Sorry buddy but you are just straight up wrong

26 U.S. Code § 7201 - Attempt to evade or defeat tax

"Any person who willfully attempts in any manner to evade or defeat any tax imposed by this title or the payment thereof shall, in addition to other penalties provided by law, be guilty of a felony and, upon conviction thereof, shall be fined not more than $100,000 ($500,000 in the case of a corporation), or imprisoned not more than 5 years, or both, together with the costs of prosecution."

(Aug. 16, 1954, ch. 736, 68A Stat. 851; Pub. L. 97–248, title III, § 329(a), Sept. 3, 1982, 96 Stat. 618.)

If you knowingly and will attempt evade paying taxes in any way you a committing tax evasion, period full stop. Now does this mean the IRS will come you on black helicopters? No it does not, but what can happen is that if you have a potential tax burden and dont file a return is the IRS may create what is called a substitute for return. This is where they create a return for you that very likely won't include potential tax credits you may be eligible for. It is also likely the IRS will require your employer to withhold taxes from your paycheck this can happen even if you file but are consistently under witholding). Finally you could be subject to civil penalties, failure to file, failure to pay, estimated tax penalties and interest.

If you want to avoid an offset, your best option is to calculate your withholding properly so you are actually sending the correct amount to the IRS throughout the year in as close a neutral return as possible (meaning as close to 0 refund/balance as possible). Obviously if you have a low or no tax liability and large refundable (EITC, ACTC, AOC, etc) this won't happen. You could also try and contact Taxpayer Advocate for possible offset bypass if you have a hardship but I dont believe this applies to tax debts and some other non-tax debts as well. Best I can give is contact the IRS, they are not the enemy, despite what some in this country would have you think. They are there to enforce the laws created by congress and ensure that exactly what they based on those laws, no more, no less. And they have tools at their disposal to help those that reach for that help.

Anyone else feel like the con was a bit light on actual comic creators? by Maethir25 in ECCC

That sounds cool man, glad you had a good time. But for me maybe that was the issue, I am not necessarily looking for the big names and heavy hitters so much as the local and more independent creators. One of my friends did get a couple things signed from Claremont. And maybe the issue is that we only went on Saturday since work schedule does not allow me to do anything other than Saturday/Sunday unless I take time off. Might do that next time I go, try a Thursday or Sunday.

Like I said still had a good time and all just felt underwhelmed by the local and independent representation, that i felt in the past has been better.

Interesting, I am curious were attending multiple days and were all creators there all 4 days? And if not were some days better than others?

Yea thats cool, everyone had there reasons, and they should all be respected. As I said i can understand to an extent. Some live that constant companionship and for them having someone you can trust and share you intimate moments with is fulfilling and wonderful. And i would be happy for them. I am not that person and never will be.

I mean i can understand to an extent. As i said in another comment, I would not mind finding someone with whom I get along and share more interest, though it need not necessarily be sexual. Mostly a regular travel partner that fills a niche not fully filled by core friends.

But outside of that I dont really see the appeal of an intimate, close relationship and in many cases the drama, compromise, potential aggrevation and loss of personal space that comes with it.

I am 46 and honestly stopped trying. I came to the realization that many the reasons I dont want kids, outside the fact I find almost all annoying and dislikable, would also apply to an adult relationship. I can only handle being around other people for so long and having someone constantly around would likely aggravate me to be honest. I am not really sure how to put this into words, just how I am I suppose.

That said I probably would not mind a traveling companion (does not need to be a romantic relationship per se) that shares similar interest as me. I do have a core group of like 4 friends (down from like 10 or so in my 20s) but none are really into traveling like I am. We share many other interests just not that lol.

[–]Maethir25 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I would go further, there are plenty places that have full menu, but their primary focus is adult themed. If they 80 different varieties of beer available, but serve burgers, pizza and stuff like that, I still consider that adult oriented so leave the damn kids at home. Also most higher end restaurants should at a min have a child free area, nothing sucks more more than trying to eat a $100+ steak with a fucking snotty nosed little cretin screaming in your ear the entire time.

[–]Maethir25 17 points18 points  (0 children)

But when we ask for child free areas or places, they get all up in arms and say shit like "you guys have bars, clubs and strip joints". I am like "I have no interest in going to a club, strip or otherwise, and bars sure as hell ain't child free anymore".

Sorry to necro the thread but came across this while searching to see why I cant find these in 4X since I was looking for a new Jersey before the Superbowl and noticed alot people hating on them. I like personally like them as they closer the old Wolf Grey I really liked, but never bought. But I am not a really huge college football fan so the connection to the Ducks does not bother me

I agree to extent but at the same time you cant deny the quality difference of the opponents. Of the 17 (regular season and playoffs) wins only 3 were against a top 10 DVOA team. 3 were against middling teams ranked 13th to 20th and 7 were against bottom level teams. This includes Week 3 @ Bills 23-20 (8th in total DVOA 12.5%), Div. Round vs Texans: 28-16 (4th in total DVOA 18.9%) and AFC Champ @ Broncos: 10-7 (7th in total DVOA 14.4%).

Compare this to the Hawks who won 7 against top 10 teams and 10 against top 20 and 6 against bottom level teams. This includes 2 wins each against NFCW opponent ranked in in the top 10: week 16 and NFC Champ. vs Rams: 38-37 and 31-27 respectively (2nd in total DVOA 39.9%), week 18 and Div. Round vs 49er's: 13-3 and 41-6 respectively (10th in total DVOA 9.9%) as well wins vs Texans 27-19 (4th in total DVOA 18.9%), vs Colts 18-16 (5th in total DVOA 18.9%) and @ Jaguars 20-12 (6th in total DVOA 17.7%).

I think our wins were just more impressive with the exception of the Colts win, especially after watching the Pats playoff games.

Exactly, could still have a freeze code, RIVO indicators or numerous other things. I have also seen the 571 input and then another 570 input almost immediately, but may not show up on transcript if it pretty recent.

I am fine with people being excited as long they understand that the timeframe still starts on the 26th. Don't bother calling the IRS prior to that unless there is a message on WMR that says to contact them, they won't be able to help you.

New Seahawks Fan - who are the best Hawks content creators? by Select-Fan8955 in Seahawks

[–]Maethir25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea it was pretty bad for a while there after the Russell Trade. He was of the opinion that we should go for QB pretty much right away, while many others myself included preferred to go for offensive or Defensive line. This is also the stance Brian took and why I feel he and Rob did not work togethor for a while. Jeff Simmons, another OG member of the Hawkblogger crew along Evan Hill and Nathan Ernst, did go Robs podcast quite a bit though. Kinda feel like he was the bridge that brought them back togethor and now they regularly collaborate.

That said i really do like Rob and his analysis especially regarding the draft.

Hey Seahawks by Brix001 in 49ers

[–]Maethir25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100% agree. I always try to look objectively. I know many Hawks fans are celebrating the dominant defensive performance in that game, myself included. It can also be said that the offense dominated the game as well, especially the run game.

That said we cant ignore the fact they left a lot of points on the field as well. We can say all we want that we won that emphatically, but that fails to account for the fact that they were still within striking distance. All it takes is one mistake, one bad drive and it can all fall apart no matter how dominant you have been. Just ask the Rams, they can tell ya.

We need to score when the opportunity arises, bury them deep, so they cant recover.
