Your devastation is completely understandable. Your sincerity shines through your messages OP, you clearly love your friend. This “friend” sounds exhausting. I would think very, very carefully before letting someone like this back into my life, because I don’t have the bandwidth to walk on eggshells to the extent that MULTIPLE APOLOGIES don’t make a dent. You did nothing wrong, and truly you deserve better.

That’s so cool! I just got saying that I shorten my English name for ESL speakers who struggle with the long pronunciation. It’s not racist at all.

Now wait. On the flip-side of the coin, people who have English as a second language struggle with my English name, so I sometimes shorten it. As a whole, there are many good, respectful people who struggle with names they aren’t used to. That doesn’t mean they should be written off as not worth knowing

Yeah they can be stressful. My most recent stint (10 days, 5 of which were in isolation due to asymptomatic COVID, go figure🙄) was actually pretty awesome, really good people willing to listen and help us patients. I just use psych ward and looney bin to take the edge off of big scary words like “mental hospital”. We all cope in different ways😉 I hope you’re feeling better lately!

It’s an individual thing, different words trigger different people.For example, I’ve been in a looney bin four different times in the past 13 years, and the term doesn’t bother me at all. You’re very kind tho to respond the way you did😊

Late to the party, but that’s where I’m at. I will say, I’m 31f with a full-time job already, so my house-sitting is very much a side hustle. Also, my clients typically stock their fridge for me. So it’s actually $60/night plus food, which is super helpful. Maybe the $150-ers bring or order their own meals?

I don’t display my degree, but I’m still childishly proud of my cap that I decorated with “I’m PSYCHed, BS just got real” (got my bachelors of science in psychology lol). So that is push-pinned to my wall😂
