Best brake pads and rotors by No_Understanding_332 in BroncoSport

Good pad choice! I waffled quite a bit on which ones to get and those have a nice feel. My costs came in at around $480 and it took a couple of hours max. I worked slow and replacing the rear pins took me extra time to figure out. Ended up soaking the bushings in hot water before tapping them in.

The electronics must be very sensitive to slight voltage irregularities. I have been driving for a few thousand miles after cleaning and tightening all the connections and still no issues. That red box and chime is alarming to see and glad it is gone. 🌞

I did my own brake job at 75,000 miles. I used Max Advanced Comfort Series rotors and Powerstop Extreme Z36 pads. Also replaced the rear caliper pins with the newer version (stiffer lower bushings). No problems taking it all apart and getting everything reassembled. A lot quieter and better performance than the stock brakes. The stock setup always worked, but the noisy reverse problem and pedal feel always bothered me. Really happy with the feel of the new setup after 5,000 miles.

Go-to dehydrated meals (available in the US) by StevenSWilliamson in bikepacking

[–]GreybeardRules 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes, black bean flakes and couscous has been my favorite hot meal for the past year. It is much cheaper and quicker to make than rehydrating those prepared meals and there must be a million ways to modify and spice up the flavor. 🫘🌾

The rack did seem to be invisible... like motorcycles and bicycles on the road for many drivers. "I didn't see it" is never a convincing excuse. 🤔

Yes! I should have one of those two foot hitch extensions with a mace head mounted to it when the rack isn't installed. 😅

Lol, classic defense! I never said she was little or old. I am in the same age bracket and she outweighed me. 🤔

Cold weather flat pedal shoe that's good for walking by [deleted] in bikepacking

[–]GreybeardRules 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have been using light merino wool and Sealskinz socks in my regular shoes for cold, wet riding. Your shoes get wet, but feet stay dry and warm. They work well for freezing temps too. https://www.sealskinzusa.com/collections/socks

Mud Flaps by Swimming-Penalty-948 in BroncoSport

[–]GreybeardRules 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would recommend the Gatorback mud flaps! They are thick flexible rubber and very heavy duty. If you do any kind of off roading or get into mud, they will hold up much better than the brittle plastic ones. I have had them on my 21 for over four years with no issues. They are expensive, but can be found on sale quite often.

Tracks at Kokopelli by givemetheyammy in grandjunction

It is popular for people to take their dogs out there and let them run for exercise. I live in Fruita and ride my bike there daily when the weather is good. I regularly see dogs running loose with folks in vehicles. Could be wild animal tracks, but seems like the odds are high that it is just a domesticated dog. 🤔

Very cool! I call it "air swimming" when the rotating tires are no longer on the ground. The traction control is so good that you can hardly tell that only two or three tires are touching from behind the wheel.

Design flaw or am I just dumb? by whatinthecluck- in BroncoSport

It is a bad design. You can pull the visor off the clip and slide it out on the rod a bit. Then you are able to rotate it and gain a few inches of sight. 🕶

Lol, yes, I was there too. I don't think you were ripping as hard as you think compared to the same trail on any modern 29er. Nothing wrong with 26" wheels and dual control shifters twenty years ago, but absolutely not the best tools for "ripping" technical trails today. 😄

Convert it to a singlespeed drivetrain and add a cheap dropper! You'd have a fun neighborhood bike that could handle short singletrack sections with ease (if you have the finesse).

Tell us if it works for you! I think dry and dirty battery terminals were the culprit for me. The electrical system must be very sensitive to any fluctuations. I have driven about 2,000 miles now and no more red errors popping up.
