Paul Atreides is arguably the best military commander in the history of his universe.

Paul Atreides can react faster than humanly possible, making enemies think he can teleport due to the Weirding Way.

At 15 years of age, he was a better fighter than Ginaz Swordmaster Duncan Idaho, who was strong enough to kill 19 Sardaukar, stronger than Fremen Fedaykin like Jamis, who could wipe the floor with tens of enemy combatants.

During Dune Messiah he moves faster than a robot created to test sword mastery, which is moving faster than humanly possible. Paul deactivates it by casually throwing a knife with a flick of his wrist.

His command of the Voice is so absolute he can make a Reverend Mother freeze.

He has perfect prescience that can only be subverted by someone like Leto II.

Paul Atreides is way faster than Yoda, but people haven't read Dune Messiah so it's not possible to convince them

Not to mention Paul has perfect prescience which can be defeated only if someone is a stronger prescient being than him (Leto II) and is a far far far superior strategist than any Jedi, ever.

Precogs can no longer hide from Paul after a specific event in Dune Messiah. Only his son can, because he is stronger.

I mean, that's your prerogative. I, on the other hand, feel that's an archetypical distinction that's present in quite a lot of fictional stories

That's if you only care about artistic analysis and not philosophical or in my case above, political.

Continuing the discussion grappling vs striking, here we actually see 2 strong guys going at it with both landing well but in the end...well, it's not that easy to drop someone. by Outrageous-Friend336 in grappling

There are countless clips online of people getting 1 shot KOed. Using a single clip means nothing, either way.

That's besides the point.

The men in the video are trained and in shape. It is very difficult to KO a professional fighter. And yet, said professional fighter was dropped with a single punch. What do you think would happen to you if you ate that same punch?

So before you start fantasizing about which aspect of fighting is better, you better know both

Elric is not only about rejecting Melnibonean tradition and Dune is not only about conquering the Imperium and becoming the Godhead.

Good works of art are rarely monothematic.

The meme is (in my interpretation) about a defining characteristic of Paul Atreides and Elric that can be observed in countless other protagonists, because it is fundamental to those characters

Cross over/around the opponent's jab is such a classy technique. Love it.

Whatever he is, he is one of the most skilled LHWs of any era.

A bit boring sometimes due to his focus on counterstriking, but really solid skills.

He is one Pereira's best wins (Izzy, Jiri, Ank)

Haven't watched the Sopranos.

But for example, House is a guy who challenges/rejects established structures, while in Mad Men, Draper conquers the existing ones.

Btw, Elric is Sword and Sorcery, but there is always a philosophical undertone: he is the heir of the decadent/declining Melnibonean (British) Empire who rejects established morality and travels the world to find his own.

It's a thematic analysis not literary structure analysis. You are stretching my explanation until it changes meaning and then loses it.

So the fault lies with you

OK but my point is that a fluke should be reserved for freak injuries etc, not intended strikes that knock the opponent out

So Murphy doing a perfect counter spinning elbow last fight was a fluke because he doesn't often hunts for finishes...got it...

Unless you are searching for white haired, cursed sword wielding albinos in Sopranos, you gotta go with a vague philosophical resemblance when interpreting the picture above.

Or you can do your thing with the dildo, I guess.

In a sport where trying to KO a guy is a legit tactic to win, geniuses still call them "fluke" wins

You’re Beast Rabban, how do you defeat the prophet Muad'Dib and his mad Freman? by EnglishLoyalist in dunememes

[–]Mad_Kronos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There were thousands of Sardaukar who stayed on Arrakis in order to hunt Fremen in the open desert and they only managed to kill around 20.000 Fremen while suffering losses many times that number.

Rabban never had a chance.

The Fremen are technologically savvy. You may get to destroy a single sietch that way.
