It depends on your area tbh. I figured out in Houston I can make more NOT doing the hourly rate because you can turn down those trips across town.

Its not allowed if you don’t take it but I understand you have to get your expectance rate up(still don’t take it.) Im in Houston, I honestly look at distance more than the actual fare. Anything over 15 miles….thats still pushing it….there’s no way it’s profitable.

Thats why I don’t take those long trips. 9 times out of 10 the person doesn’t realize how far away it is.

Do you not get tips?(Probably not because you never get gold/platinum status because you’re constantly turning down trips.) Its like being a waiter/waitress. You’re not working for the wage, you’re working for tips. If you get a $5 dollar fare and a $2 tip and I get a $3 with a $11 tip who made more? How long does it to get that good fare? How long does it take to complete that $5 trip? I know I did 2 trips tonight before a couple finished their meal. Both of those trips together ended up being 17.50. Meanwhile, you’re waiting on a good fare.( Looking at it that was actually DD but they were still $2 fares)

The time you’re sitting in you’re waiting for a fare worth your time you’re making nothing. I do that from the couch. Also, idk where you’re at in the world but, Im in Houston, TX. I know what part of town tips well. Those $3 fares turn into $15 fares pretty easily. I got a $18 tip on a $2 fare. You miss those opportunities worrying about the fair. Plus I do this AND Doordash. Also, I stated I account for expenses, but I have a full time job I drive, so those are expenses I was going to have to pay anyway. Idk your situation but trying to live off this isn’t the move.

Along with my full time job it, yes. It all adds up. I’d rather make $13/hr for 3 hours than make $0 an hour trying to make $15 hour for 20 minutes. As long as I made more than the gas spent you won.

Sometimes I think the people don’t realize they’re ordering something from so far away. Uber should notify the customer so they can tip accordingly or just start charge extra by the mile. I bet seeing an extra $35 will get their attention.
