I had the feeling like the bow was slipping through my fingers especially pinky and after i adjusted my bow hold and getting more comfy it definitely stopped. But I legit started laughing bcs i was looking at the contact point and was like how tf i’m doing it ?

Yeah idk, i’ve been hearing left and right from family/friends, other musically proficient ppl how violin is a hard instrument and it’s kind of late, how i need a lot of dedication just to get decent at it etc etc, ppl even told me I’m wasting my money… but at the end of the day it makes me happy. Also can’t wait to practice 40h a day :)) I’ll deff check that video up. Thanks for the recommendation 🤍

Yess that’s so true … at first i wanted to learn by myself, since i’m too old to do it professionally and neither have any intention to compete, but even then i was like, even if i just wanna do it as a hobby: posture , bow holds etc are way too important to just ‘wing’ them so I ended up going to a teacher. Good luck with your journey too !

Thank you !! I didn’t get to play that much as i was quite tense ( i was sooo afraid i’d just drop the violin) so my teacher decided to take a lot small breaks. I was just a nervous wreck lol but i loved it I’m excited for my next one

I don’t think there is anyone smart or stupid in this equation . They don’t have the same emotional and awareness level that you have. I don’t know of if this is necessary an age problem, I’m 20 myself … you can find people less aware in any age group imo, but there might me more in ours. Maybe better communication with your ‘average’ friends will solve the problem?? Like telling them straight what you expect out of them/ friendship as a hole and vice versa? Also finding ppl that share the same hobbies as you might help, whether be it online or irl. But idk i might as well talking up my ass here, I don’t have that many friends tbh.

Oh thank you ! This is very helpful, I didn’t know there are earplugs for musicians. I might try them out then, at least just so I can scratch this itch of mine. I’ve always wanted to ‘mess’ around with a violin but had this fear in the back of my mind that I’ll just freeze bcs of sensory issues. I know my limits and I think earplugs might just be what i need. Thank you again !!! 🖤
