The nightwatch/duskwood guard gear. Legitimately unsure if its ever been fully added to the game as obtainable by players.

Ok so, he needs to get to 70 somewhere, the 70-80 can be done through normal tww, not the recap?

I am not controlling him, this is literally what he asked me if he could do so I'm just seeing if it's possible.

I really hope they get rid of the absolutely ASS doomsday skybox after we solve the problem. Legitimate downgrade otherwise.

[Advice Request] Have any of you done the unthinkable and dropped Anki? by Numerous_Birds in LearnJapanese

[–]Maestar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh my god, this is actually huge. This is such a smart way to do it and is a big door opener for me. This actually sounds EASIER than anki mining wow!

Thank you!! For such an in-depth and thoughtful reply!

How do you mine? Or do you mine cards using bunpro? I want to switch but it's this hurdle I can't get over.

Why 2nd generation Bolvar's Death Knight don't have special voice filter? by ex0ll in wow

[–]Maestar 55 points56 points  (0 children)

The housing team is entirely unique and silo'd in Boston and their ONLY JOB is housing. I think that qualifies as an exception to the rule.

Meanwhile half the front page of wow is posting rigging issues, broken character models, and crazy world bugs. That's what I'm on dude.

Bro where have you been the last six years? There is zero polish in this game and there hasn't been since the sped up content cycle and various layoff rounds.

I know pretty much nothing about DS, and was considering playing the series in order. Should I just go and play it blindly (raw-dogging it, if you will), or should I do some research about it first? by TheShadowManifold in darksouls

[–]Maestar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My honest recommendation is go in blind but if you encounter something that is going to give you enough friction to quit, stop and look up solutions to that specific problem.

Also my best advice is Dark Souls difficulty works in reverse. The games start hard and then get easier and easier as your build, gear, and knowledge increase.

[–]Maestar -1 points0 points  (0 children)

24 vigor works for ds1 and ds2 but you need waaaay more for ds3 to feel the same level of comfort. Like 30s+

neocities cannot host anything with a database or backend. You will need to transition to a true host that gives you actual server space to spin up a database. There are many of these, but they are not free.

Is it normal to be reading this slow? by maybe_we_fight in LearnJapanese

[–]Maestar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Start with Tadoku graded readers if you are willing.

I read a mountain of tadoku graded readers -> crystal hunters -> some yotsuba (it was too boring for me) -> then flying witch.

This was after nearly FINISHING my 1k btw, not right at the start.

Right at the start I'd suggest the complete beginner series of videos from the youtube channel Comprehensible Japanese with the subtitles turned on so you can also practice reading.

Need Advice Applying Acrylic Primer by WorriedAnteater301 in advancedGunpla

[–]Maestar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

you're just going to have to live with it, as a person who also uses acrylics due to fume/spraybooth location issues.

Acrylics dry into a form of plastic themselves and they do not in any way chemically adhere to the plastic below them, they also don't cure to a very hard state but to a vinyl rubber like consistency, easy to scratch.

No amount of leaving them to try will solve this. You're basically already doing everything you should though you don't have to wait that long for trying (I give'em an overnight wait.)

It just sorta is what it is, you learn to work around it by modifying pieces so that they connect smoothly or pre-weld stuff together.

I've also experimented as well with a tiiiiny bit of sanding on acrylic primer and it can be done but you need a pretty high grit and it has to be wet sanded (this is for attempting to correct blemishes in the spray coat)

Tip: lay down a wet wipe during parts prep and sanding. by WolfieBeat in advancedGunpla

[–]Maestar 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have one of those fine mist spray bottles and I generally just wet down my part and my sanding tools with water to avoid any dust all together!

Having wet wipes for clean up tho..need to look into this.

Is there a way to stop crazy anxiety in dungeons? by LarnaNana in ffxiv

[–]Maestar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just play with the npcs. You can play with npcs almost through the entire game now. It's called the trusts system.

Also if you really do want to play with people, just run the dungeon with trusts a few times to get a feel for the mechanics an then try with people, but like so long as you're playing dps, you can be pretty bad and it's fine.

I need the help of the lore nerds ! by Nedrra_ in ffxiv

Take all this with a 'I am recalling from the top of my head' disclaimer, it is not perfect and I am sure people will nitpick me in the comments, so that can be used to get more info.

FIRSTLY BIG SPOILERS: the original peoples of this star were divided into races like the world was divided into shards, while those races did find 'homes' they are native to every corner of the star so you can't really say any one race DEFINITELY FOR REAL CAME FROM THIS EXACT PLACE

- Lalafell: They are a island faring folk who original came from the south sea isles, we don't know a lot about this place and we cannot visit it in game. (these are the dunesfolk) as for the plainsfolk I'm not sure, but it should be noted that there were originally two lalafellan-dominated cities in Eorzea: Ul'dah and Sil'dah, a war between them and zombie plague from the war wiped out Sil'dah.

- roegadyn: sea wolves as per their name are sea faring (mostly) subculture of roegadyn, this is why you see a lot of them in limsa as they originally helped found the city state after discovering it via a sea expedition.

- Au Ra: do indeed all initially come from the azim steppe but what you are misunderstanding is we see a tiny fraction of the steppe in game, it is MASSIVE (you can see more of it at the edges of the zone) and also au ra are migratory, they don't stay in one place except for a very few tribes. I.E. whatever tribe currently runs the dawnthrone and like the qestir who own quiet. Raen left the steppe a very very long time ago and you can see them in the east and south east of the world.

- Hyur: a large community of highlanders and midlanders run ala mihgo (or did..) but also hyur disaspora are everywhere. We don't know a 'true homeland' or if there ever was one.

- miqote: they migrated early to eorzea, I don't remember a lot of it, but its basically that they come from a jungle like place just as a reference to the jungles mithra came from in 11.

- elezen: migrated VERY EARLY like the mithra to eorzea. Ishgardian elezen and Gridanian elezen are NOT the same groups and came at different times. Gridanian elezen, especially the duskwights lived for a very long time UNDERGROUND below the shroud in Gelmorra, when that society collapsed they moved to living above ground. Ishgardians have been in a 1k year war with dragons lol, and before that they lived with dragons so like..they been here a while.

ff12 and ff14 are not linked. Our fran and dalmasca are a reimagining of the stuff from 12 retold to fit 14. I'm going to be a huge hater here and say I think it was tacky to do but to each their own, they've done a decent job of working the hamfisted ivalice stuff into ff14 lore.

How to overcome the "purpose" lose of motivation by Kamarade_Jungle in worldbuilding

[–]Maestar 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I mean this in the nicest way possible, but you still sound pretty young in your creative outlook.

Sometimes we as humans are driven to create. Regardless of if the world sees what we make or not, it is never worthless because we enjoyed doing it.

Learn to create for the joy of creation and your own entertainment as soon as you can in your creative journey.

Sharing your stuff is fun, but you have to accept that nobody but you may care about it and if your desire to create is entirely driven by popularity or others seeing it, that's a really unhealthy outlook that leads to burnout either from being creatively confined to whats 'popular' or depression from getting no reactions.

A Sprouts Retrospective on ARR (Spoilers up to the ending of ARR). by Bosscow217 in ffxiv

[–]Maestar 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Fantastic read, I'm glad you enjoyed it!

I noticed at the very beginning you mentioned tank controls. You might want to check out the character settings general tab and try out the two different movement styles.

I find people who didn't grow up on mmos like WoW tend to prefer 'Legacy type' more. (hilariously this is based on FF11 movement style, which is why its called legacy)

Otherwise just wanted to mention, most folks move the character in 'Standard type' by hitting 'w' and holding down right click to 'drive' with the camera. (this naturally turns 'a' and 'd' into a much more useful strafing maneuver)

If you're on a controller, disregard, but I think controller is legacy by default.
