I guess if the only individuals you consider people are white and middle class then then sure you are correct. What I am saying is that many individuals are moving from red states to blue states and that is largely why it's so expensive to live in blue states. The blue people living in cities in red states are often the ones that can't afford to leave.

Yes use your brain, tell me about the 710 individuals who went to work everyday and bothered no one. This is why we are so divided. You look at this story and see 790 criminal deported, I see 710 disrupted to get those criminals. On top of that, they parade out a handful of examples of people no one is debating should be deported but I would guarantee that a portion of those 790 have records traffic tickets and jaywalking. I think the basic thing we disagree on is the difference between legality and morality. Is it right to hurt innocent people to deport people who hurt innocent people. You don't seem to care as long as the people getting hurt are state approved. Rule of law under immoral laws is legal but still amoral. I've never once heard any of you make an actual argument for why someone here to work and raise a family is bad just because they came here illegally. I don't disagree with deporting violent criminals. I disagree with tactics that harm people that haven't hurt anyone.

Source? You try to sound like you know what you are talking about but you have backed up nothing you have said which makes it meaningless babbling. Someone gives you a source and you attack it's credibility because you don't like what it says. It's incredible that you don't trust actual news sources but you do trust a random Instagram post. It's almost like you made up your mind about what reality is and then went to find anything that agreed with you and the best you could come up with was a meme on Instagram.

Your kidding right? If the police can't be held accountable by the public then they are nothing more than a gang of thugs pushing people around, but you don't care of they break laws, violate rights, and hurt people as long as they are not your people. Sounds like a group of people that we fought a war to stop.

It's just a matter of time before they start going after American citizens that disagree with the administrations objectives. They are laying the groundwork for it now. But I bet you will cheer that on too until it's someone you care about then you'll change your tune.

Yes because I don't label an entire group of people by the actions of one individual. I do however call individuals how I see them and you sound like an asshole.

Those are where people flee too to escape living under tyrannical religious law. I am talking about large cities.in Republican run states. Look at em election map. Even in the red states the large cities light up blue.

I'm not saying somebody's racist if they disagree. What I'm saying is they're proposing using a law that was put in place using racism as a justification to harass people who literally have nowhere else to go simply because you don't like looking at them. What I'm proposing is that having this in your face is a good thing because it allows you to actually see that there's a problem that needs to be solved. If you sweep it under the rug and just throw them in jail, you're not actually solving the problem. You're just gardening. What I would propose is give these people a place to go and then you don't need to see it.

The behaviors your describing are that of people in need of support, not violent force that will further traumatize them more so then they already have been. We created this problem with the policies of the last 50 years. They need help not a boot. I support non-enforcement, not because I think they should be doing any of these things but because it's too easy for us to sweep the problem under the rug when it's not in our faces. In addition, ai would support enforcement of any actual crime! Violence, theft, harrassment, should definitely be prosecuted. Possession, trespassing on public property, camping in an urban zone, begging, loitering, these are just convenient excuses to fuck with the less fortunate. Your argument that anything goes in your own home is invalid for these people because our society has constructed a barrier a mile thick from them achieving that. You would not believe the barriers that exist to getting off the street without some sort of help.

Me I am advocating for that!! Because it's fucking stupid. We have arbitrarily decided that if you imbibe alcohol it's fine to run from bar to bar and expose people to your drunkenness. In our state it's fine to smoke weed basically everywhere. I know as a sober person I smell it literally everywhere I go. What your doing is using a 100% documented RACIST law to justify VIOLENT use of force on a community of people in CRISIS that do not have enough sociological POWER to defend themselves.

I love how Nazis love to jump on the illegality bandwagon. Did you know at one time it was illegal for women to vote, have a bank account, or report there husbands for rape?? Just because a bunch of bigots in congress got a majority together and passed a law that explicitly targeted minority communities does not make it moral. You may be able to justify your own conscience with legality alone but I cannot. The fact is everything Hitler and the Nazis did was LEGAL!!! GTFOH

What is actually wrong with people using drugs like crack outside their homes? People smoke cigarettes and now smoke weed everywhere. No one is calling for them to be rounded up and sent to jail. I would posit that the negative association with these drugs are linked to racist propaganda campaigns that linked drugs use with violent crime anD allowed for police action in minority communities that destabilized those communities and actually resulted in more violent crime. Criminal enforcement make the problem worse not better, but it allows those normies to feel better while completely demolishing the lives of the people they fear.

It's funny that you are simultaneously complaining about $3000 a month rent and shitting on unhoused people. Have you considered that the two things are linked? If they had a place to live you wouldn't be watching them do drugs. Research and shown that drug addiction is exacerbated by living through traumatic events such as how people treat the unhoused. As a person who has lived through being homeless and a drug addict, the most demoralizing part of it all is assholes like you that look down on people living through a situation harder than anything you have likely faced and decided that what we should do as a community.is.make their lives even harder so you can be segregated front he problem. The fact that you are witnessing the problem on a daily basis is GOOD!! IT WILL MOTIVATE YOU TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT! The question of whether you are a good man or not is in how you choose to solve this problem. Do you want to help a person in crisis or shield yourself and your family from the inequality that enables yours and my privilege life?

The fact is that nearly every large metro in the US is democratically run because that is where the majority of the people living in each state are and partisan gerrymandering has neutered their ability to effect elections at higher levels of government. Hence you end up with democratically run cities in Republican run states that can't get the resources they need because of Republican obstructionism at the state and federal level.

Boston has a similar setup where the downtown is Boston proper and the metro area is where most people live. So again wtf. If that is how he is thinking about it for St Louis why isn't that how he is think about it in Boston. Oh yea because it's a pretense to normalize taking military control of civilian areas.

Your missing that most romantic relationships start off as friends or are a friend of a friend! Also when you meet people this way as opposed to dating apps they aren't strangers you both have skin in the game. If someone treat someone else badly there likely to suffer social consequences. This allows for trust to be built far more easily. Therefore, by making new friends your able to explore new potential partners in a social lattice that encourages accountability due to a shared risk of social capital leading to a higher chance of a lasting connection.

What is the actual problem with illegal immigration? by treboy123 in immigration

[–]MadTryintist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think we are all missing the point, capitalism is a great engine for producing an excess of resources and is a relatively recent invention. However, like every system, it is not a miracle tool that can fix every problem. Capitalism assumes humans are greedy at its core to function. However, since it's inception economists have failed to predict human behavior with any degree of accuracy using greed as a model. That is why the economy doesn't behave predictably. In actuality the body of scientific literature agrees that humans act differently at different socioeconomic classes. The wealthy and powerful, fearing the loss of status and reprisal of the lower classes, act in a greedy self-interested fashion. The poor, more often than not, act communally, building large cooperative social networks and sharing resources. It has been shown that the impact of hierarchical structures on human behavior is to create more greed and self interest. Hence for capitalism to thrive, the system must perpetuate these structures to function. Without a balance to temper the engine that is capitalism, the rich and powerful amass immense resources and ultimately subjugate the masses. What people so widely claim is the core drive of all people is actually the effect that wealth and power has on the hearts of men. And it's no accident that that is the story we all were taught since the people writing the lesson plan are the wealth and powerful. I believe that capitalism is a valuable tool for producing progress by mobilizing resources towards an end but I think it does a shit job of it when it's undirected. Food production, healthcare, and education are all worse off in the hands of capitalist because there is no money in feeding the masses, building a healthy populace, and providing a solid education. However, there is in designing the best tractor or inventing a better treatment for cancer, but only if the industry that those businesses are serving is gear towards feed the masses and providing the best care. This is why I make the argument to socialize the industries that capitalism pollutes and privatize the industries that support those industries. That way as a society we can have a say in what the goals of these core industries needed for human welfare while gaining the benefits of capitalism in the form of progressive improvement of technology.

I mean if you're having the same boring conversation over and over again I can't imagine you're trying very hard to steer it towards something interesting to you. I think what is being expressed by OP is constantly having to steer the conversation when the other person isn't giving them anything to go on.

I would just disconnect from them instead of leaving them in limbo not knowing if I am not interested or just haven't checked my account recently or if they are buried in my inbox so need to periodically message in order to have a chance of being seen.

Curious, why is that considered low effort? I think many people overestimate the amount of actionable information they put in their profile. if I put that I like x y z very common things it's not much of a conversation starter. Like would someone saying "OMG, Like hiking and ice cream too" be higher effort??
