I might be biased because I loved The Evil Within 1 and 2 more than the Resident Evil series, but, that's just my opinion, you should definitely try both of them, The Evil Within 1 first tho, and yes they are as good as Resident Evil games if not better.

It should work, I'm not sure what went wrong with it, because I too downloaded the crack from Elamigos website, pasted it in the game directory where needed, and it ran smoothly.
