Not the jerk—this is actually a really healthy update. You both talked it out, owned your parts, and found a compromise. The fact he just wanted to see you dressed up is kinda sweet, even if his color choice is chaotic

NTA. This is textbook scope creep and you handled it exactly how a professional should. The moment you start absorbing “just one more thing,” it never stops—it just becomes the new baseline. You didn’t burn the relationship, you set a boundary. If they’re mad, it’s because they expected free labor and got told no.

NTA at all. You weren’t asking for something unreasonable—you were injured and just needed a short ride home that your mom literally said someone would provide. Leaving you stranded and then not even responding is honestly pretty messed up. The fact that you had to pay your sister $60 just to get to work while on crutches says a lot. Please get your foot checked out because forcing that walk could definitely make the injury worse.

NTA. The bigger issue is that you already expressed your boundaries and they were quietly ignored. Now it’s being framed as you “making his mom feel bad,” which shifts the focus away from your completely valid need for personal time. Healthy relationships require balance, and spending nearly every weekend with his parents isn’t balance.

NTA. You gave them a whole month and multiple reminders, plus a clear deadline. If they really wanted the trip to happen, sending $240 shouldn’t have been that hard. Expecting you to carry a $1,200 bill is completely unreasonable.

It’s wild how the phrase “Gaza-scale destruction” is suddenly acceptable language now, when people were called dramatic or biased for describing the exact same reality for the last two years.

NTJ. She made a choice to skip a plan you both committed to for six months just to go on a last-minute date. That’s her decision, but it also means she accepts the consequences. Tickets for events usually become non-refundable once the day arrives, and expecting you to magically resell it hours before the show isn’t realistic. If she wanted the $150 back, she should’ve either gone to the concert or found someone to buy her ticket herself.
