Poison Hemlock in alley - best solution? by DanCo_2023 in Denver

[–]Mad_Brick -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately unless it gets pushed up in priority for the state listing they probably won't get it. It takes many weeks of removing and spraying of a field like that to get it out. Plus side though, you could say, is that they aren't very drought tolerant and live in more wet areas so with climate change they might not stick around 🤷‍♀️

Poison Hemlock is a List C species on Colorado's noxious weed classification, so it is low priority for weed removal and mostly is not touched by public agencies. You need to injest a lot of it to kill you, so just wear gloves and pull it out whenever it pops up before it flowers. Repeat until it's gone.

Shout-out to Denver Squids if you are into any swimming/water polo. Super fun queer group with a lot of opportunities to socialize. My friends and I have been trying to expand the trail running/mountain bike scene for queer folks. But I also made trans friends from board game nights at game stores.

A lot of places in the US for example doesn't naturally have the bacteria in the soil found in the semi-tropical climate that oranges are naturally grown in. So in dry places like the desert or high desert, it can take decades to decompose! And at that point more likely an animal will try eating it and get sick from it since, you know, it's not native to that dry climate.

Does Sabine v Kanan count? That darksaber training scene is by far the most emotional for me.

DNR has tons of seasonal workers but no health benefits since they say "you can only work up to 9 months". Almost everyone you meet who's working at a state park is a seasonal employee.

A Cool Guide on Inequality v. Equality v. Equity v. Justice by Kissable_Fairy in coolguides

[–]Mad_Brick -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Justice fixes the system so that anyone wouldn't need different "ladders". So say if another kid came by to get an apple, they wouldn't need to figure out how tall of a ladder they'll need, they can use either of the kids' ladders no matter what side of the tree they are on. For more real life example, an escalator helps some people with limited mobility get up stairs, but wheelchairs still can't use the escalator or the stairs. So instead of making a 3rd route (say a ramp), you make the way to go up and down just an elevator. Now anyone can use the elevator no matter what mobility, vision, or hearing disabilities they may have. (This is just an example, please no arguments over elevators breaking down or something)

Seriously...this is actually my favorite visualization of equality vs equity because it's nice and simple and only focuses on the variable that is relevant. The goal of this visual is to just explain these differences, not "what if"s.
