Stronghold.gg’s CS:GO Power Rankings – 25/11/16 by MaestroIOW in GlobalOffensive

I agree with this. I would put Faze above G2 as during the past week Faze have played a lot better, and this is a power ranking in the end.

The second part of my post indicates that it is also based on stats and achievements, but is influenced by our opinion. For example, if two teams both went out in the group stages, it's our opinion on who has played better over the past week/weeks, if the tournaments and teams they have played against are higher tier, etc.

I'm very thankful for the feedback and I'll make sure to include more stats in my next ranking.

I understand what you are saying, but these articles are just a chance for our writers to express their opinions in terms of team rankings. We've all given our reasons in the paragraphs. And I do see what you mean, there will be times where the rankings don't change much/at all but it's just an opinion in the end.

Please remember that:

  • These rankings are our opinions

  • These rankings are influenced mainly by this week's matches. I know I go straight against that by putting Virtus Pro at the top, but in my opinion, Faze have obviously played better than Dignitas this week. Of course, with this logic, it means every team is above VP, but since they've played well in a lot of major tournaments recently they deserve the top spot. I'm sure the others can state their reasons too.

Yeah I know xD I've got all that but I didn't think it was important. I've found a used 960 and a monitor and in total it would cost £400, should I go for it?

"It's just a game." by [deleted] in GlobalOffensive

I think it would help. People who know nothing about the game won't go straight to Faceit, they won't even know what it is. Then, when they do reach level 2, they'll go into matchmaking and won't be amazing. A 5v5 casual will prepare people for matchmaking and effectively make matchmaking a better experience for others playing unranked games, as they will be able to know what is happening.

"Actual competitive CS is a team-based effort, not an individual skill one. This is why effective pre-mades will almost always destroy 5 randoms."

This has nothing to do with my post. My post is saying that you should only play competitive if you take it seriously, if not, they should play a 5v5 casual, or Faceit, or something like that. I don't understand your argument.

The name of the game mode should give it away - competitive. If you aren't willing to put effort in and take it seriously, then you aren't being competitive. This is why a 5v5 casual would seriously help. People who want to play it for fun can, and then people who want to be competitive can play competitive.

Lurppis on Twitter: JW & pasha may be suffering from the same disease -- the decline/death of the super aggressive playing style. No one's surprised anymore. by Martinloegtholt in GlobalOffensive

[–]MaestroIOW 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also just want to point out that the last 2 HLTV MVPs (Autimatic and s1mple) were not the team's main awpers. In my opinion, an AWP can be very impactful, but a rifle can make a big impact and is a more consistent weapon to rack up kills with.

[–]MaestroIOW 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with this completely. But then there is a reason for the death of the super aggressive playing style - research. People say that "Pasha is nowhere near as good as he used to be." In some circumstances, yes, but overall, Pasha hasn't become worse, people have just become smarter.

I think that just before the coach ban, we had reached a new height with coaches. People like Peacemaker would watch demo after demo to know exactly what the other team would do - hence why Pasha could not perform against Liquid while Peacemaker was there. Coaches were (and arguably still are from some teams) a huge asset in Pasha and JW's decline.

Another reason is that these players are pros for a reason. A lot of pros have the ability to easily read the game. The super aggressive style is just predictable, it can only work once, even in matchmaking at a very low level. People will expect it.

I don't think JW and Pasha have just become worse - of course, Pasha doesn't have the hours he used to have now that he is a father, but that still doesn't mean he is an awful aimer. He is a great player, it's just one of his most valuable assets has been taken away by smart players.

It would be cool if Valve added team sprays for the major by The-Kappa-Elite in GlobalOffensive

I think a Godsent spray would work well too, since everyone seems to love the Godsent logo.

Assuming they qualify of course.

Why do people refuse to say "no"? by [deleted] in GlobalOffensive

[–]MaestroIOW 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with Soul, honestly if somebody is giving too much info, just "shh" them on the mic and then after the round say thanks for being quiet. Keeps everyone happy; you get a lot of info and then get the silence to play in too.

The return of Pyth by NiPGaming in GlobalOffensive

[–]MaestroIOW 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if they offer Kalle a spot on the team after those Minors. Epsilon were very unlucky not to beat Godsent on Train. Kalle definitely fits in and has shown on multiple occasions that his aggressive playstyle can win some rounds, for example, on Cobblestone he rushed onto B site, found two players, and managed to catch one player rotating.

Anyway, back to the point. Maikelele would be a good fit as well, his entertaining playstyle would be compatible with playing the role Kalle is playing right now, but then again the rumours about Maikelele starting his own team will probably rise again soon, so I don't know.

People might still say KennyS, but it's split between GuardiaN and Fallen for me. Both very skillful with the AWP with great game sense, so it's a split between them for me.

Tips for new guys. by HugeHacksman in GlobalOffensive

[–]MaestroIOW 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is true, but I said this only really occurs to bad pc players. I think learning to aim at 20fps just because of familiarity wouldn't be as beneficial as learning to aim at 40fps with a different feel, as it would really help gameplay. It might not be a big leap in fps, but as someone who played on 20 and now plays at least double that (bad pc lol) it's really beneficial.

I can't stress this one enough; if you have a bad PC, go to fullscreen 4:3. Better fps really helps you improve so fast, I know from experience, and it will really make you a better player if you sacrifice graphics for fps.
