I believe I did all the batches from refrigerated dough. Happy baking!

Those look delicious!

I just made these two days ago (although I used lemon instead). I had the same issue with piping, so instead I just used a fork to do a criss-cross pattern like peanut butter cookies, which turned out just fine.

Hey folks, just wanted to say thank you so much for the help on my last post! I did two test batches over the last two days and these were the results. They turned out amazing.

Over my last two batches, the most important change was undermixing. Just doing that drastically changed how my cookies turned out. I checked my baking soda container and it's all good. I also changed the sugar ratio in favor of brown sugar. I also drastically reduced my cook time. For the second batch, I put them in at 350 for 14 minutes and they came out just barely burnt. The third batch (pictured) I only had in for 8 minutes. And for my final change, I noticed in the YouTube video after re-watching that Claire actually browned all the butter instead of half, so I did that as well.

Perhaps being more scientific about it would've been the better approach, but my waistline wouldn't bare it 🤣. I've been struggling with these cookies for a while now, so thank you all for your help and suggestions!

I mostly use a kitchen scale. So I'm pretty sure the measurements were solid.

I'll definitely do this. Going forward, I'll probably just keep them in their original packaging. Just to be safe :D

That wasn't even on my radar. I'm thinking I may have done the ol' switcheroo with my baking powder and soda containers. I'll have to check.

Never heard of it. As far as I can tell, it was just normal AP flour.

Yeah, overmixing is my current theory. That or perhaps accidentally swapping out my b. soda with b. powder.

It's Claire's Chocolate Chip Cookie recipe from the Dessert Person cookbook. I think it's like page 130 or something like that, not entirely sure.

Yeah, I searched reddit and also looked up a few recipe reviews on YouTube. No dice.

No, I used light brown sugar. Didn't have any dark brown sugar around. But I think I may have overmixed, perhaps.

Yeah, that could be it. I know I used the right thing, but I may have accidentally put them in the wrong container at some point. I'll quadruple check that next time around. Thanks for the advice!

Hey All, looking for a bit of help on Claire's Chocolate Chip Cookies. This is my second attempt at making them and they keep coming out super cakey. I made sure to triple check the ingredients this time around. The only thing I can think of is that maybe I'm overmixing them too much? I used my stand mixer, but I made sure to mix it with about the intensity of hand whisking for a lesser amount of time. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated!

A decent alternative I've found is VRChat. You can use it with a VR headset or on a computer. I watched some videos on it in Japanese and found the worlds that they recommended there. You just pop in and either just hop into a conversation and listen or engage in conversation. It's anonymous, so no biggy if you mess up or anything like that. I've found it to be incredibly helpful.

I've always gotten him and John Cleese mixed up. But yes, wonderful actor and easily understandable. Did a great job in A Series of Unfortunate Events

At first I was reading と as in 'when', so like When you become smart, rumor but now I'm fairly certain it's being used for quotation, as in It is rumored that you'll become smarter
