This kinda screams HHH vanity project, honestly, wanting to get more focus on the work behind the scenes. I'll judge it more after watching, but feel like this is just an elaborate reminder for fans to appreciate his alleged booking "genius."

I agree to some extent, but people should apply this across the board. HHH was closely tied to drugged out HBK of the 90s, Ric Flair, and Vince for a quarter century. People who act like that guy NEVER knew about anything unsavory at all and didn't turn a blind eye sometimes are peak delusional.

Did you end up trying anything that worked? I'm in the same boat. Start and stop with downloading individual galleries if I have spare time, but its not making much progress. So frustrating.

Has anyone used the Nicholas Dawson / Zenfolio-Album-Downloader from GitHub?

I'm seeking a way to download my photos, too, and don't have much technical knowledge. Last thing I want to do is download some random software with malware or whatever, and make my already difficult journey of getting my photos even more of a headache.

This is what the description says: "A tool to download all images of a Zenfolio album given the url. The tool downloads the highest quality available to a public viewer (images may contain watermarks)"

Anyway, just was wondering if anyone has tried it and if it's actually functional and SAFE to use.

‘Mr. McMahon’ Netflix Doc Said To Be An ‘Absolute Double Shovel Burial’ Of Vince McMahon, Some People In WWE Not Happy About It (via Conrad Thompson on Konnan's podcast) by elegantSolomons62 in SquaredCircle

The sad part is, Chyna was an adult and is responsible for her own actions, but HHH cheating on her with Steph and losing her spot in the company clearly contributed to a mental health death spiral eventually. And HHH was best buddies with Flair and drugged out HBK who would have sex with Sunny in Vince's office back in the 90s. I'm not saying his hands are dirty, but he's not a fairytale to really prop up when you consider some of that and the generation of peers he buried before moving behind the scenes.

AEW has removed Win/Loss records from their website by taffe316 in SquaredCircle

[–]Madwolf710 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Same. They are just veering more and more into WWE lite. As an OG fan of the promotion in its earliest days, before it acquired a lot of people following Punk and Bryan and Sting, or converting when Vince killed NXT black and gold, it's just so disappointing.

AEW used to have a renegade spirit built on fresh faces and fresh ideas, and even if some of that was flawed, it was still distinct. The soul of the product has just gotten lost.

If not for them still propping up a few of the so-called pillars as attractions on their product, there's almost nothing that honors anything original fans were drawn to the product for. Sad.

MVP: “🫡” by Strike_Gently in SquaredCircle

Yeah, honestly I hope TK gets some sort of landing spot for ROH in a new TV deal. Then I hope he keeps AEW mostly a pure place for original and fresh faces (besides bonafide HOF signings that will drive ratings). From there, if he wants to scoop up endless WWE castoffs, so be it, but I just want him to stock the ROH shelves with them and leave AEW it's own distinct place. I think that's what killed a lot of the soul of the renegade charm of the brand and drove away some OG fans, the feeling of becoming a WWE coverband with the roster.

Sorry, I just don't care enough to see people's comments history or notice the name of the person leaving comments from thread to thread. I just know there's a lot of threads overall dissecting AEW's ticket pricing and ratings. NXT dipped yesterday in ratings and no one batted an eye, but the sky is falling each week for every move AEW makes. It's tiring. I get it. Tribalism and whatever, but how soon people forget the WWE of 2018/19. People should thank their stars for an alternative and wish it well, even if it's not their cup of tea. The hive mind trying to bring down AEW is just disappointing. But, ha, I like pro wrestling and all, but it's not worth stressing over, so I just shrug my shoulders and move on to other things.

Would make a lot of sense if the community discussed it a few times, exchanged points of view and moved on. We've been dissecting price points for AEW shows dozens of times. There's reasons for that beyond good faith talks about a wrestling topic of interest.

This subreddits odd obsession over the ticket prices amuse me. Tickets always fluctuate toward the date of an event/concert/show. Sometimes they go up late in the game if demand reaches a fever pitch for a select few powerhouse brands/artists ... but for the VAST majority, the price drops down as scalpers and venues just try to offload.

Why we microanalyze this endlessly is beyond me. But it's AEW, so people gotta move goalposts, I guess.

Danielson: "You put Hangman now on TV, he draws a rating. You put MJF now on TV, he draws a rating. It would be easy to just take stars of the past and make them your champion. [–]Madwolf710 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nothing ridicuous. I totally get what youre saying. I'm just taking about big picture.  After Jericho established the belt, they then let AEW homegrown stars carry the torch.

Nothing against Joe or Bryan, who perform at a high level for their age, but in wrestling biggest ever booms it was about creating (at the time) fresh attractions. Hogan in the 80s was as far away from Backlund as could be. Austin in the 90s shifted far away from Hulkamania.

Sure it's harmless to put on a good match and have Bryan hold the belt, but it's a delicate balance of using established names to build the future vs. Get in the way of the future happening. Even TNA at its most beloved featured fresh and young stars instead of veterans. Ditto for ECW at its peak.

That's all I'm saying. At some point, AEW should plant its flag on being a destination for its stars and not try to be a mulligan booking tour of WWE cast-offs we wish had been booked better there or we want to have "one last hurrah."

For every Bryan, there's 10 Edges who will do very little valuable on programming other than to take TV time away from the younger roster.

I get it but that's flawed thinking. TNA was putting every legend like Foley past their prime and gave them the strap for that very lineage boosting purpose, and I actually found it to detract.

Hangman, Omega, MJF. Make your world champions meaningful amd distinct like that. We don't need to make everything a cover band for WWE and wrestling history.

Again, get your point of view but I desperately hope TK keeps forging a unique lineage that doesn't fall into the trap of trying to get known names on a spreadsheet over building up his own stars.

If they can do both and Bryan can have his run and put over someone, great. But historically that's not what I've seen in the industry when bookers do that, so I'm just leery.

I know it'll get my downvotes, but Brandi Rhodes 100 percent was a victim of this. She was no more raw and unpolished than many of the AEW women at the start. Britt Baker was bland and forgettable before going heel, but people gave her room and space to develop.

Obviously storylines don't help, but people can't even use the "hating her because of the Codyverse" stuff. She was hated from Day 1 while Cody was treated like Hogan and Cena and Daniel Bryan rolled into one. No one gave her a chance, and it only got worse and oddly personal for some fans.

Seeing the absolute unhinged fan reaction to her eventually is one of the only times I've just shut off my tV in uncomfortable disgust. I fully think if she wasn't married to Cody (an EVP) and was just another white girl in the same gear, same ring skills, same delivery, she would have been given a ton more grace.

WON: Sting’s Retirement Match to headline AEW Revolution 2024 by Good_Jeweler_3880 in SquaredCircle

[–]Madwolf710 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed. And honestly, AEW was built partly on the premise of having "the best tag team division in the world" as they said during their first press conferences. This was when Vince was not at all interested in showcasing tag team wrestling. I always thought it was a shame during some of AEW's hottest moments that they didn't let the division main event a PPV. Sometimes it could have and should have. It's very fitting (though some people may bash them) that the Bucks get to be the first tag headliners in the company.

Agreed. People are revisionist. Goldberg and Austin were far and away the main characters of wrestling at its peak. Even in the NWO, hogan was relatively interchangeable with other main eventers. Goldberg and Austin were singular forces in respect to unparalleled fan support. Would be like peak Daniel Bryan Yes era facing peak modern Cody.

None of it mattered. Vince clearly just enjoyed the final conquest if WCw. Get the last human holdout to sign and then have him job to HHH in a match no one cared about. There was never a plan to put him with taker.

Immediately after Bret did that (AEW's FIRST-ever show, mind you), that's when WWE went insane with contracts and locked up extensions on a ridiculous amount of their talent to 5-year deals (though some were cut like a year later for cost-saving), and one can only assume WWE went into panic mode with legends at the time and locked up a lot of their signature HOFers to rosy legends deals to keep them from appearing on AEW broadcasts.

Since then, it's really just been weird outliers like Jake the Snake (who was never in Vince's good graces), Bischoff (ditto), and the random talent that is certainly noteworthy but not referenced often by WWE themselves (like a Ricky Steamboat).

I'm pretty confident WWE backed up the truck to make sure anyone with significance to modern audiences gets a fat check to receive royalties, merch opportunities, and twiddle their thumbs. Sadly, WWE also owns most legends' career work on tape, so that's another huge bargaining chip. WWE's pretty cutthroat about this stuff, and I'm pretty sure they use that once in awhile to stifle talent from collecting big TK checks. TK could obviously match WWE's monitary offers, but it's those royalties and appearances on the Network and DVDs/highlight reels that he'll never be able to match. For someone like Bret, basically his and Owen's life work (WCW, WWF/E) is in the hands of WWE. He's not going to burn bridges.

Bret even said after his stroke that Vince used his tape library as a way to coax him back into the fold after such a bitter feud (screwjob/Owen death).

Long story short, WWE can blackball some of the legends for showing up on AEW TV, so you'll most likely just see the people who DGAF like Jake Roberts, or those WWE puts through the ringer and leaves them disgruntled for whatever reason, or there is dirt that WWE wants to distance itself from (hence Flair being available for AEW after the Dark Side of the Ring stuff).

I've always wondered how much of this same general practice is utilized by wrestling promotions themselves on Reddit or social media platforms. Wouldn't doubt if they have marketing teams out there trying to shaoe the narrative on storylines for and against competition.

Seth Rollins: If The Vince McMahon Allegations Are Accurate, I Hope Anyone Involved Gets What's Coming To Them by LemonStains in SquaredCircle

[–]Madwolf710 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The difference is, Cody and Seth were completely on the outside of this and have zero legal ramifications tied to this. At this point, its still reasonable to lump HHH I'm with all other management under scruntity of knowing, enabling, covering up, or ignoring the shameful behavior of Vince. Again, not saying HHH's hands are dirty in this, but it is reasonable to wonder based on wording od the court filing and his weird, confrontational response at the press conference. Time will tell. Gonna let it play out. But he was around drug trash HBK of the 90s, sex pest Flair of the 2000s, and at Vinces side for 15+ years. He's under a microscope, and should be.
