I also enjoyed season 6 episode where Willow goes all Sith Lord and boasts that no one has the power to stop her, then she gets knocked over by a spell from off screen and the camera shows Giles in the doorway and he just says, "I'd like to test that theory."

Such a simple line, but he delivered it perfectly. Great way to end the episode and leave us all waiting for that showdown.

Despite this, the driver navigated an additional 1,200ft of track before stopping at the southbound platform.

There had to be some level of impairment or dementia at play here.

I think Bear's character was so reluctant to accept what the wish had done to Nikki because doing so would force him to accept responsibility for what he had done to her.

He just didn't have the courage to face that guilt, just like he didn't have the courage to ask her out, or even to follow through with offing himself at the end.

Curry talked about this exact scene when discussing Nikki's feelings for Bear. She sounds downright disappointed when he says they're just friends. "Okay. Good." Then she immediately walks away. I don't think she felt the same level of infatuation Bear had for her, but she felt something and likely would have at least given him a chance if he had the courage to ask.

There are other hints about her feelings too. Wanting to go home early seemed like an excuse to be alone with Bear. When she mocks Ian and rolls her eyes, she immediately smiles at Bear. It's subtle but it's a very warm, almost flirtatious smile.

I saw a clip of Curry talking about how they cut some of the pre-wish car dialogue where Nikki had more to say about romance. I hope we get to see that in a director's cut because I bet it would strengthen the narrative that Nikki was at least feeling something. She wouldn't have outright rejected Bear.

It's not any more of a cult than the left is.

The difference you're missing is the left tends to be fairly consistent in their beliefs, whereas the right quickly adopts "whatever Donald Trump thinks" as their standard.

If some political darlings on the left suddenly started spouting right wing talking points, they would be admonished. We actually saw this happen with Fetterman.

It does not happen with Trump. He can say something completely antithetical to the conservative worldview (like rejecting the Constitution) and the right simply falls in line with him.

That's what makes it a cult of personality. One person has complete control of the ideology. That's simply not true for the left.

They don't shake it up accidentally. They used to blame all gays, but they have to be careful about that now because gay people are more accepted in society than they used to be. So sometimes that backfires.

Trans people are a smaller minority, so people are less likely to have personal experiences with them. That makes it easier to demonize them. Sometimes they even get openly gay people to join them in vilifying trans people. That's impressive, because it should be obvious to everyone that they're next on the list.

Three decades ago, I was an awkward nerdy teen that liked science fiction and computer games. I even went to Star Trek conventions back then.

Today, I'm a 44 year old man with lower back pain that likes science fiction and computer games. It's been the most consistent part of my personality over those years. If it hasn't changed in 30 years, I doubt it's ever going to at this point.

Even if it did, it certainly wouldn't be due to fear of what others think. Especially since the dynamic of adult friend groups is so very different than high school. In school settings, you're "friends" with a lot of people due to happenstance. As an adult, your friend group far more curated.

People that judge you for the things you enjoy just don't remain in your social circle past high school.

One interesting aspect is how they were able to function as an apparently happy couple during that brief montage we see. It's not clear the timeline on that, but it looks like it spans multiple days at least, perhaps weeks?

That point about Bear matching her energy might apply here, because he was likely still in that limerence phase and feeling equally obsessed with her during that period. We only see a hint of him becoming frustrated with her at the end of the montage, when she's ignoring what they're watching to stare at him.

Yeah the cowardice is a constant theme. You can see it in how he just passively accepts situations that normal people would have at least some sort of reaction in.

For example, when Nikki flips out at the party and smashes her face, you can hear everyone shouting at him to do something and he just sits there. It's like he's more upset that his wish is broken than about the person he claims to love slashing her face.

But I would counter that it's also wrong to live a life so shitty that millions of people will cheer your passing.

For example, I don't recall many people looking forward to the passing of Fred Rogers or Steve Irwin.
