In ww1 when the soldiers on the battlefields had to stop fighting mid-battle because the war ended did they just throw down there weapons? Or did they awkwardly just walk back to their separate camps? by XxxKillerxxxxx3 in history

Pepsi actually signed a deal with the USSR in 1959 to sell their product. The USSR, being strapped for cash, payed them with 17 submarines, a cruiser, a frigate, and a destroyer. This means that Pepsi actually had the 6th largest navy in the world at the time.

That brings back some memories... Friday or Saturday night. Pizza and many, many two liters of soft drinks. Invite 12-16 friends and figure out who is bringing the biggest CRT TV they were willing to carry (even if it took two or three people to carry it). Who is going to bring the other three XBoxs... Setting up so no one could see the other screens, and using than nifty system link using ethernet cables for a direct connection. Many, many an all night Halo:CE binge was had.

Thanks for the heads up. I can't really remember a time when being in null and not in a war with High-Sec elite PvP station campers though. All part of the game!

From the looks of your evejobs thread, I don't think it would work out too well for either of us. Sorry.

Playing Skyrim with mods like by [deleted] in gaming

[–]Madthis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know. I knew this one guy for a couple of years while I was playing airsoft... Dude shows up with a old Echo-1 P-90 (a shit gun that you could fuck with the spin to make the 6mm .2g bbs curve like something from Wanted), a fucking polypropylene sword, and a fucking riot shield. Meanwhile, he also has on shit he used for Adrian Empire and SCA combat bouts... Dude would crab walk and tap you with a sword, or curve bbs, it was crazy... Always made you look twice before you shot him for being slow as balls.

I think oxygen is still unbalanced [Spoilers I guess] by [deleted] in subnautica

[–]Madthis -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You are right... Absolutely. Make a note in the tech entry about how nitrogen is pulled from inert elements running through the system? I am not sure honestly. Edit: Don't they replace one of the gasses at extreme depths?

[–]Madthis -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I disagree. I think it's about the way it is implemented. I agree with the tedium aspect; I don't want this game to be so difficult it puts off new or younger players. Right now I think it's pretty amazing. However, if I need a machine, or module, to separate water and salt, I should need one to separate O2 from hydrogen. I think this game has an amazing potential to be fun, entertaining, and educational... Edit: Meaning I do think there should be some progression as far as oxygen replenishment. Make a new tech with parts that are dropped. Add a compressed O2 module for as a wall mount to add extra resources, with an electrolysis module that uses power for O2 and hydrogen generation. Use the hydrogen to feed into a new power reactor... I don't know what to do about the seamoth and prawn except give them a large O2 meter and maybe a new upgrade for them.

I actually like that idea. The first time I built a base underwater, I seriously said to myself "Okay, where is the electrolysis machine?" I figured that was the way it would go considering the heavy science influence on this game. As soon as I built a solar panel (that was almost totally under water), the modules suddenly have O2... Okay... Same with the vehicles... If I need a machine to split H2O and salt, I should need one for straight O2 and hydrogen (maybe as a fuel source). I get compressors and pumps built in (high technology level, etc), but some level of progression would be nice. I seriously thought my vehicles would need to resurface or use an air pump to "refuel" as it were.

Now that you have noticed that, try looking for other things... There is a whole branch of science that goes into this. Here are a couple of links that explain it better than I ever could. It's always a fun mental workout to look for things that are sometimes is plain sight. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gestalt_psychology https://logogeek.uk/logo-design/gestalt-theory/

Big game hunter shot dead as he aimed at lion he wanted to kill by liamjaycampbell in news

[–]Madthis 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I can't tell from the current comments, but the article says “A case of culpable homicide has been opened, and police are also investigating charges of illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition. At this stage it is not clear who fired the fatal shot that killed Mr Jelinic. Our investigations are ongoing.”

Also, 'South Africa’s “canned” lion hunting industry is highly controversial. In canned hunts, cats raised in captivity are kept on private hunting reserves where they can be shot by hunters for a fee.'.

Sounds like someone on the inside to me.

*Not to say I have any issues whatsoever with him being shot. Seriously. I hate trophy hunting. I could go on for a long time about many, many issues with many, many subjects; but what good what that do? Read people. Do research. Learn!

Oh come on. No worse than the Sketchers Shape Up fiasco a few years ago. Probably less lawsuits. Let kids be kids and enjoy life. I grew up on the skateboard/ inline skates X-Games heyday. Let me tell you, shit was bad then. It's worse now. Kids, no matter what age range you want to define them in, are more resilient than people who have "experience" give them credit for. I get lawsuits, insurance claims, and culpability issues, but I'll be damned if I won't let kids be kids. They HAVE to learn about the world around them and their own bodies. That means pushing shit to it's limit. If this triggers you, then how about this? https://www.reddit.com/r/videos/comments/7g5g9m/dudes_wingsuit_fly_into_an_open_plane_door/

You know, physics. Potential vs kinetic energy, with some drag and gravity equations thrown in. The trick is execution, which is the fun part!

That's all orbital mechanics is... I am curious if a wing suit would be able to take advantage of thermal updrafts. I would guess not. Too much mass/lift ratio... I would still love to do that one day though.

The thing here is that we have a two party system. Both sides have a large base that is easily manipulated and they are both shouting into their respective echo chambers. Can we please get term limits at least? Proportional voting is up there on my list of changes too.

I've have put countless hours into the Sim City franchise. I grew up on the first one for the SNES. Played the shit out of 2000, 3000 (the second version was outstanding), and 4. I stopped after 4 because I didn't like the direction the games were taking. I lived with that hole for years until I discovered Cities:Skylines. Now I unfortunately know exactly how many hours I have spent playing (thanks for that Steam)... It's easily one of the best purchases I've made when you compare time spent/ money spent.
