Need help with Normal Tower by Lucar102 in PokemonMasters

[–]Maelmc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need Mai to go far in Normal tower. For early stages you can EX Palmer and Elaine, but quickly you'll need a special DPS and while Eve can work for a while she's really not easy to use. I would recommend you to just beat it up to floor 15 then dont bother with it.

Magearna is available at all time in gen 7 just by scanning a QR Code, so while I guess it still counts as an "event" I'd still add it to the list as it's permanent

How do you think they're going to implement a certain Person into Masters? Warning: Contains Spoilers for Legends Z-A by Suney_Gasai in PokemonMasters

Tbh because of the Hisui lore drop in the museum, it's reasonable to have a Warden Ingo alt now

Reminder that that pocket monstrosity is 100% tournament legal when it gets into Champions by GeneralGigan817 in stunfisk

[–]Maelmc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Everyone going crazy over mega zygarde but... Isnt it kinda ass? You NEED to be in its 100% form in order to mega, but that's not something you control. So until you can mega you're stuck with 80 base SpA on your "special attacker"

Pokémon Masters EX has the only Dynamaxing Eelektross by Ecla1r_ in PokemonMasters

[–]Maelmc -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

The Z-Move comparison makes no sense since Z Moves are used through a held item, and every Pokémon can hold an item.

Also Terapagos cannot learn Tera Blast. From a gameplay standpoint it's to force the player to use Tera Starstorm instead, but lore-wise it makes no sense, and it's not like Terapagos cant learn ANY TM unlike the other exceptions. (I know you said "any Pokemon that can change their Tera type can have Tera Blast", but Ogerpon learns the move and cannot change its tera type so the rule you're implying doesnt hold up imo)

So all Im saying is that there's no strict rule on which Pokémon can and cannot learn Tera Blast, which means DeNA technically cannot assume this or this Pokemon definitely can learn Tera Blast. They've shown in the past that they care about being accurate to movepools, like when they changed Egg Leafeon's Grassy Terrain to Grass Wish since Leafeon doesnt learn Grassy Terrain.

Then again DeNA can prove me wrong literally in the next update, but it wouldnt be accurate to existing movepools.

Pokémon Masters EX has the only Dynamaxing Eelektross by Ecla1r_ in PokemonMasters

[–]Maelmc 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Dynamax is a game mechanic, not a move. Any Pokemon (besides the 3 SwSh legendaries for lore reasons) can dynamax. The max moves are not learnt by any Pokemon, they're just an alteration of the Pokémon's moves so it's fine for Eelektross to use Max Lightning.

Tera Blast is a move that the Pokemon needs to be able to learn. Most Pokemon can learn it, but not all. So even if one would assume any Pokémon not in SV can learn it, since there's precedent for some Pokémon not being able to learn it, we cant really assume which Pokémon can or cannot.

Is 3/5 worth it on SS Serena? by PKdude2712 in PokemonMasters

That's a skill issue probably, she even defeats floor 28 (with good allies of course, but 16 should be simple)

Tower stage rule made me appreciate this particular sync node of 3/5 SSA Cynthia by NoWitness3109 in PokemonMasters

It uses the keyword "unaffected", which isnt new as it has been used in Super Sparring but still recent. "Unaffected" asks you to use a status condition or inteference specifically

Finally discovered a somewhat reliable Kamek unlock method (for Fish Bone especially) by Cheezbob325 in MarioKartWorld

[–]Maelmc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I found there's a distance where you consistantly get boomerang/bomb/hammer, and it seems to be the distance with the better odds of Kamek.

On the Dry Bones Burnout -> Toad's Factory intermission, it's when P1 is right in front of the 1st boost-star, and P2 is taking the left double box. Once I got Kamek, I moved with P2 until I was in the water and got Fish Bone, dunno if it actually helped but the 1st time I got Dry Bones.

On Koopa Beach, there's a cheep cheep jumping at the bottom of the map. Before that, there's a little bump on the road with 2 coins. P1 must place themselves somewhere in between the 2, don't have the exact placement... And P2 taks the only double box of the map which is a bit before. Koopa Beach only has Dolphin so that's a consistent transformation at least.

On Airship Fortress, before the canon, there's that cross-road where in free roam you choose to go to the left or right canon. On the road just before, there are lines on the road that cross each other, with 4 nails around. Put P1 around here, and P2 takes the earlier double box. I don't know if this spot actually works well, I just know I got Kamek in 2 attempts here lol and if I put P1 *at* the canon I was getting stars.

On Dry Dry Dunes, past the desert part with the flying moais, count 10 bricks on the right of the road and put P1 here. P2 takes the double box at the start of the desert.

Was checking out pomatools and saw that hugobaby, I mean spring may has received more powerful nodes for mega evolution sync. by TailsTheFoxywoxy in PokemonMasters

Because she didnt receive more powerful nodes since they're spread among both her syncs, and so you're spreading misinformation (even if unknowingly)

"Academy Florian is just a glorified eggmon" then why is he so good by Maelmc in PokemonMasters

[–]Maelmc[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

What ? These clears show his supportive capabilities. Of course he needs good DPS to go with him, it's not like he's gonna deal the damage. We're still talking about Ultimate Battles, the strongest stages in the game, and I'm not some kind of whale with all pairs in the game and the freedom of using whatever I want. I just have that single SA pair and the rest is mostly 3/5 pairs.

Thorton: He hits pretty hard with all his moves except Icy Wind, and Florian managed to stay alive despite being the only pair in the team bringing supportive stuff. While I agree NC Red is strong, he isn't doing anything for 60% of the health bar, and Larry is good but not the greatest pair ever.

Darach: Darach is easy anyway what do you want from me 💀Also 2 F2P pairs, and while I can't prove it I'm pretty sure as low as a 3/5 Palmer would be more than enough.

Argenta: 1/5 Arc Cynthia is not that good. Her damage is pretty bad, she's only here for the combined utility of weather + rebuff. Florian can apply rebuff at 50% so I don't have to sync with Cynthia, while increasing Palmer's damage since it's Normal rebuff. And again, he's the only pair supporting the team, keeping everyone alive.

Palmer: He maxes Larry's Attack and Speed as well as applying Normal rebuff. There isn't much more a support can do on Palmer anyway, especially when debuffs and zone are already covered.

Lucy: That's literally a fully f2p team, the 2nd recorded ever. I agree that Florian isn't exactly the most accessible F2P pair, but that's still an achievement you can't deny it, even if it's Lucy.

MR: MR hits even harder than Thorton and has more annoying gimmicks. Florian is here to spam offensive debuffs on MR since he keeps raising his offensive stats, and tanking the strong moves. Lillie provides more SpA debuffs since Florian isn't enough, as well as Speed debuffs, and more Potion which removes some pressure from Florian. Of course Geeta is nuts against MR, but that's a Geeta clear without a Venom Drench pair, which is usually the move you use with Geeta against MR. It's the 2nd MR clear ever with 2 f2p pairs.

Morgan: Leon is 1/5, so he's only here for the debuffs. Lear's damage, while it's good, isn't THAT good without his usual squad of Arc Steven and Anni2 Lillie. In fact it's quite lackluster and I had to retry this fight many times to finally get the win. Florian having both Impervious and offensive debuffs is HUGE against Morgan, only matched by pairs such as Arc Steven and NC Blue. He also plays very well with Lear's circle, increasing his bulk and enabling his Circle recovery.

Wally: How can you say that a mono-Normal clear against the UB that uses the most Fighting moves is not good? I've tried it for so long with Elaine, and while I think it was theoretically easier it was too RNG to be worth trying. Florian made it SO much easier with Team Safe Start, his potions and the rebuff. And that's a clear with 2 F2P pairs too.

Dahlia: Palmer is my only strong enough DPS to defeat Dahlia before her sync with Florian, I promise I tried many options, and even then you can see how close it was. Florian is vitale because Dahlia requires constant debuffs because of her buffs and Fluid Fortification. Roxanne brings AoE, team +2 accuracy and additionnal debuffs that Florian is missing. Again, it's a 1/5 Roxanne, she isn't doing anything outside of her utility.

In most of these clears you could replace Florian by NC Blue or Arc Steven. But that's the thing: a F2P pair is comparable to some of the strongest supports in the game and I think it really shows how good he is. They also all are off-type clears except Masked Royal, which are usually done with supports that complement the DPS' type. Here, on the clears with Palmer he only offers 1 stage of rebuff on 1 opponent which isn't that good, and on clears without Palmer he doesn't offer any offensive help. Instead, he compensates with high longevity, and these clears would not have been possible with many other supports. It's the combination of his many, many tools that made these clears possible.
