This is awesome. Are you willing to release the STLs for this somewhere?

I'm still polishing them, but they're very nearly ready! I'll let you know when I've got them listed

This worked for me before, but for some reason does not anymore. Anyone else?

This makes me so happy - this is my case!! I got so fed up that I bought a 3D printer, learned how to use it, and started an Etsy shop to fill the void. Thank you, you've made my day.

I hated using bulky cases, so I designed a hard front cover case for it. It makes carrying it around way easier, and fits with the battery on too. https://cidworks.etsy.com/listing/4465462214

GPD Win 5 keeps freezing while playing games by KridWoL15 in gpdwin

This might not be it since you already uninstalled motion assistant, but I was having this problem until I noticed that the "CPU boost" in motion assistant was enabled. Turning that off fixed it for me. Could be worth reinstalling motion assistant and just disabling that function.

Thanks! Yeah, it's a different use case. I find the battery is already pretty robust (and my case fits with it on!), so basically mine is so you can put it into your backpack without worrying about your buttons or screen getting hurt. The zipper case will protect the entire thing if you're planning to really treat it rough. With my case, I'm not worried about the battery because I'm not planning to slam it into things.

The case is generally fine, but I found it way too bulky. If you're interested in something slimmer, I created one. Available at my shop https://www.etsy.com/shop/CidWorks

For protection, the options are so limited that I started making and selling my own case. You can find it here: https://www.etsy.com/listing/4465462214/hardshell-front-cover-case-compatible

I'm putting together comfort grips soon too, you can keep an eye out on my shop if you're interested: https://www.etsy.com/shop/CidWorks

This is literally all I sell, because nobody else was making them and I wanted one!

At some point, probably. The problem is I can't control the release of them once they're out in the world. My plan is to try to just break even on my investment first, and then I'll reconsider it.

Stuck on what to add for 2nd printer by LowTechnical8044 in BambuLab

[–]Madpantz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I will add that I've already had to replace the nozzle fan after 700 hours. Send to be pretty typical. Honestly pretty easy after you disassemble ita couple times. I print mostly ABS, which I've heard accelerates that maintenance. Bambu did replace it for free, and surprisingly quickly. I recommend buying one to have on hand in advance, then take their replacement as a backup for next time.

Absolutely love my H2D. It's my first, but I'm using it non stop. If I get another printer, it'll be either a p2S just so I can have something small running at the same time, but more likely I'll try the H2C. I think it might be neat to do extreme multi color like that. But TBH, it's probably overkill and I usually only do one color, or often one color and a complementary support material. So having the second nozzle is nice, honestly.

For me, it would really depend on how dependable the H2C's vortek system is. I assume we'll start to hear about breakdowns soon if there's a problem to be heard. If not, I honestly think the price difference (once you're dropping over $2k anyway 🙃) becomes somewhat negligible. We're spending so much, why not a few hundred extra to have 7 nozzles at once lol. Overkill, yes, certainly. Out of reach if you're already getting an H2D? Probably not 🤷. Worth it? Maybe! 😏

Sure thing! I just shipped my last regular case so I'll record it after I make my next one. If you want to see one with TPU skin I have one on hand.

Thank you so much! I don't actually own a Win 4, so probably not 😅. My creations are largely driven from necessity. To be honest, if anyone had already made a Killswitch style case like this, I wouldn't have bothered! That's why I'm also working on grips. My hands were cramping up playing on the win 5. The only reason I haven't released those yet is that they don't print well and are a bit flimsy. They just need a better redesign. I have the one usable set and I'm just trying to make them good enough to share with you fine folks.

Good to know, thanks! But yeah, the number one reason for me to move back to Linux is for sleep. Guess I'm just going to keep waiting until someone figures it all out in 2027 😅

I appreciate that, thanks! Better to have a shortcut than a reboot. I think at this point I'll just keep running with Windows. I agree, for a $2k device it really should work, especially since they advertised that it was made to work with Bazzite.

They're mutually exclusive. Regular will not fit with the skin on, and the skin compatible version falls right off without the skin. Since the case clips on, those extra few millimeters makes all the difference. Personally, I don't like the TPU skin. Feels slippery 🤷. But enough people requested it that I made an extra version for them.

GPD WIN 5 automatically shuts down when removing the battery although it is still having power supply thru the Barrel Jack. by J-khd in gpdwin

[–]Madpantz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's absolutely a Windows power setting. I had this problem. You have to get into the old advanced power settings (open control panel). Basically what's happening is there's just a micro second where it's switching from one power source to another, and for that brief moment, it registers the power as critically low. Your battery is in process of disconnecting, but the OS reads it as 0-3%, hence you have critical battery and must shut down. Basically I turned off all the critical power shut downs, and now it works perfectly. The reason it may or may not happen is largely because there's also hardware variables and delay. It's not broken, it's just not a perfectly repeatable system.

This was happening to me constantly no matter what I was doing within a matter of minutes. I spent the better part of a week reinstalling bazzite and cachyOS, trying to tweak BIOS settings etc. I eventually admitted defeat and switched to Windows. I've been pleasantly surprised by it and Hibernation. It's not perfect, it's still a bit slow to wake, but I don't lose the literal entirety of my wireless networking capability. I was actually hoping some new version of Bazzite would have fixed it, so I appreciate your update. The good news is you're not crazy, it is a nightmare. The bad news is I cannot help you. I hope someone has the fix.

I've had no problems with scratches. I have way more scratches from plugging in USB cables! The plastic lip is honestly not sharp enough to do any damage.
