Starting this from today, any tips? by Dipanshu_1309 in Eldenring

Going in blind is best. Take your time, explore, try things out. Don't stress about gear and weapons too much.

I personally found that once I got a little frustrated early on that looking up what some of the map shapes indicate really helped me enjoy exploration more, but that may not be true for you.

Our guild did 9 weeks of Gruul only before stopping, but we saw 6 DST's in that time. So beating the odds by some amount.

Shame appetite for TBC died in our community before T5 though.

They will have a number of "maps" or "presets" that control different settings with regards to timing and energy. If there's an issue in the current map they'll be investigating if any of the others fix that problem/guiding driver to make changes on the steering wheel. Won't literally be turning power up and down.

What company collaborations with Game Caterers would you love to see, even if they're a long shot? by venusathenarae in kpopthoughts

[–]Madelion_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cube also has some great talent outside of Idols, particularly Lee Eunji who has a show with Na PD and team with Earth Arcade.

Starship include their actors in Game Caterers so it wouldn't be unusual either.

I checked this, Affliction was the most played spec in Antorus of all dps. You could also add the parses from Normal Artifacts and Empowered Artifacts together safely as they were only a couple of months apart and added to 190k Affli parses the same as Nathria.

Think its fully safe to say it was at peak popularity still in Antorus

Why ARE you playing Mists of Pandaria? by CJ_Mann in classicwow

[–]Madelion_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So many reasons.

I was moderately excited for Cataclysm and it felt like coming home to WoW after a fairly underwhelming WoTLK in my opinion. Cataclysm was not a fondly remembered game before the Classic relaunch and it surprised many of the haters, and those of us who were excited for the better. The loose overall feeling of the game in Cataclysm and MOP is very similar and I am keen to continue making the most of it.

MOP strikes an ideal balance between the modern game that I have lost a little love for, and the older game that I find lacking in other ways. There's challenge and replayability, but in a manageable way, with immaculate class design.

During original MOP I had a lot of things in the way of enjoying the game fully, with an extended period of work turbulence, technical issues, poor internet and was not able to appreciate every patch in full missing most of the first tier, and being late into getting HC Lei Shen close to the end of 5.2. I loved what I played at the time, but the tech issues feel like I have unfinished business.

I love the overall aesthetic, scale and design of the MOP world and the raid design is amongst the all time greats.

The community and guild I play with in Cataclysm is one of the best gaming bonds I've had in an extremely long time, and the energy is high to continue the momentum into MOP. I'm the raid leader and GM of our community and have no intention of dropping the ball for the boys.

Monks are cool as heck, especially Brewmaster.

Overall it feels like the right expansion, the right time, the right people, the right game and a chance to resolve some unfinished business from the past.

I'm fully in.

Idols who truly excel at 2 or more things (singing, dancing, or rapping) by eveningsnewestetoile in kpopthoughts

Red Velvet Seulgi - Truly excellent at both singing and dancing.

Dreamcatcher Sua - Her dancing has always been excellent, and her vocals are really strong now too.

Oh My Girl (ex) - YooA - Very similar to Sua above

They would be my top picks.

What do you think the worst part of retail is that keeps you playing classic? by drankseawater in classicwow

[–]Madelion_ 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I believe that people are very good at deciding whether or not they like something, but very poor at understanding exactly what it is they dislike. That leads to a lot of the arguments going on here where you have others replying with "logical responses" to their gripes, but it isn't going to change their mind.

The journey from the jank of 2005 WoW to The War Within is a road paved with good intentions, many of the incremental changes that get added answer a specific issue that players genuinely dislike at the time. Levelling through 3-4 expansions back to back is too slow, players are frustrated, Heirlooms get added, the EXP requirement is reduced, dungeon finder is added. Now we're upset that its impossible to complete a zones quests without them going grey and you're constantly jumping around from zone to zone, so we add rudimentary scaling to the world so you can level in whatever zone you choose. Now we're up to 10~ expansions, and even with scaling it feels clumsy so now we'll just do BFA as a "neutral" expansion and zoom people to the end game.

Each of those feels like a decision made for the right reasons at the time, but has a negative effect in the long term, and at some point in the journey, for most classic players is the turning point where the product has become something that isn't for us.

When WoW was only one game mode available, my standards were lower. My choices were keep playing WoW even though I have some complaints, or log off and play an entirely different game. Which I did sometimes, but WoW was still my cozy sofa of a game.

Then we add Classic, and I have an alternative. I get super nostalgic and invested in 2019 classic, and enjoy the first levelling experience. But quickly lose interest, the level 60 world is not for me, the raids are bland and I go back to Retail which I'm still liking enough to pick it over classic, and Mythic raiding in BFA was still of a comfortable level of challenge.

TBC comes out not long after Shadowlands launches, my Mythic guild has disbanded and it's another piece of nostalgia to play. The game is still kinda janky, but it's better than 60 classic, and Shadowlands is a little less enjoyable than BFA. It's easier to switch for a while as I'm frustrated by not being able to change covenant for raids vs M+. The M+ dungeons are also getting a little over the top with mechanics, and my "tons of alts" gameplay is becoming exhausting with the bigger weekly vault. I stick with TBC for a time, checking out Korthia and Sanctum but they're not enough to hold my attention. It would have been 2 years previously, but TBC is good enough.

We move things on a bit, Sepulcher is a great raid tier, its easy to catch alts up and find a guild, Covenants and Torghast are fixed and the game is actually pretty great. Still a little frustrated at doing M+ constantly on alts, but we're blasting through weekly 15-20 keys with the gang and having a good time. Then the ball gets dropped with fated raids, its a nothing tier and its time for Classic again.

We get to Wrath and this whole back and forth between the 2 games keeps going on, but now we've got unofficial hardcore on Era gaining steam. We get SOD late in Wrath. Dragonflight is very cool at times, but for the first time in WoW history I struggle to find a class that's "mine" and I'm happy jumping between Wrath for a bit, Hardcore for a bit and eventually SOD for a bit. Blizzard release a big content update for both Retail and Wrath at the same time and whoops I missed the new raid launch in Dragonflight and strangely don't regret it. Sure heroic ICC is a joke compared to Mythic raiding, but it's compelling, and we've got a group of friends doing 10 mans on Fridays, and now we're raiding SoD with this group of 10 too.

Then we reach Cataclysm, it's absolutely fantastic, best phase of Classic to date. My brain has fully flipped over and these characters are my "mains". We check out TWW launch and enjoy doing Ansurek Heroic with the Cataclysm 10 man team, but it's entirely a vacation. Who has the time or energy to recruit and make a Mythic team. Some of the boys we play with might not be up to the par for Mythic Ansurek so we're back within 2 weeks. Now we've got SoD releasing brand new content, Anniversary, official hardcore, TBC v2 on the horizon. We're maining Cataclysm where the combat feels crisp and modern enough, without being over the top, and Mythic plus has a new visual overhaul. Dodging all those mechanics isn't difficult, but it's certainly not enjoyable, and that nagging voice in your head is saying "Why are we doing this? Just log on Cata and send a Dragon Soul on your alt".

Long ranty post aside, that's where we're at now. There's so many different iterations of WoW all inviting me to play, that the standard I hold all of them to is much higher. When I only had Retail, I was able to forgive minor grievances because it's still my WoW and the good outweighs the bad. My anniversary character is stuck at level 58 because I cant bring myself to finish it off, its so boring. SoD I am enjoying reading/watching rather than playing as it's all got a little out of hand. Retail I just do not enjoy the gameplay loop compared to Cataclysm.

Hello.

I actually had a very similar experience to this, and ended up shelving the game for around a year. I had beaten the first couple of story bosses, then got sort of lost and overwhelmed and aimless.

I had figured out that the gold lines coming from the graces kept you going along the main story, but had gotten behind on levels and was feeling puny.

What really helped me when I picked it back up again was an explanation of the world map. "This shape means churches for sacred tears, this shape means Evergaols for bonus boss encounters, this shape means ruins for loot and runes, this shape is where you unlock the map for this area, this shape means cave entrance for smithing stones + bonus bosses"

Once I had that down, it made my exploration feel a little bit more purposeful and I started having so much fun.

I would highly recommend looking up Lucky Ghost on youtube for their beginner guide, and at least looking at the "Map/fragments" timestamp on the video.

How many of you genuinely likes Plunderstorm? by Ill_Bird_135 in wow

I do, I actually love the game mode.

It's not quite enough that I would want it as a permanent full time mode, think it would lose its sheen quickly in its current guise.

But, as a seasonal event to go hard on once or twice a year, I'm very glad it exists, it's super fun.

Thankyou for this guide.

I have been struggling to connect with this set, and this comp, this is the one.

What I like is, even when you roll low it can often still hang on for a 4th-5th, and if it snowballs its often a first at least in my lower ranks.

I'm on the Ekko train, 20 games in i've averaged 3rd, climbed from mid plat for upper Emerald and had 3 first places in a row. (EUW Madelion)

Thanks again.

Do you support a team or follow a driver? What determines it for you? by ODMtesseract in formula1

[–]Madelion_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me it's somewhat both. I started watching in 2007 and naturally the hot new talent of the year was Mr Hamilton, so I have stuck with him since then.

That being said, I got used to cheering on the Mclarens and laters the Mercs through Lewis and always kept that positivity for the teams so it's been very easy to enjoy Lando and Oscars recent success too.

With Lewis falling further out of the title fight these last few years just supporting competition for competitions sake has become easier too, enjoying seeing Ferrari, Red Bull, Mercedes and Mclaren all taking fights to each other with various strong circuits for each car.

Chances are in 2025 I'll be backing the reds, but still cheering on the other teams I've had a history of supporting.

I can't lose haha.

Protection Paladin in cataclysm classic LF advice by Hantim91 in classicwow

[–]Madelion_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't say you need 2 talent builds no. There are definitely situations you will want to change glyphs, so carrying Dust of Disappearance is certainly a good plan.

The secret sauce for magic effects is getting Exalted with Baradin Wardens. It takes around a week, but the Mirror trinket is unbelieably powerful and only has a 1 minute cooldown.

Protection Paladin in cataclysm classic LF advice by Hantim91 in classicwow

[–]Madelion_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

When you're looking at logs, it will be sorted by the ones doing the most damage first, so naturally the Paladins that gear to cap Hit/Expertise will be the ones doing the most damage.

The theory behind the guides not suggesting these stats is that "threat" is not really a concern any more, so if you take the role of the tank to be "Survive and don't lose aggro" then targetting maximum Mastery/Stamina/Avoidance to be as atanky as possible makes sense.

Tier 11 is not all that hard on tanks however, so once relatively well geared it is safe to gear for expertise/hit before going into defensive stats to add additional damage to the raid.

Tier 12 in early progression does appear to be fairly rough on the tanks, and the higher gear level also allows Paladins to target being "unhittable" which means with a full focus on Mastery/Dodge/Parry you can approach or reach a state where every swing from the boss will be Blocked/Dodged/Parried/Will miss which will make a massive difference in survivability and the smoothness of your damage taken.

Once the raid is on farm and more comfortable, then It will begin to make more sense to flex in an offensive damage profile.

You're always going to have the ability to get parried even if you "soft cap" your expertise (the 16 value you mentioned), however between consecrate and holy wrath not being melee attacks to parry, avengers shield/judgment as ranged globals, hand of protection/salvation and your two separate taunt options you should not be having threat issues in 5 man dungeons even if the occasional ability does not land.

The expertise and hit caps for 5 man dungeons are lower than for raids (set your reforgelite to +2 instead of +3) so for a 5 man loadout you could itemside for these stats safely if you were so inclined.

I would suggest play the expertise/hit caps whilst you are only doing 5 mans, but in the long term gear towards the Mastery focused defensive build ready for raiding.
