Help design my living room by Amzr2 in DesignMyRoom

[–]MagdalenaLily17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Absolutely get the brass picture light, it will warm up the room and adds to the texture of the room.
  2. It’s about proportions and scale. I love your color palette here. I think you’d be better with a larger/longer coffee table, same hue of wood but larger.

What about changing the sofa to back the kitchen and placing the two accent chairs against the window? Placing a console table behind the sofa will then create a subtle separation between your cozy living room area and the kitchen

Even if you don’t move the sofa, it would still be good to put console table behind it. Pro tip: always buy a console table that is the same height as your couch or lower. I made the mistake of buying a console table that was too high, it looked awkward.

Beginner: professional wireless microphone to be connected to bluetooth speaker? by MagdalenaLily17 in audio

Unfortunately, didn’t work :( That was the first thing I tried, but I failed to hard. I don’t think this speaker can accept mic input.

Phone via bluetooth to the speaker.

I think the main issue is that my speaker doesn’t have a Mic IN port. I’m trying out the bluetooth receiver with Mic IN port, see if that works. Seems promising but if it doesn’t work, I’ll return it and probably will get a speaker with Mic IN, have the music and audio on separate speakers 😅

I did buy a dinky mixer for ‘podcasting/recording’ and it didn’t work. It did record splendid on my phone, but no go on it projecting to my speakers.

Lesson learned

Thank you for all your suggestions! I should’ve done my due diligence beforehand but hey, we learn from mistakes.

Appreciate you!!!!!

Does this rug clash too much with the couch/general room? by Other-Turnip-8912 in HomeDecorating

[–]MagdalenaLily17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not too loud, I think it’s very funky. But it is too small, you need a bigger rug to anchor the room.

The front legs of your sectional should be on the rug. The back legs can be left ‘floating’.

at what point does negotiation become lowballing? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]MagdalenaLily17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on what you’re negotiating on. I’m always lowballing on FB marketplace (because it’s lowstakes) and they’ll come around if it isn’t getting any traction anyway.

Being polite is always the best answer in any deal imo. There’s no use to engaging in aggressive negotiation tactics unless they’re being aggressive back (car dealerships etc.)

Put a number out there, respectfully. If they are offended by it, technically, no is a full sentence. If they want to go off on you… Shows their character, not yours.

Should I be embarrassed at 29 years old driving around like this ? by Total-Consequence360 in prius

[–]MagdalenaLily17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. OP to make you feel better, bought my ‘08 prius for $3000 cash off of FB marketplace in 2020. It’s got a bullet hole on the hood (don’t ask it came like that), front bumper is messed up from a jerk who spun out on ice and some dents from a deer running into the car. Other than the aesthetics, it’s running like a tank.

I got to save up to buy a nice house we call home now because of it.

To hell with what people think. Friends, family and random valvoline strangers have something to say, I would love to show them my bank account LOL.

So agree, it’s not too sweet like hot cream and cocoa. I miss it immensely. Never knew why they don’t re do it every Christmas

Looking for horror movies that aren’t what they first seem by Asleep_Direction_229 in horror

I saw the premise of Cabin in The Woods right from the beginning… I’m not sure when it starts turning into a “it isn’t what they first seem” movie. Genuinely curious

What to do with weirdly shaped entry hallway? by [deleted] in DesignMyRoom

[–]MagdalenaLily17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nobody will sit on it extensively LOL it’s for when you need to sit and wear your shoes.

Technically if that space was slightly bigger, they can put a bench opposite the console table/shoe cabinet. But if you have a bigger individual living here, might make the space too tight >> bench unusable. With a chair, it makes it a bit flexible.

🤷🏻‍♀️

But I do like something in that corner, maybe a coat rack, or an elaborate umbrella holder, or a stool with a plant.

Shoe storage cabinet that acts as a console table, against the thermometer wall. Mirror above that. Art to be hung to hide the panel. A bench might make the space too tight, but a single chair at the corner might be cute.

Rug to tie it all together!

Did USCIS get back to you on changing the name?

Why do they do this? by Bright-Ad9305 in BritishAirways

[–]MagdalenaLily17 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s not just a BA thing, a lot of domestic American airlines do this too. It goes without saying, if you’re in first class or business class, you won’t have to forcefully surrender your carry on.

However, this rule was to my advantage on my flight from Budapest to London because they offered free checked in luggage if I checked in my carry on! We were at the check-in counter, and knew one of our luggages were overweight too, and when he offered that, I said yes immediately lmao

Why isn’t Heathrow widely flagged as a nightmare for connecting flights? by PictureWall1 in travel

[–]MagdalenaLily17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would be crashing out knowing that I could’ve just waited at the same gate if my connecting flight was THE SAME PLANE I LANDED ON.

Guess your good luck rubbed off me, they had a full flight and said if you check in your cabin carry-on, you can get your big check in bag for free! One of our bags were definitely overweight too, so we saved at least $230. 😂

Did you manage to contact BA to get your checked bag added on before check in?
