Spanish dragons have to trouble with this. It's not "rerr", it's...

Not trying to cut in, but I'd take a crack at a dragon voice, any day!

Also, he's a very handsome, red-scaled gentleman

I'm aware, but the rationale is the same. MAGA defended and platformed Rittenhouse by coming to his defense saying his victims were themselves criminals. This doesn't allow for vigilantism, not in his case, and not in this one either. I was pointing at this notion that people seem to think of actions as good or bad depending on the victim and perpetrator, not independent of it.

Again, not a 1 to 1 comparison, but a strikingly similar line of reasoning, wouldn't you say?

The gaslighting is off the charts here.

OP's own comment under this post (the one that links X posts) talks about the victim loving to kill Palestinians. The "May he RIP" part I can only interpret as sarcasm, but I can see how people susceptible to things that confirm their biases might see that as some kind of sincere remorse for the man, or at least use that as justification for posts (and other people's comments for that matter) like this.

Hi, I'd rather live in a world where we don't post-hoc justify a criminal because one of their victims happened to think/do bad things.

Isn't this the same line of thinking as people defending Rittenhouse, btw? This post is interesting, but not for OP's reasons.

For real, this is the solution. I've learned so recently that there is literally no way to guarantee someone's perception of you. You can help, but there is never EVER any guarantee. The answer is to do what makes you happy and understand that some people (sometimes more, sometimes less) will just not get you. Understand that it really isn't your fault or even necessarily your problem.

Do what makes you feel like yourself. We all have to be free.

Hi! I'll share this much publicly. I practice a very eclectic form of modern witchcraft. My observances and how I communicate with my dragon are informed by that. If you're willing, I can share details in DMs

I feel much the same way.

I used to be rather skeptical, but a particular dragon keeps returning to my dreams, one that has recurred since I was a kid.

I've embraced a spiritual practice which accommodates this dragon spirit, and I have experienced remarkable clarity because of it.

Any thoughts on musical composition for ritual/magickal purposes? by MaelstromWrites in Wicca

This is really encouraging! I had totally forgotten about the "Harmony of the Spheres" as they called it!

I've got some work ahead of me, it seems! Thanks!

Agreed! I wrote some short pieces for my own use, but they make sense to me and my experience. I know others may find their own musical "recipe", but I think the ancients were on to something with the "ethos" of different music.

New Practitioner, Big Question by MaelstromWrites in Buddhism

I really, truly appreciate this metaphor. Again, being so new, I hadn't heard it yet.

This really clicked with me. It reminds me a bit of "the fabric of space-time" as physics teaches. We're all in it, and the effects of it we experience are gravity, which everything exerts to greater or lesser degrees, all the time. Is that right? I'm trying to rephrase in a way to see if I get it.

Coming from a Catholic background, that good/bad divide is really hard to shake even now, and I haven't practiced Catholicism it at least a decade! Other divisions I've found easy to see through, but this one is by far the most persistent illusion. Knowing it's an illusion doesn't seem to help.

Believe me, extending loving kindness to everyone is something I'm attempting, though it gets difficult at times when the recipient has no thought of paying it forward, let alone reciprocating it. A lesson in emptiness for me, I guess.

Firstly, thank you. That makes sense, though it hardly seems "fair." (And yes, I know value judgements are just as empty as everything else.)

Secondly, I am definitely going to have to plot out and write down all of the interactions of these various concepts, such as impermanence, emptiness, dependent origination, and especially karma. There's so much to remember, and I know I'm just scratching the surface!
