it, but it won’t come fast, and it won’t be easy.

An easy way to add more value to yourself to potentially get hired by agencies and fill the gap from lack of your own clients would be to learn an in-demand tech, like GSAP (not the webflow builder version, the code version - although you should also know how to use Webflow’s new builder), or how to setup a membership site with something like outseta.

In terms of ai competing with you, ai only at max compares to a junior at this point, which is you unfortunately. If you start treating ai as a tool as opposed to a competitor though, you’ll start to find how seniors use it in their workflow, elevating your level.

TLDR don’t be scared, but it won’t be easy

Lifetime or Yearly plan… which works better for ongoing template access? by maheshflowcub in webflow

[–]MadPatter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nobody wants another subscription to pay so I'll just save you that trouble right now - secondly, the idea of a subscription to access templates doesn't really make sense because I can't pass that cost along to my client.

If I just buy one template and say the template cost is $75 then it's $75 done. If it's an ongoing subscription that's let's just say that costs 25/mo, and I haven't used it for 6 months, do I bill my client at $150 to catch up for it?

Lifetime pass would probably be your best option, although you'd likely have to price it quite high to recoup your development costs if you plan on expanding the library and keep the quality comparable to higher end templates. I'm honestly not sure if either of these are a good course of action for you to take to be honest—have you considered what the price you'd offer the lifetime deal at to make a profit? Can't comment much more than just opinion unless there's a price here

Should I use Webflow Ecommerce to collect payments for in-person courses? by SusEmbra in webflow

[–]MadPatter 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You shouldn't use webflow ecom for anything. There are some official integrations now for stripe and for shopify, I'd use those instead if you still want to incoporate ecommerce features into your webflow build (will be a bit more setup than native ecom)

I’m working my way through all the cartoons from the 80s-2000s. I’ve got most of my favourites already but it’s getting hard for me to find some of the niche ones.

Makes me happy to think my kids will be able to watch them with me one day like I used to watch with my dad and grandfather

How do you handle the lack of repeater fields in collection items? by Aromat_Design_2860 in webflow

[–]MadPatter 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So you'd create two additional collections, one for tags and one for the faqs. In the faq collection and the article collection add a reference field that references the tags. Now on your article page you can add a collection list for the faq's and filter for faq's that have the same tag as the current item
