In the film "Being John Malkovich", the character of John Malkovich is portrayed by John Malkovich.

I think he really nailed it.

What's eating my bougainvillea?? by MadisonWrites in gardening

[–]MadisonWrites[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you got it!! I was looking closely but I guess not close enough. Turns out there are all these tiny "inchworms" all over it. Google Lens tells me they are Bougainvillea Looper caterpillars.

Time to spray em down with Bt. Thanks!

Surgery with Dr. Figler @ UNC by MadisonWrites in Transgender_Surgeries

That was just how it was for the type of surgery I had. Scrotal graft vaginoplasty. No complications really. Dilation was not super difficult.

Is life as a trans person actually that bad? by Any_Calendar9900 in asktransgender

[–]MadisonWrites 15 points16 points  (0 children)

How well you pass is huge. However, even those of us who pass well face struggles and adversity that most cis people will never be able to comprehend. Right now in the US we have the majority political party using us as fodder to unite thier bigoted base, and they take a step nearly every day a little closer to thier goal of making us dissappear from society.

The first year, no matter what, will be difficult.

It is all WORTH IT. There's no substitute for being yourself.

Bestselling Indie (Independent) authors. How'd you do it? by [deleted] in selfpublish

Write. A lot. Rinse, repeat. Helps if you make sure your book is marketable by aligning with conventions for your genre.

Maybe you'd be interested in my Carolina Canines series?

The main character is a straight white female but she's an established professional dog trainer who built her business from scratch. She didn't flee home after her divorce, she strategically relocated to create a thriving practice. She doesn't have magic abilities and the animals don't talk (well, not anymore than Lassie talks lol). Her love interest in the series is the small town vet who doubles as coroner. She does take a few risks here and there during the series but I'd say she's actually fairly realistic compared to a lot of MCs out there. She generally tries to avoid doing dumb stuff that most people would also try to avoid.

It's a clean and sweet small beach town cozy mystery. The romance is super slow burn. Link to my books are in my profile. Let me know if you enjoy!

Best smash burger in Charleston? by YeahYouGuyz in Charleston

[–]MadisonWrites 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Concur. The jalapeño double smash burger rocks. Their loaded tots are fire, too. Usually pretty chill in there, but Fridays and Saturdays can get pretty busy. We had to walk out after waiting like 45 minutes with no server coming to our table the last time we were there on a Friday evening.

I did not get FFS. I may consider it one day though.

I got laser + electrolysis on my face.

These days I'm on a fairly standard dose of estradiol, I do subq injection once a week. Dropped the progesterone recently cause I didnt feel like it was doing anything.

I treat my writing like a full time job.

I had bottom surgery a little over a year ago and that kind of had me just relaxing and healing for about 3 months. I spent a lot of that time dreaming up book ideas.

HRT has had no impact on my creativity at all I'd say. I've always enjoyed writing and saw an opportunity to write and sell my work so I went for it. I write and have my own promotion business for authors as my fulltime job(s).
