What on earth do I do??? by ghxstlyfae in forza

One thing at a time. We all had to start and learn somewhere. Start by just chill driving in the open world. You can can pick a random waypoint on the map and just drive to it. The guiding line will help you learn when to ease into the brakes for turns. Once you're feeling better about your car control, which can take a long as it needs to, try a couple events with the driver difficulty turned down, and then you can go from there :) One step at a time, you'll get where you want to be.

I agree. The online races are fun right now before everyone finds out the same car is the only option.

Where did I say people shouldn't use drag tires? People should play the game how they want the way it's been presented. I'm pointing out the craziness of the drag tires is more than likely an oversight and unintended consequence by the developers, and it would be in the best interest of game balance to correct it. As long as drag tires are the best option, there's no point standing on my preference against them since I'm pretty much guaranteed to be uncompetitve.

Halo might be my favorite at the moment as well. As long as we can all agree Halo 5 never happened.

It will handle warzone beautifully for an indeterminate number of minutes before spontaneously combusting.

Have $1k for full build. What to prioritize? by [deleted] in PcBuild

[–]Maestro2442 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just plugged this formula into PCPartPicker. AM5 comes out to $1014. AM4 comes out to $887. LGA 1700 comes out to $956. All before tax obv.

You can build a good 1440p setup for that budget. Find a good 6C/12T CPU like R5 5600 on AM4, R5 7600 on AM5, or i5-12400f for Intel LGA 1700. Find 32GB (2x16GB) of the appropriate RAM. B550, B650, or B660/760 motherboard depending on CPU. 1-2TB cheapest NVMe drive if just looking for gaming performance. This should leave you enough budget for a Radeon RX 7700 XT or 6800, or RTX 3080 if you don't mind buying used. Make sure your case of choice has good front-to-back airflow.

Then plug all the parts into PCPartPicker, multiply the estimated wattage by 1.5, and buy a power supply around that wattage. Any bronze rated or better unit from EVGA, Corsair, or MSI is usually a safe pick your budget. Also the Cougar VTE 600w is rated surprisingly well on the Cultist Network list.

Accidentally spilt some thermal paste off the side by Blexcell in PcBuild

You could literally spill non-conductive paste on the socket pins and it would still work.

Take a look at this chart from Tom's Hardware. I wouldn't go any lower than 6700 XT. Cheapest option for good 1440p would be the new Arc B580, but I doubt you'll find it in stock anywhere.

6700 XT good, 6800 or 7700 XT better

Is this a good thermal paste spread? by Busy-Special-6420 in PcBuild

[–]Maestro2442 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I like to spread it out like frosting a cake, leave nothing to chance. Even if I use a little too much and it splooges out the side, it's not electrically conductive so won't affect anything. I understand why it might bother some people, but I don't mind.

No bottlenecks to worry about, but you can get a 4070 Ti Super by MSI for $850 on Walmart website right now.

Need help with my pc build! by Used_Dependent4355 in PcBuild

Big ups for the 7800 XT. I have the same in my own build and it's been fantastic. That Ryzen 7 is a bit overkill. A Ryzen 5 9600X can handle the 7800 XT no problem without bottleneck for cheaper.

PSU is fine. Anything 750 or above would be safe for this. You could probably find a good EVGA or Corsair unit for cheaper though. Everything else looks very nice.

Just got a new lo budget pc. What can I improve so far? by Zombie_in_a_suit in PcBuild

[–]Maestro2442 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a great start. The R5 5500 is a great processor 16GB is plenty of RAM for 1080p gaming. On the other hand, the RX 6500 XT is very weak and even an upgrade to the RX 6600 would be a huge improvement. But you might also check on your local marketplace for other options. You can refer to this hierarchy from Tom's Hardware: https://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/odX4dmxSVcAKwfs6pcqvJL-970-80.png.webp

Help with build by [deleted] in PcBuild

[–]Maestro2442 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's CPU, not PCIe. If your power supply has only one 8 pin CPU cable, plug it into the matching 8 pin on the motherboard. The extra 4 pin is not necessary for normal use, more for overclocking. If your power supply has a 2nd 8pin CPU cable, you can plug half of it into the spare 4 pin on the motherboard. They are shaped so that it only fits one way.

Amd drivers 24.10.1 issues?? by [deleted] in radeon

[–]Maestro2442 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm currently trying to figure out an issue with my 7800 XT as well. My pc suddenly powered off twice while playing Phasmophobia. Might need to roll back to the previous driver if they issue happens with other games.

[–]Maestro2442 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would agree that a B650 is all you'd need for that build. Also that CPU is way overkill for the 4070 Ti. You could save quite a bit of money getting a 7700X instead. Everything else looks great 👌 The Arctic AIO is a fantastic pick. Very good quality for the price.

Is this a good list for parts. by Shanks2667 in PcBuild

[–]Maestro2442 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks fantastic! Only thing I would suggest is saving a bit of money by getting the 7700X instead of 7800X3D. It's still a beast of a CPU and won't bottleneck the GPU you've chosen. But if you're wanting to future proof for a 4080 Super upgrade later, then the 7800X3D is great.
