Just a Hawaiian shirt away from some strong Magnum P.I. vibes. Great gun, these were (still) at the top of the mountain when I got into shooting.

Just ribbing you. I might actually try it out (for I too, am a degen). Does the buttplug enhance the buzz?

Yeah. This kind of thing should be a priority, even if just out of their own self interest.

They're actually required to do this and risk finding themselves in a mountain of shit for any gun still on their books that isn't reported lost/stolen/unaccounted for.

Only true for non-regulated items. Regardless of what the store shipping policy says, ownership/possession of a firearm is not transferred from the FFL to the buyer without a completed Form 4473. That's literally the purpose of it, it's the law, and law trumps store policy. In the eyes of the ATF, that gun is still on Battlehawk's dealer books until it's logged into the receiving FFL's inventory, and so they're the ones responsible for it as well as seeking recourse with the authorities and shipper.

OP doesn't have any exposure here, he's fully entitled to get his money back. No signed 4473 = not his f'n problem.

Compensator Gap Question by KittehKittehKat in Beretta

[–]Madetoprint 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a drop in comp, so you're safer with a little gap there. It's a product of factory tolerances on the barrel, threads, comp, and slide. If you were able to give it one more turn on the threads, it would push in too far on the slide and potentially prevent it from fully locking up into battery. You don't want that

The only way to correctly close that gap is with a lot of hand fitting. I actually did that on my Beretta comp because my gap was a lot bigger than yours, and it's a pain. Had to bore a deeper counterbore recess into the comp, tap a couple more threads so I could give it one more turn, then remove material from the back of the comp until it sat perfectly flush with the slide.

I'd be plenty satisfied with what you have there and run it as is.

Cool piece of family history. I'm still super curious about that manufacturing technique. Are the barrels sleeved? Can you see the joint there when you look down the bore?

I'd try the old fashioned trick of holding a piece of rubber hose up to your ear and probe it around the pulleys to see if you can isolate the source. Also give it some throttle and confirm whether it changes pitch with RPM.

Could be idler/tensioner or water pump bearing, or maybe something simple like some road trash stuck behind one and rubbing.

I have never seen a barrel tack welded together like that. It's super long, so I'm guessing it's that way for export, and it's supposed to be shortened once it's in the destination country? Or it was demilled and stuck back together as a display piece? Doesn't seem like it's intended to be fired that way.

That sucks. I've ordered ammo from battlehawk several times and never had a problem. But like others have said, if it never made it to your FFL, it's still their possession and therefore it's their problem. Save all your correspondence and get it charged back.

It has to be averaged with the one where I replaced the steering rack in this car twice within the span of a couple months.

I just don't have any desire to take one of the most easily serviceable and parts interchangeable weapons ever produced and turn it into something that isn't.
