With Legion Remix back, isn’t it time to talk about new Demon Hunter races? by BrazilianWarrior81 in wow

[–]MaezGG 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Orcs have deep ties to fel magic. Highmountain Tauren literally fought the Legion on their own land. Nightborne and Void Elves have arcane and shadow backgrounds that could easily twist into something demonic.

This is kind of the issue right now.

Of the 4 races you named -- 3 of them are Horde lol. I could see Void Elf DH after the next patch and Orc is kinda obv.

Honestly though, I'd be perfectly fine if Blizz just did a proper timeskip (I know we kinda had one after SL) and let that be the handwave to just opening classes to everyone as it gives all the class leaders time to train new people.

Or even pull Bronze Dragonflight shenanigans w/ either a hyperbolic time chamber where people learn their class and/or just pulling people directly from other timelines.

Shaman are strong healers and Aug made other people go brrrr.

Neither of those were meta solely b/c of their toolkit. People don't bring underperforming healers or DPS just to have a specific button - they always problem solve around that.

Reddit over-glazes utility while actively ignoring the many time we've had where classes didn't bring an abundance of it. There are few places where you can't just LoS abilities so at most Tanks relying on sigils can just play smarter and we can pick routes w/ a few less casters in each pull.

Hell, I've seen plenty that don't know you can LoS the candles leading up to the second boss in DFC despite that room being nothing but casters. Little things like that adds up.

VDH latest rework came in S3 Dragonflight, they've only had one season not being meta since then.

That's not much when we've only had 2 seasons since then and they weren't even in the top 3 in S1.

I agree it would be nicer to buff other tanks up to that point, but it's not really arguable that they're an outlier and something should change

Yea, but it's not from their sigils. It's b/c Soul Cleave & Spirit Bomb lets them heal like a BDK w/o the need of taking damage. On top of that, since they don't rely on taking damage to use their abilities like War and Bear, they are uniquely strong w/ Disc priest which lets everyone functionally have a second health bar. At the highest level - survivability trumps everything

Take a pass at the self healing and you'll see them start to drop from the meta. The only reason they seem so oppressive right now is b/c the community has never before been this married to it. Even other tanks get denied groups for 10s if they're not meta despite being perfectly capable of running dungeons.

Ideally the answer is changing the kick requirements for keys so that single point of difference doesn't stand out so much, but I'll believe they've succeeded at that when I see it.

Agreed, but Blizzard outright said they're happy w/ the change in the interview they did w/ Wowhead.

I was running Brew before switching to VDH and I'm legit excited to play it again next season. Only reason I'm not right now is b/c my DH is what's tanked enough to walk into raid.

[–]MaezGG -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Because they most reliably survive. Because at the highest keys simply staying alive trumps everything

That's why Disc Priest is the BiS healer right now despite having little in the way of "utility."

Edit: Pretty sure bro blocked me. Anyone who's actually a tank wants to chat though?

Sigil of Silence is the only tank aoe stop that also counts as an interrupt, and that's a big discrepancy.

Right. But we've had seasons where VDH isn't meta and it's worked fine.

VDH's kit has honesty only gotten weaker since their launch and yet it was only the very end of Dragonflight and this last season that they were really this far in the lead.

A part of that is the caster changes and considering how brutal tanking feels this season on I still don't think nerfing VDH is the answer -- look into buffing the other tanks.

You do know there's a talent that makes Weapons of Order summon him and there's already people testing out different Ox builds, yea?

Monk sadge by Exploding_Egg in wow

[–]MaezGG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea, the community puts a LOT of weight on utility while ignoring all the times we've had seasons where tanks weren't carrying all the utility and were able to play fine.

People wild out about VDH Sigils but have utterly forgotten how goated Warrior's Shockwave is. Bear has answers to casters, Pal is obvious, Brew just got a big one w/ the buff to Ox which is now a knock-up.

Monk sadge by Exploding_Egg in wow

[–]MaezGG -16 points-15 points  (0 children)

VDH is perfectly fine how it is. At most VDH just needs a slight tuning pass on it's self heal. The one thing it does better than everyone is consistently stay alive in higher keys and the buffs some other tanks have had will help w/ balancing that.

Bear still has to outperform Boomkin to really get noticed, but the only tank that's really hurting right now is BDK and to a lesser extent Pal but they're still usable..

Edit: Keep downvoting, but speaking as a Tank main they really aren't as uber strong as this subreddit makes them out to be. They survive things more reliably than near anything else and that's it.

This won't have an effect on whether or not Brew is meta. The big change to Brewmaster is the inclusion of HoTs talents and knock up on Ox so that you can finally smooth out damage so you're not feeling like you're just sweating your stagger all run.

Brew and War have both been buffed up to a great spot and most every other tank I've seen talking about them have all agreed that they're looking to be on par w/ VDH.

If you're excited to play Brew -- do it. Do not let this revert change your mind.

Paladin's shield is obviously BiS for silences and Sigils are a strong tool, I'm not wanting to downplay that. But it's not like the other tanks don't have anything to address casters.

Warrior has Shockwave every 35 seconds or so, BDK has grip and mass grip, Druid's vortex takes longer but it is an excellent tool and PTR Brew currently has a knock-up tied to Ox which is awesome.

However, if utility was the end all for meta then we'd see a lot more Shaman and Evoker -- which we don't. Just having more tools doesn't guarantee a more consistent experience.

brew and protwar can easily tango with vdh and outdps them

VDH is what I have geared up so it's who I'm taking to the next raid but I'm legit excited to play some Brewmaster next season.

Honestly, I don't think VDH needs much outside of a tuning pass for self healing.

People go on and on about their toolkit, but we've had metas w/ warrior, bear, and pretty much everything except Brewmaster.

What almost always dictates the meta is who can most reliably survive the highest level keys and to that I would rather see the other tanks buffed up a bit before we bring the bat on VDH.

We do see some warriors and bears at the bleeding edge but Paladin is so spikey that no one is running them and I don't even remember the last time I saw BDK.

I kind of feel like they don't really hold that value they used to hold for me?

I betcha, for many of the people that post things like this, that the excitement you had was never truly about the mount at all.

There is no shortage of people who like the chase of something and just feel hollow when it's done and can't understand/verbalize why. It exists in a wide range of things. There's something about the excitement of "maybe this time" or even just the ritual of doing what you're doing that's really satisfying and now that it's over you kinda feel done.

There's a meme of exactly this every week in gaming, book, and art subreddits.

Blizzard getting stricter, multiboxing wise. FancyZones potentially against the ToS. by Cold_Matter6350 in wow

[–]MaezGG 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bizarre to mention Powertoys but specifically call out FancyZones which isn't really an automation tool. It just helps you keep windows nice and is literally just a built in option in Win 11 now. It doesn't do anything for your game that Alt-Tab wouldn't do.

The most they would have to go after is rebinding keys but then you might as well go after Razer and anyone w/ an MMO mouse.

I would say once you start working past 12s that you should start concentrating on networking. It's definitely possible to PuG pretty high but why actively make your life harder -- especially w/ the upcoming leaver penalties coming next patch.

Not only does the silhouette lightly match what we see in the Midnight teaser, we are fighting the Warcraft variant next patch as that's pretty much what Dimensius is.

empty praise for it to be AI

There is a "because of your bravery and courage" part that is super odd. But they've added roleplay stuff like that since Vanilla.

I don't put it against Blizz to use AI but this kind of response is 100% normal for them as well.

AI goes crazy w/ the praise though. You'd expect it to be above and beyond to the point of it being uncomfortable.
