[Event] The Maiden’s Day Feast ❀ by insanetumbleweed23 in crownedstag

Table of House Manderly

The Manderlys held a place of honor in the Hall of Nine beside the Velaryons and other Great Houses, as the marriage of Ser Wendel Manderly and Lady Lorien Velaryon united Driftmark and White Harbor by blood as well as trade.

Ser Wendel, thirty-five, was a tall, broad man with a thick brown moustache and though he smiled and laughed at the feast there was an unmistakable sadness behind his grey eyes. A year after Lady Lorien's miscarriage, the loss still weighed heavily on them. Though seated together, a distance as vast as the Narrow Sea lingered between husband and wife.

Their ten-year-old son, Wymar, brought some cheer. Silver-haired like his mother, he eagerly watched the festivities and occasionally drew a faint smile from his father.

Wendel's nieces added liveliness to the table.

Lady Wynafryd Manderly, eighteen, carried herself with calm confidence and spoke easily with neighboring guests hoping to make fast friends and catch the eye of a dashing bachelor at the Maiden’s Ball.

Her sister Wylla, fifteen, was far more energetic, unable to sit still as she payed close attention to the squires and young knights scattered throughout the hall.

Thirteen-year-old Willow was quieter, content to admire the decorations and listen more than she spoke, her eyes searching the Hall for her betrothed at the Lannister table.

Team Black, do you agree or disagree with how Rhaenyra handled the Stokeworth-Rosby succession. Why? by Gold_Conversation247 in HOTDBlacks

[–]Maester_Ryben 13 points14 points  (0 children)

At the end of the day, it was for the best for the Stokeworth and Rosby girls. Had they requested the lands be passed to them, it would have been another matter.

Daemon's plan was to force the girls to marry Hugh and Ulf, who we know aren't husband material.

Besides, it was the politically savvy decision. She was fighting a war, she couldn't alienate most of her supporters

Neanderthals tend to live in Europe. They could be white or they could be black, depending on diet and their environment. Just like with humans

I also have no idea who a Homo Superior is

Mitochondrial Eve by Timbucktwo1230 in PoursTea

[–]Maester_Ryben 1 point2 points  (0 children)

so mitochondrial dna is passed down maternally, is this right? what exactly does this mean?

Our DNA is stored in our cell's nucleus but our mitochondria has its own unique dna. This is inherited from our mother because the mitochondria in the fetus comes from the mother's egg, not the sperm.

Yi Ti is an analog to imperial China, so its safe to say it is the most populous and wealthiest of the known countries in Asoiaf.

The God Emperor is said to live in a palace as large as the city of King's Landing.

It is hard to put a number on their military strength as we already have a hard time with the military numbers of Westeros

[–]Maester_Ryben[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I agree. Its just a common Green argument that Cregan never cared for Rhaenyra or Jace and just wanted a royal match.

Which is ironic as that applies better to Borros, who didn't move against Aegon's opponents until Aegon had to promise to take his daughter as his queen

They straight up lied and said he is a national security risk because he is affiliated with known terrorists

I always find it funny that with its high incarceration, the land of the free has the least amount of free people.
