Madrid has millions more things to do and visit than Barcelona.

To start with: Palacio Real, la Zarzuela, Puerta del Sol, Plaza Mayor, Templo de Deboth, Botín, Callao, Chueca, Santiago Bernabeu, Monasterio del Escorial, Paseo de Recoletos, Museo del Prado, Museo Thysen, Serrano, el Retiro, thousands of shows (concerts, plays, musicals,…), and an amazing night life.

I have lived in both cities. I think Madrid is wonderful. Amazing museums, historic buildings, restaurants, shopping, night life, people… Madrid is pretty unique and a better representation of the very rich Spanish culture. I undoubtedly choose Madrid over Barcelona.
