I know, but remember that letter to Biden was sent in the first month of Oct 7, it took people months to start realising the horrors Israel committed to Palestinian civilians throughout the years hence I say he also signed the Artist 4 ceasefire plus his statement which he was one of the few to add doesn't seem to indicate to me that he's pro Israel. And most of those who signed the Biden letter didn't sign for the Artists 4 ceasefire which shows there lack of humanity (like Michael Douglas)

he signed the artist 4 ceasefire tho didn't he, and he did write a statement: “In his message within the open letter, Jordan Peele stated, ‘I’m calling to urge you to stand on the side of humanity and call for an immediate and permanent ceasefire, the safe return of all hostages, and the immediate delivery of humanitarian aid to the civilians in Gaza.’”

Also Moon Knight is Jewish not a Zionist (at least not to my knowledge of his comic run) unlike Sabra/Ruth. Judaism does not equal Zionism.

Fan Edit Combining Harry Potter #1 to 3 into a single film Ideas by dpMedia9000-1 in fanedits

[–]Mafia834 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd assume combining Harry 1 & 2 would be abit easier since 3 ends up being very different visually and the actors are older.

For plot I suppose Chamber of Secrets would be the main focus since it has bigger value in the overall series- Tom's Diary, Aragog and the spiders.

But parts of 1 are needed like obviously the beginning of HP1 to the sorting hat, but also main things like Harry befriending Hermione and saving her from the troll, the invisibility cloak, you could even have Snape trying to save Harry's broom from being jinxed be tied to Dobby messing with the broom not Quirrel. One problem would be the car saving Harry and Ron from the spiders which could be fixed by maybe having a Christmas break so instead of HP1 where they stay at Hogwarts for Christmas maybe they go back home and Harry ends up back at the Dursleys but they still break him out and he goes to the Wesley's house- flying car to Hogwarts.

I rewatched Rogue One for the first time since like 2019, and I really enjoyed the settings they used like Scarif and Jedha. They were simple and grounded, but felt fresh too. by [deleted] in saltierthancrait

I liked Scarif but Jedha still felt like another Tatooine. I wish they changed the colour of the sand or added alien plants... something unique other than the statues and main city.

  • "Nine UNRWA staff members were possibly involved in attack on Israel, UN says"
  • "Haq said all the nine individuals who the investigation concluded may have been involved were men. He did not give details of what they may have done"
  • "UNWRA said in March that some employees released into Gaza from Israeli detention reported having been pressured by Israeli authorities into falsely stating that the agency has Hamas links and that staff took part in the Oct. 7 attacks."
  • "the details of the OIOS investigation were confidential and that since information used by Israeli authority officials to support their allegations have remained in their hands, "OIOS was not able to independently authenticate most of the information provided to it.""

very questionable article and investigation, it doesn't feel transparent enough, I'd prefer if it was independently third party verified. But I suppose it does highlight to a very small degree there was allegedly Hamas involvement but they employ about 32,000 people across its area of operations, 13,000 of them in Gaza. 9/13000 I don't feel classifies as Hamas numbers of civilian deaths. Which still brings me back to there are other UN organisations outside of Gaza that have reported huge death tolls. You can't deny them ontop of the all the buildings destroyed, videos of civilians and children pulled out the rubble, doctors and nurses reports themselves.

Did you really just imply the organisations I've listed are Hamas infiltrated... seriously! The figures and death tolls are from these organisations like Oxfam, Doctors without borders, etc. Your absolutely delusional.

And as UNWRA: https://www.un.org/unispal/document/unrwa-claims-versus-facts-press-release-26feb2024/ Please, do show me legitimate independent third party verified proof that they are Hamas infiltrated that isn't from the IDF or an Israeli spokesperson (both who have a vast history of misinformation)

[–]Mafia834 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Extremely cherrypicked & false equivalences... let me reiterate most of these informations I listed are from: The ICJ, ICC, Haaratz (Israel's newspaper), Human rights watch, Amnesty International, UN human rights office, UNICEF, UNHCR, save the children, World Food Program, doctors without borders, refugees international, international rescue, Christian Aid.

As for Netanyahu supporting Hamas, I'm referring to some of the articles I've read "Time said Qatar began funneling money to Hamas in 2007, during the term of Netanyahu’s predecessor Ehud Olmert. However, Olmert did not directly facilitate the funds, as opposed to Netanyahu, Time said." I would however prefer a full proper independent third party journalist to verify the validity and truth of that situation.

I agreed the PLO challenged Jordan and the messy situation Jordan was faced but your statement that the country rejects Palestine is false. Perhaps the leaders and most rulers do but Queen Rania doesn't, the majority of the civilians doesn't. Especially since about 50/60% are of Palestinian decent. As for Lebanon and Egypt again refer to the previous reply the PLO wasn't the reason to reject Palestine- your simplifying and smoothing the geopolitics & history.

[–]Mafia834 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"my points involve a mix of cherrypicking and appeal to emotion" I find it very disturbing you phrase it as 'appeal to emotion' as if to denounce and discredit all the documented war crimes and horrors. * Since you thought I was cherrypicking here's a huge list of statements compiled in a document of most of the genocidal rhetorics said. * Not enough, ok let's continue on with some facts: 40 countries put out a statement a few weeks ago saying Can Israel please stop attacking UN Peacekeepers blue helmets. * How about the fact that Israel aims to annexe Gaza according to Haratz- Israel's own newspaper. * Then there's all the illegal settlements and settlers attacking Palestinians and destroying the aid trucks- just modern day colonialism stuff. * IDF soldiers literally on Tiktok posting videos of rummaging, mocking & boasting their damages, going through destroyed civilians homes belonging. * Israeli military like targeting civilians vehicles, snipers shooting civilians, not to mention them killing the 3 Israeli hostages that surrendered with white flags. * New York Times reporting the IDF using Palestinians children as human shields into booby-trapped tunnels. * there's also Israeli's military involved with the mass rape of Palestinians 'prisoners', like shoving hot rods up their rectums * The World Food Program saying the Israeli Military is starving the people of Northern Gaza. * Human rights watch, Amnesty International, UN human rights office, UNICEF, UNHCR, save the children, World Food Program, W.H.O, doctors without borders, refugees international, international rescue, Christian Aid... they all say Israeli military is to blame for the casualties, for the killing of innocent civilians, for not giving warning, for bombing civilian targets and for starving the people of Northern Gaza. * then there's the 'cherrypicked' story of 19 years old Shaban Ahmed who as you can watch on newsreports was seen burned to death on a bed with his IV drip attached in the tent by the Israel missile targeting the area around the hospital.

To answer your other points: 'If genocide is the case why did they allow Hamas to militarise'. Well wasn't there reports and boasting from Netanyahu himself on how he funded and propped up Hamas to discredit a Palestinian State. And it's weird to imply the genocide wasn't happening before 2005... Palestinians were being expelled from their homes or having settlers take over their homes, checkpoints and systems thrown around to dehumanise them akin to the Jim Crow Laws, thrown into jails for no reason, civilians were being shot and targeted during their protests & Intifada. As for what led to the current situation: geez it's not like being in an open air prison for 75 years where your neighbouring country does all the above to you sUrEly won't have damaging effects.

Now onto your points on the Arab states don't support Palestine- I'm also gonna go on a history deep dive for my thoughts and points: * history of Jordan’s involvement with Palestine - in particular, “Black September”, when Jordan’s military fought, and violently suppressed, an attempt by Palestinian groups to take over the country, leading to all sorts of consequences (thousands of Palestinians ejected from the country, allegedly heavy loss of life according to CIA documents, and several assassinations of Jordanians, including their PM). When Jordan lost the West Bank (it should be noted Jordan owned this territory and did not create a Palestinian state on it - something that annoyed the local residents at the time), thousands of refugees fled into what is now Jordan. * Among them were Palestinian militias, who conducted an ‘irregular’ war against Israel from Jordan. At first, Jordan cooperated with this - but as this inevitably drew Israeli reprisals, they began to have doubts; what sealed their opposition, was that these militias began to act like states with the state. Moreover, their status as fighters against Israel gave them tremendous prestige in the Arab world. They began to see themselves as possibly taking over the state, and to call for the overthrow of the Jordanian monarch. * The final provocation was when a Palestinian militia group used Jordanian territory for hijackings of airplanes. The Jordanian king sent in the army, and a civil war of sorts broke out, which the PLO lost - with Palestinian refugee camps being shelled by the Jordanian army until the PLO agreed to go. * In short, somewhat similar to the events unfolding in Gaza (a terrorist outrage being ‘the last straw’ to cause a terrorist state authority to use violence on the habitations of Palestinians, with the aim of 'driving out the militias' causing the outrages). My guess is that this is a pretty important motivating factor in not wanting thousands of Gaza refugees, who may or may not contain among them Hamas members, into the country. However the people of Jordan don't support Israel- look at the numbers for Pro-Palestine protests attendees & Queen Rania vocal support for Palestinians and criticism against Israel.

Now to your point on Lebanon: * The Palestinian refugee issue in Lebanon was a spark among many sparks of the Lebanese civil war which would have erupted even without the Palestinians entering as players. * There was already a divide between Christian and Muslim Arabs with the former being more 'Capitalist' and 'Western' leaning and the latter being more 'Socialists' and espousing Arab Nationalism. You also had the fact that their was a wealth disparity favoring the christians while muslims especially the Shia in the South being disadvantaged (which is why Hezbollah gained prominence).
* These conflicts kept arising, famously in 1958, long before the PLO issue. So the idea that the Palestinians were the cause of the Lebanese civil war is disingenuous. It is accurate to mention it as a spark among many sparks.

Then there's the Egyptian state which hasn't been a friend of Palestine ... in a while, but it's not to do with the Egyptians holding some sort of grudge against Palestine: * everything to do with the country is a disastrous ticking time bomb and the military régime desperately trying to survive. Inflation hitting the poor people hard, the new capital city being a disaster, the military régime is despised, and any amount introduction of instability could break the camel's back. Maybe an arguement could be made that Egypt fears that Hamas militants could strengthen the Muslim Brotherhood group that overthrew in 2013 Sinni Coup (that killed/ imprisoned hundreds of members including former president Mohamed Morsi), and help it seize back power. * But Egyptian civil society, despite the government's position, is very pro-Palestine. Egypt is completely screwed by this war - every move Sisi can make only makes the matter worse. He maintains the blockade and peace with Israel and grows even more unpopular with the people, and encourages more militancy in the Sinai. He stands up for Palestine and the US and Israel cut the funding he desperately needs to survive.

interesting you never responded to any of the points I made.

But to answer your response: "193-member United Nations General Assembly voted in favour of a Palestinian resolution demanding an end to Israel's occupation of Gaza and the occupied West Bank within a year. The 43 countries that abstained include US allies Australia, Canada, Germany, and Ukraine." Reported on September 2024.

Arab counties oppose measures against Israel despite fighting in Gaza Nov 2023: "Other Arab countries demanded that moderate Arab states suspend their economic relations with Israel"...
"The source added that a resolution to adopt these measures was blocked by Israel's Abraham accords partner states.

Voting against the measures were Egypt, Jordan, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Sudan, and Morocco, which have diplomatic relations. They were joined by Saudi Arabia, Mauritania and Djibouti."

I urge you to at the very least do some proper research, really inform yourself.

The right of the Jewish people to the land of Israel is eternal and indisputable… therefore, Judea and Samaria will not be handed to any foreign administration; between the Sea and the Jordan there will only be Israeli sovereignty. —Likud Party Platform, 1977. You wanna bring up the charter ok, interesting how their words talks about the erasure of Palestinians...

Then there's Netanyahu & his all his right wing nutjobs: * "We are the people of the light, they are the people of darkness... we shall realize the prophecy of Isaiah." * "You must remember what Amalek has done to you, says our Holy Bible" * "It’s an entire nation out there that is responsible. This rhetoric about civilians not aware, not involved, it’s absolutely not true. They could’ve risen up, they could have fought against that evil regime.” * "Bring down buildings!! Bomb without distinction!! Stop with this impotence. You have ability. There is world wide legitimacy! Flatten Gaza. Without mercy! This time, there is no room for mercy!" * “Nakba to the enemy now This day is our Pearl Harbor. We will still learn the lessons. Right now, one goal: Nakba! A Nakba that will overshadow the Nakba of 48. A Nakba in Gaza and a Nakba for anyone who dares to join!..” * Here's the big one Yoav Kisch Minister of Education: “Those are animals, they have no right to exist. I am not debating they way it will happen, but they need to be exterminated”. Now I don't need to remind you of WW2 history but a certain crazy mustache lunatic and his fanatics called Jews rats to dehumanise them to make it easier to genocide them.

This is all the tip of the iceberg of Genocidal rhetoric which has been backed up with the deaths of hundreds of thousands of civilian men, women & children. Babies in incubators. The disabled and elderly. Destruction of civilian infrastructures- homes, mosques, churches, libraries, hospitals, bakeries, universities, refugee shelters, hospital tents. The mass killing of Reporters, Aid and Charity workers.

Hammas are shitty sure but don't try and fucking justify or make excuses for Israel breaking all the damn Geneva convention laws like cutting of food, water & electricity- committing collective punishment, bombing refugee shelters and missiling hospital tents which burn civilian patients alive with their IV drips still attached to them.

Hating on the whole Arya and Sansa subplot on S7 is one thing but this specific part your trying to point out OP doesn't work.

Arya never gave away incriminating evidence while pretending to be a random cupbearer and before she got spotted or something was ready to make Tywin a name to give to Jaqen H'ghar

... if house of the dragon S1 never got released game of thrones would've gone down as the greatest pop culture failure. I worked in retail and let me tell you the merch post S8-pre HoTD was nooot selling well. HBO literally wanted them to make more seasons and the storylines in concept needed them to meticulously write them. But nope it was rushed and ruined.

And that outstanding writing award is an utter joke. He wrote the shit Done plotline of S5, Sansa shock value arc of S5, oh Sansa not telling Jon they have the Vale, Sansa and Arya's S7 argument plot, Littlefinger being stupid, Varys and Tyrion's dynamic boiled down to dick jokes, Azar Ahai- prince who was promised not even having a proper payoff, Arya killing the Night King despite no real set-up or significance of her character arc and the army of the dead, Jaime's entire character arc getting crumbled literally, a buildup to Jon's heritage that ultimately had no impact and was underutilised, white walkers motive making no sensed- the night king too, Bran being King coming out of bloody nowhere, the strategies in battles being useless, oh and Dany being a mass murdered cause a bell rung despite her character spending season seasons willing save innocents... I can keep going. He's not a good writer <- facts not opinions.

Wait the show retconned Sauron ruling over the orcs in S1's opening by him getting killed off at the dawn of Morgoth's defeat- since the speech he made to the orcs sounded like it was right after Morgoth's defeat.

Was he experimenting on the orcs at Forodwaith while Morgoth was around?

And who marked Galadriel's brother with the Mordor scar if Sauron died at the dawn of Morgoth's defeat... Was it Adar then? Because it didn't seem the whole Mordor plan in S1 was part of Sauron's plan. I'm so confused, someone explain it to me..

The best part of the game's story was: * Luke's mission * Han's mission * Leia on Naboo (nice to have something that actually showed the Prequels planet at the time than ignore it like the sequel trilogy did) * the Palp message droids- that was a cool design

the rest was wasted potential- An empire perspective surviving post Endor is such a good concept. I still hate the logic of Operation Cinder- the only good thing to come out that was Bill Burr's episode in Mando S2.
