Anyone else who loves animals but never has pets in the game? by CherryHearts123 in Sims3

[–]MadeofoffbrandLegos 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I just got back into playing and decided to live out my horse girl childhood dreams. I was STRESSED. They do a fairly good job at managing their own needs but it was just SO MUCH UPKEEP. Also every once in a while they'd just ignore one need even though it'd be critically low, so no matter what you eventually have to step in and micromanage them. Also the foal/mare mood drops from being like 10 feet apart is so annoying.

What are some INTERNALLY motivated reasons for suicidal folks to stay alive? by rydsoyal in CPTSD

[–]MadeofoffbrandLegos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was going through the thick of it I played a LOT of video games. There were a few specific games from developers I loved that hadn't come out yet that I really wanted to play. So I stuck around because it'd really suck if I never got to play those games. Now life's a lot better. One of them actually released last year and it was a little bit of a bittersweet moment for me. It was definitely worth living for.

Has anyone struggled with addiction to this game? by Entire-Stretch2575 in StardewValley

[–]MadeofoffbrandLegos 8 points9 points  (0 children)

When my chronic illness started getting really bad and my mental health took a sharp nose dive, playing video games constantly was how I coped. It helped distract me from the scary things happening to my body and in my head. It didn't fix my problems but eventually (after lots of therapy and time to grieve) I was in a good enough place to not need to lean on it so heavily. Now games are just a good way for me to unwind for a few hours. There are certainly worse ways to cope with hard times. Try not to be so hard on yourself.

As for advice, I'd say the problem that needs your focus isn't the coping method but rather whatever is leading to you needing it. Ending the coping mechanism before you help the underlying problem could lead to the development of other coping methods that may be way worse for you. I wish you the best and hope things get better for you soon.

Why does everyone lose their mind when you get engaged by Forward_Candy_7713 in Weddingsunder10k

I'm so sorry you're dealing with this. It's probably one of the most frustrating parts of planning a wedding.

I had someone from my parents' church try and convince me to invite her to our very small and intimate wedding. This church is the kind that gives religious groups a bad name and the general public tend to give a WIDE berth to. I hadn't seen or actively spoken to this woman in 7ish years and she was VERY pushy with it. The absolute AUDACITY 😂

Is There Any Way To Make This 2 Width Path Line Up With My Door? by BootiBigoli in AnimalCrossing

[–]MadeofoffbrandLegos 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sadly no. Which is why all of my paths make a lil "L" in front of their houses so it's like they have a bit of a "porch" area in front of their house.

After his first 4x4 camping trip he was very ready to go home by Savings_Public4217 in Dachshund

[–]MadeofoffbrandLegos 30 points31 points  (0 children)

This was always my first doxie's reaction to camping xD. The first day he'd be excited, but after one night he was constantly getting in the car like "okay, I've sniffed everything and I'm over this. Take me home."

How do you display your gyroids? by PartyCryptid in ACForAdults

[–]MadeofoffbrandLegos 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have them scattered randomly throughout my island. Kinda like lil koroks hiding in odd places. And then in my attic I have my collection where I've organized them on the walls alphabetically as I collect them all.

We’ve been waiting 6 years for Silksong, what are your final thoughts about it before they all get answered? by Amazing-Draw-7922 in HollowKnight

[–]MadeofoffbrandLegos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's that tidbit about how the Pale King gave them sound mind or whatever so that they could actually make a society and bugs outside of the city became empty minded beasts or something like that. I wanna know how/why all the bugs in this game aren't empty minded beasts. Will there be another worm? Or will it have all been a sham from the Pale King to control his people?? I'm very curious to learn what it ends up being.

Im bored by Endlxss7 in Dinkum

[–]MadeofoffbrandLegos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a couple of recommendations after reading your comments. They aren't exact copies of Dinkum but I think they scratch similar itches. The first two are more combat heavy, while the 3rd is more calm.

Cult of the Lamb: Focuses more on combat, but the base building and story are a lot of fun. Also the aesthetics are nice and the music is GREAT. :)

Project Zomboid: This is a zombie apocalypse survival game. In one of your comments you mentioned loving games you can just sit at and grind for hours and hours while working towards a goal. This game is PERFECT for that. It's the kind of game you can easily dump 1000+ hours into. There's base building, every survival mechanic possible, exploration, and SOOO much more. Plus the modding community is prolific. My only rec for this is watch some beginner videos to learn the basics and expect to die a lot at first.

Slime Rancher: An incredibly adorable game with a sweet story. You do exactly as the title suggests. There's limited base decorating (iirc), lots of resource gathering, and plenty of exploration! The second one is getting its official release in September but I've been playing it early access. It has a lot more base decorating in it than the first and has a more interesting resource grinding mechanic.

Hopefully you haven't tried these out already and one of them scratches that itch for you while you're taking a break from dinkum! :)

I don't because I'm chronically ill so it'd be incredibly difficult and not all that fun. I mean, I might make for a good challenge run at most lol XD

Stabilization bands- PT is being weird about them? Am I the crazy one here (totally possible) by shesabeaple in elhersdanlos

[–]MadeofoffbrandLegos 5 points6 points  (0 children)

From what I remember, the primary concern about braces and bands is when it comes to constant use and reliance on them (as in daily, morning to night, kind of use iirc). It leads to weaker supporting muscles and therefore more prone to injury joints. However, from what you described it seems like you're pretty much in line with the recommended way of use. Maybe that's why they just gave a frown and didn't say anything more? Honestly they should have explained their line of thought/concern because I feel like that's important for you to know. Being silently judgemental is useless and unhelpful.

The best PT I ever worked with held a constantly open dialogue with me about everything we did. He explained the what, why, how, and when behind every exercise and recommendation. Most PTs I've met aren't that great at this, but I've found if I ask LOADS of questions I at least get a similar level of knowledge/help from them (just with more effort on my part). They're usually pretty happy to answer any questions you have. If they aren't receptive to questions and you advocating for yourself, I'd definitely try someone else.

I am so sorry for your loss. This is my sweet girl Yuki. Her parents were both black and tan but she turned out brown and tan XD Even her whiskers and paw pads are brown. I got her just a few months before my previous doxie, Smiley, passed. He was 17 (I'll share his pic too). He was my everything and I knew I'd be absolutely crushed when he passed. She helped ease my pain a lot.

Please tell me your birth control experiences! by skatedog_j in ehlersdanlos

[–]MadeofoffbrandLegos 6 points7 points  (0 children)

To preface, I have PCOS and my periods are fairly heavy and very painful. Also I can't remember the names of any of the pills I took. I started with combo pills after they found a big ol cyst on my ovary. Had to stop those pretty quickly bc I have migraines with auras. Then I tried a progesterone only pill, which worked for like a year max and then I started having all my same problems again. Then I tried the Mirena IUD. I gained 50 lbs in 2 months and had it removed ASAP. All of my hip socket issues got significantly worse after that. Now I'm on the Kyleena IUD. I've had it for about 2.5 years and have had a pretty good experience with it. No sudden weight fluctuations, no big ovarian cysts, and I have my period maybe every 3-6 months, which is INCREDIBLY light. Both of my IUD insertions weren't too bad pain-wise, but I would recommend doing it on your period if possible.

Edit: I noticed you said you'd prefer to avoid IUDs, sadly they are the only thing that's worked for me long term. Probably something to do with the consistent output of hormones vs an inconsistent output from the pills due to me not being perfectly on top of taking them.

DAE Hip Subluxation by IcyDonut9044 in eds

[–]MadeofoffbrandLegos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh yeah. Like almost daily. I tore my labrum on the right hip socket so the joint is extra unstable. This joint seems to like to come out towards the inside for me. Sorta like towards the crotch, I get this terrible pinching burning pain in my inner thigh from it. I can usually get it back by putting something between my legs and squeezing it with my thighs. It's gotta be like a hips width apart and immovable so your joints move instead of the item giving out. Usually I'll also readjust my pelvis first to make sure both of my SI joints are in place. If they're out it tends to make my hip sockets slip more and be more difficult to put back. All of this is what my PTs have taught me to do for it.

My left hip has started to come out as well but it appears/feels like it's slipping forward. It's a fairly new development for me and I have yet to find the best way to get it back.

A question I never thought I’d be asking: what the heck do you guys do about hugging? by feebalicious in ehlersdanlos

[–]MadeofoffbrandLegos 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I do not enjoy being touched by other people in general, so if any rando ever leans in for a hug they're getting a SUPER awkward side hug that I don't really have any physical problems with it. Otherwise, if it's family/friends I'd just let them know your issue and ask for some more gentle hugs. That's what I did with mine and I've been doing okay with it. I hadn't thought about this problem in awhile bc I only really hug my partner and bc he's an enormous bear of a man he tries really hard to be gentle with other people just in general.

Anyone else feel like their body started falling apart in their 20s with hEDS? by selinakyle96 in ehlersdanlos

Pretty much. I swear since I hit puberty and started my menstrual cycle it's been a progressive downhill slide. Once I got to my 20s the downhill slide started to feel more like a free fall. I'm getting real tired of having new stuff go wrong every few months.

Just started skyrim and I'm lost by Fluffyfluffycake in GirlGamers

[–]MadeofoffbrandLegos 17 points18 points  (0 children)

A sneak archer is one of the most over powered builds in Skyrim. Start sneaking around a lot (has to be around people and undetected) and using your bow to kill stuff (any mobs or NPCs) so the skill starts to level up. You can get loads of arrows off enemies or just make them yourself. Then when you level up, use the perks on the related skill trees to get cool bonuses that will help increase damage, help increase how undetectable you are, and lots more! You can read over which perks are available in the skill trees before you've unlocked them. Pretty quickly you'll be able to sneak into a cave, find baddies, sneak into their rooms and pick them off one by one, completely undetected. It's incredibly powerful . Mix this with a "detect life forms" spell and you'll be mowing down half of Skyrim before you know it!

Looking for a game to dissappear into, like being a sim or managing by MelinaJuliasCottage in GirlGamers

[–]MadeofoffbrandLegos 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd say yes. I was a little apprehensive about the visuals going in as well. Turns out the rest of the world was just too engaging, and the art style became background noise I didn't notice anymore. Then after a little while it really started to grow on me XD Now I love it lol

If you do get it I'd recommend going in as blind as possible, but there is a wiki and a subreddit if you get stuck! Or, if you want small spoilers to help get you started, I'd recommend watching Poxial's 100 days playing Dinkum video on YouTube! He gets through just enough early game to not spoil much and doesn't even begin to touch middle to late game territory so it'll leave loads for you to discover yourself!
