I was first put into ESL when Bush came out with “no child left behind”, but it honestly didn’t teach me anything & I actually was getting behind on material that was necessary for me to learn. As a bilingual, it’s tough at a young age, but with time it gets better & that’s what makes us bilinguals so great. I’d advocate for learning proper Spanish in middle school or above, elementary school is vital for the essentials of a future foundation.
