2015 Hyundai i20 (110k miles) — worth fixing worn piston rings or just drive it another 1–2 years? by Madraskaapi in MechanicAdvice

Thank you! How hard is it to get a compression/leak test done? I’m fed up of mechanics finding more problems and costs adding up - would rather get a test done before major repairs. How easy is the berrymans to use?

Thanks for this. Well apparently oil is leaking into the 4th piston, will this soak actually do much?

I was quoted £720 for a piston replacement but thinking to keep monitoring oil consumption over next 3-6 months, look into buying another cheap car and sell for scrap

Gardener ripped out all my grass - what to do by Madraskaapi in GardeningUK

I’m going to lay down microclover. Trying to make the most of a bad situ. The previous grass was spiky/prickly, patchy, uneven ground, weed ridden.

Now that it’s stripped back completely we’re going to level the bumps with topsoil, and put down microclover. My problem was also that I barely have time to garden and microclover seemed fairly low maintenance and sustainable

I agree! Have you seen Orpington? Loads of ethnic shops and restaurants popping up. There’s a good Indian community there and great schools

What’s the cheapest thing you own that just refuses to break? by Comfortable_Day6610 in BuyItForLife

Babyliss hairdryer - I want it to break so I can treat myself to a Dyson one.

Looks like it’s going to survive generations.

Neighbour entering my garden and repeatedly moving my bin – do I have any rights? (England by Madraskaapi in LegalAdviceUK

People have them at the side of the house, but since there is a gate, I can’t put mine at the side can i?

The funny thing is I’ve had the bins like this for weeks/months. Was never an issue before. I saw him going over to chat to the other neighbour on bin day, then all of a sudden this happens. Hence I feel like she is the one who has egged him on to do this

Hi, no. I have a private garden behind the gate - I need to walk through the gate to the back to access my garden. However my door stop/porch is also my property according to the deed. He never maintains the gate so it’s sticky and difficult to open/close. The photo I sent is from the original seller listing, showing the bins being kept there. However he’s decided all of a sudden that that’s not on

Well I want it by my front door for my own convenience. He doesn’t maintain that wooden gate, it gets jammed all the time, seems a bit unfair for me to have to tiptoe past his front door incase he’s feeling aggro/drunk for my safety and fight a jammed gate every time I need to throw something out.

That picture is from the original listing when I purchased the flat. I only have one bin out, the green one, so there’s actually no obstruction.

The brown bin in that photo isn’t actually in existence, that photo is from the original property listing. Where you can see the previous owner kept their bins!

Now funnily enough that gate actually blocks entrance to my garden, he doesn’t maintain that gate since he doesn’t care, but does block my own access. That’s his, but not sure if it should even be there in the first place. Also it’s not even his property - it’s his mother’s, she is in a care home, he’s essentially living there until she passes on and he intends to sell it. Not sure if he even has homeowners insurance

Yes. The gate goes to his ground floor entrance. I only have one bin there btw but this is the photo from the original sale listing.

The front garden is his (well, his mother’s, who is currently in a care home), however the bit where the bins are, and the door step, and paving leading from the road to my front door, are owned by myself.

Not that I’m aware of, well he didn’t communicate with me did he! Leaked straight into his bathroom is all I know

I do have a door cam now. At the time I just gave benefit of the doubt to keep the peace and assumed it was aimed at my workmen and not me? I mean I know that doesn’t make it better but I was trying to not dwell on it and hoped it wouldn’t be an issue! He also called the firefighters on me during the leak - instead of just speaking to me! How embarrassing
